Ex-CMU Coach John Bonamego Consultant for Bowl Game. Longer-term implications?

I hope everyone is having a great time with their family and is getting plenty of awesome loot.

For your more solitary moments, I offer this 2-day-old news from Wolverines Wire of ex-CMU head coach John Bonamego. A quick review of his Wikipedia page shows that his most recent position coaching experience in the NFL was on special teams. Perhaps others will have more information on his strengths.

I often wonder if coaches like Harbaugh, Saban, Meyer et al bring in guys like this to learn how others do things and expose their staffs to different thinking.

Too bad AK did not come with him.  That kid is special, look at what he has done to help CMU recruiting the last 2-3 seasons.

Ben Mac and Jay H are becoming great pals, and the future of Michigan football looks great.

Bowl game prep has been awesome, no news on Hill or Long, however with how much run Gray, Woods, and Ambry are getting I think the staff believes best case scenario one goes.

Merry Xmas

Cheers

Lots of talk on the board lately with rumors that Hill was probably staying, someone cited a paywalled Sam Webb article about it using " rhyming names....not sure what thread.           Yesterday's thread about Long not getting a draft eval  had a lot of people's hopes up and UMBig11 said something about it being "60/40". Also, somebody in that thread claims to have gotten to know Long and said he would be back next year to finish his degree fwiw.

I was just getting used to the idea we may possibly get both back too (after assuming at least 1 was going to go)....so I was pretty disappointed to see ghostof had different thoughts.

I doubt there's any chance he's coming to the staff.  Coaches everywhere spend a week, or two, with other staffs all the time.  I believe Saban even spent time with Rich Rod during summer break once upon a time.  Its good to see different ways of doing things, different drills, get some pointers on specific plays or schemes...  Gotta keep up with the Jones'!

Seems like a tryout for a special teams analyst gig.

Not a bad idea. If he can help with game planning/scouting that frees up time for CP and Jay in addition to any improvements he might bring.
