11/09/2018 - 10:46pm Unless the weather makes…

Unless the weather makes passing more difficult than running.  Then it will be interesting.  Looks like snow tomorrow so we'll see.

03/23/2018 - 12:43am MSG

Madison Square Garden is Staples Center East

03/05/2018 - 7:25pm Did anyone else

become a shipper with Mo's mom and Maar's dad?  We could potentially have a Muhammad Movitz Ali Abdur-Rahkman-Wagner in 18 years.

Just me?  I'll let myself out.

02/01/2018 - 3:57pm I still think Pep can succeed here

I just think Michigan threw way too much at their freshman WR's and QB's (O'Korn included) than they could handle.  I don't think we put them in a position to succeed with so many intricate option routes.  I assume that is Pep's doing as the passing game coordinator.

I am hoping that with another year in the system and a potentially different QB, our offense will be able to handle more of what the coaches give them.  Or the coaches are able to cater the offense towards strenghts and simplify if need be.

01/24/2018 - 2:55pm This makes sense

Sean McVay was a coach at our aerial assault qb camp with Jedd a couple years ago when he was still OC with the Redskins. Jedd must have been a connection to bring in McVay.

01/23/2018 - 7:50pm Sleeper of the Year

Seems like a great candidate for Sleeper of the Year.  I would guess him or Schoonmaker.

01/13/2018 - 9:59pm Izzo

01/13/2018 - 3:46pm Blue-Collar

Normally we get told we're not blue-collar after losses but I'll take a win to be our season changing game this year.

01/13/2018 - 3:25pm Fuck Yes

Just finished watching on DVR.  Went straight to Scott Bell's twitter feed for some glorious Spartan trolling.  Oh, their sweet salty teers taste so good.

01/10/2018 - 10:20pm Hey may be

great in the NFL (which I'm not sold on) but he had no ability to adjust his offense to our young players.  How often did we have 2 recievers within 5 years of each other 20 yards down?  I realize these were option routes and one of the recievers most likely messed up but he was putting freshman recievers in a position to fail.

12/27/2017 - 9:43pm When In Florida!

Sometimes when you are in Florida you almost get into a fight in a bowling alley.  What are you gonna do?

11/20/2017 - 12:24am The Left Skate

The left skate hit the ice before the right skate!

10/27/2017 - 8:18pm That is a good point

He probably could still go to Michigan State.

10/21/2017 - 2:45am Four Roses

Single Barrel.  One ice cube.  Getting the job done tonight.

10/18/2017 - 4:20am All thanks go to Brock Huard

Brock was the one that pointed out Mo’s excellent play to NFL scouts in our last game’s broadcast. Maurice Hurst made a lot of money last game because Brock noticed his excellent play and did us all a favor by discovering it.

10/16/2017 - 7:29pm I agree with this

Fant had his arm completely extended on McDoom as well.  He not only grabbed his jersey but he stiff armed him away from trying to make a play on the ball.  Again, it wasn't flagrant but it did happen.  McDoom also should have tried to make more of a play on the ball and the PI would have been more obvious.

10/15/2017 - 4:08pm the problem is that

you can't just fire someone's parents.  Even if you do they are still his parents based on birth.

10/13/2017 - 4:24pm Lavert Hill almost INT number 2

On Lavert Hill's PBU with just under 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter where Brian intro'd the clip by saying "back to being Jourdan Lewis", it actually looked like he got held by the Wide Receiver on the play.  He basically ran the route for the WR and was in perfect position for an interception.  You can see the WR grab his right arm just before the ball comes in and pushes off.  This causes Hill's right shoulder to dip down and slows down his momentum. Hill still makes a great PBU on the play but it looks like he could have had an interception on the play.

Bang bang play so I understand the no call on this particular OPI but it goes to show you just how good Hill has been playing lately.

10/12/2017 - 3:27pm I actually don't mind O'Korn bailing

I actually don't mind O'Korn bailing on the earlier side of things.  He is at his best when he is running towards the line of scrimmage with an option to keep it or find someone down field.  He is clearly not a Tom Brady pocket passer that quickly goes through his progressions.  Our bad O Line obviously does not help things here.  Obviously, you would prefer him to at least glance around the field a little bit after his first read to see if anyone is wide open in the flat. However, I don't mind him escaping the pocket on the earlier side as long as he is stepping up through it instead of drifting further and further behind it like he did in the Indiana game last year.

The 3rd and 9 play where Brian wanted him to throw it up to a single covered Crawford (who had a step) or to a maybe open Gentry (scary throw with safety help), I actually wish he would have stepped up in the pocket and took off running.  It was open.

09/29/2017 - 6:07pm When Currie

was in the class, we had 3 guys at 6' 8 that played 3 different positions (3, 4, and 5).  If we can replace Currie with Castleton a 6'10 strech big that can really protect the rim, that would really round out the class well.

Best of luck to Currie, and if he does stick around for 2019 we should take another look at him then.  Doubt that happens though.

09/22/2017 - 7:49pm Currently #6

Currently #6 in the nation to the 247 Composite but you also have to keep in mind Kentucky is currently 44 with 1 commit and Kansas is 49 with only 1 commit so I'm sure things will still change.  Great class though so far and it seems like we will still add Locke or Ahrens.

09/21/2017 - 2:56pm I believe

Steve is saying that it doesn't check out with the coaching staff's grading and that isn't the order in which they view those players compared to each other. For instance, I bet the coaching staff views Cole as their top graded OL and not Kugler, etc

08/26/2017 - 6:54pm Lawrence Marshall

Turns into a useful rotational player on the defensive line and puts in a Godin like senior year.

06/16/2017 - 1:59am Vilain

looks physically ready to take on some pass rushing snaps immediately.  I'm hoping Lawrence Marshall can turn in a very solid to impressive Godin like senior year as a backup where you realize you don't mind when he is in.  Also, very cool that they all got t-shirts with their names on them.  Looks like Ron Johnson got a custom sleave option.

03/14/2017 - 7:22am After watching

Highlights of a few of their games, it really seems like they don't rotate well on defense. Sometimes it even seems like all of their players run to the ball like a middle school soccer game instead of staying disciplined. Granted, this was from a very limited sample size but their poor defensive numbers passed the eye test.

03/10/2017 - 6:53pm Irvin

Irvin has truly transformed the way he plays the game as the team has progressed.  In the last 5 or so games he has let the game come to him, been a facilitator for others, generally picked good spots to be aggressive, and most importantly has played lights out defensive.  He was the reason why we tied the game to send it to OT and the reason why we won it in OT.  Huge game from him today.

If he can keep this going in the postseason, Michigan will be awfully hard to beat.  One player has a bad game, another picks up the team.  Just so many damn offensive options.  I also think the back surgery set him back much more than we realized.  Glad Walton said this and obviously extremely grateful to have Irvin in the program even if I still yell "Damn You Irvin Heroball" a couple times a game.  We can live with it a couple times a game especially because he has been hitting a lot more of those shots.

03/10/2017 - 12:30am Curious if

Painter will continue to switch everything in this game like they did in the 2nd half of the first game.  It has led to some favorable situations for Michigan with a big trying to guard Walton on the perimter.  Not to mention, we have yet to really exploit having Wagner be on the post against an undersized guard.  Will need to get that going.

Wagner had a pretty meh game offensively against Illinois.  Will need him to get going against Purdue and of course going forward into the tournament, although teams have been game planning specifically against him which opens up other stuff for the rest of the offense.

03/02/2017 - 2:13am too high too low

I think everyone got a little too high after the Purdue game and everyone is a little too low after this Northwestern game.  I too fall into this generalization and reasonably so.  There were so many ways we could have won a road game against a respectable and desperate Northwestern team.

The guy who made the shot travelled (granted they would never call that), DJ Wilson was slow to react, Irvin should have taken it to the hole and ate more clock instead of jacking up a 3.  Also it was an amazing play from a (again) desperate team.  We will beat Nebraska and win at least a game in the B1G tournament.  I still still am predicting a Sweet 16 run in the tournament.

I realize this thread is about the future but a lot of it is hating on the present so I had to respond.  As for the future, X looked great again.  Love the incoming freshman.  Having Mo and DJ back as bigs who can drain 3's is tough to defend.  Hope that holds true for this year and next.

02/07/2017 - 11:11pm With this team,

We want Mr. Hyde.  He is the more Blue Collar version.

02/07/2017 - 11:05pm Guys,

As a Falcons fan, I could use a little pick me up pos bang.  I let out a lot of built up Super Bowl anger on Izzo.  DJ Wilson's celebration after his one hand slam that earned him a technical really spoke to me.

02/07/2017 - 10:54pm So in retrospect

Michigan -4.... still want to go ALL CAPS on that many HAHA's?

01/30/2017 - 7:21pm My Two Cents

I value the opinion of the sportswriters that I pay attention to.  It's why I pay attention to them.  I don't mind hearing their opinions on things other than sports.  I enjoy hearing well thought out sports and politics opinions even if I don't agree with them.

Now, I don't want to hear Skip Bayless or Jim Rome talk about politics but I also don't want to hear them talk about sports.  But, I would assume that there are people out there (God help their souls) that may want to hear their opinions on sports and possibly politics so I'm not going to tell them what to talk about.  I just won't listen to them.

One of the biggest problems with the current political climate is that people only want to hear their own opinions reaffirmed.  No one wants to be challenged from either side.  So if they end up hearing something they disagree with because it comes from someone they normally get sports from, then I think that is a good thing.  It will either cause you to reaffirm your own beliefs after reassesing them or possibly cause you to think about a certain topic with a different perspective.

01/27/2017 - 7:07pm Harris had a really impressive

catch against Maryland this year that got called back on a dubious offense PI call.  Granted, it was just one play but it showed off the potential he has.  I think he can really step up next year now that he has more experience than most other WR's on the roster.

01/26/2017 - 2:57pm It's also possible

that Jim Harbaugh travelled in time and prevented Nick Saban's parents from meeting in the past and now Nick's entire existence is fading away.

Also, possible the camera just wasn't focussed.

01/25/2017 - 8:21pm Frey can now

follow up with an in home visit with Becton right?  I know Harbaugh and Partridge were in home with him yesterday.  Can Frey now follow up and try to seal the deal?  Realize there is a limit on in home visits but I believe the limit is 1 per coach, right?

Also, I've noticed Partridge on a lot of in home visits with Harbaugh regardless of positional group or region (For instance Oliver Martin today as well).  Wondering we may have an Alec Baldwin / Kyra Sedgwick type Closer on our hands.

01/17/2017 - 3:05pm Also just

good general advice when driving a go-cart.

01/16/2017 - 3:38pm I think

McCaffrey missing the first day of practice didn't help either.  They already have such a short amount of time to learn the offense and get in rythom with their teammates.  It certainly isn't something can be overcome and apparently McCaffrey impressed with how quickly he picked things up.

Also curious if he had some better snaps from his center if he would have been able to get a TD.  He had some back luck with snaps in that game that seemed to stall some drives.  I'm still just as excited about what Harbaugh can do with McCaffrey after a redshirt year.

01/16/2017 - 1:57am Yeah,

I don't hold the same viewpoints now as I did then.  More information came out and it was clear he couldn't have qualified anywhere.

01/16/2017 - 12:23am This example doesn't technically count,

but my answer is Demar Dorsey.  It came after the Sean Parker non-commitment / switch of a silent commitment.  I was 100% all in for Rich Rod.  He needed a safety to shore up the pass defense.  Turns out, the problems were much bigger than one player but at the time, not having Demar Dorsey and his "No Fly Zone" really hurt.  I was convinced that MIchigan's own athletic department was not letting in Dorsey as an attempt to hurt Rich Rod.  I think I even called the athletic department to complain about it which I have never done for any other reason.  I was in my early 20's and didn't have as good of coping skills that I do now.  So as I said, not a decommit, but definitly the recuriting loss I felt the most.

01/15/2017 - 12:50am If we can't pay our players,

we may as well pay our coaches.

01/12/2017 - 10:09pm Would be a great pickup

Would be huge to have him around in 2018.  Just compare him to the rest of our incoming Oline class and other prospects we are still in on and see if you want him.  I'll take as many Oline prospects as we can get let alone one that already has college experience.

Looks like he does have some Michigan connections too.  Saw this from Scott Bell's (@sbell021) twitter.  Sorry I don't know how to embed.

01/12/2017 - 1:05am I wish Wheatley the best

I wish Wheatley the best regardless. I absolutely misread that tweet though.  I read it as him already getting the WMU job as opposed to good luck in getting it.  My bad.  Mea Culpa.  Would love to hang onto Wheatley for selfish reasons, but always encourage the personal development of anyone involved in the program.  Even all of the posters here.  Wish the best for everyone.

01/12/2017 - 12:50am I would love to be wrong but

I would love to be wrong but it sure seems like Wheatley has already accepted the WMU job. I'm sure Harbaugh has tons of options if so but I'd love to see Mike Hart back in Ann Arbor if so. I know he had tough words for Harbaugh in the past, but bygones are bygones and what not.

01/11/2017 - 10:59pm Would rather

Would rather line someone else up first at the very least.  I actually like the recruits we have coming in so would like the next coach (if this comes to fruition) a chance to try to keep them if he wants.  Think he gets the season to try to turn it around anyways.

01/10/2017 - 8:20pm McDoom

McDoom was mostly used on jet sweeps and such which showed off his elusiveness but he also made a really impressive catch early on in the season on a hard slant that showed off his hands too.  I think his combination of great hands, slipperyness, and explosiveness makes him the early favorite on punt returns.  Granted, very small sample size on the hands thing but the potential is clearly there.  Yelling McDoom on all punt returns goes along way for me too.

I'd also give a chance to Nate Johnson and DPJ too.  DPJ just won best hands at the army game and is clearly an amazing athlete.  Nate Johnson showed some amazing hands, body control, and elusiveness in his high school film.

People have been ripping on Isaac above but I wouldn't be surprised to see him on Kick Off returns.  He has some impressive top end speed and shiftyness.  I'd include Evans too but I don't know if you want your starting RB doing returns and Evans is the front runner to be the starting RB.

01/10/2017 - 5:29pm Great Scott!

Great Scott!

01/10/2017 - 5:14pm Dakich

earned a scholarship a long time ago for his contributions to the bench mob.  I don't care if it doesn't necessarily translate to the floor, it has been a joy to watch his celebrations.

Also, I don't think I could have recovered to celebrate receiving the scholarship after that set up.  I would have been absolutely terrified in that situation.

01/10/2017 - 4:05pm On your 2nd question...

Did you mean Gentry instead of Bunting?  As said above, Bunting is the clear cut Flex TE ala Butt.  There is a little more ambiguity with Gentry who seems to be more of a big WR now with the flexibility to play some TE down the line too.  Buting and Gentry are realtively somewhat similar players but Bunting has more of a defined role at this point.

01/08/2017 - 9:44pm It's funny how

It's funny how everyone gets mad at Brian for site functionality when we don't get a recruit we want.  What are you really mad about?  Maybe time to grow up a little bit?
