but I didn't get that from his blog at all.  I just got the same type of corporate smoke blowin' that I get from my own company's CEO.  The translation I get is, "Thanks for all the suggestions, but you are all a bunch of morons!  I know who will be the best fit for this job because he will be working for me.  The only productive thing you can do is shut up! and support whomever I! choose for the job.  Pimp Hand out!"

In Corporate America, pretty much anything written where there's a semi critique needs an exclamation point to emphasize "hey, we're totally cool! Right?! Right?! "

At my old job, I can't tell you how many times people got pissed based off of the 'tone' of an email.   !   :)   :P   :0)   really do work people.

Sigh..it's sad though...

I like Dave Brandon. He communicates with the fans earnestly and appears to grasp the gravity of the situation like we crazy fans do. He seems like an intellegent guy that knows exactly what he's doing and I personally think that he's sending the right message to our fans: "Get on board or get the hell out of the way." If there's one thing we should gave learned is that negativity is counterproductive to our goals and I share that viewpoint with our AD. Hopefully we'll get Gruden... probably Les, or maybe Hoke (who knows?). Either way, I'm going to support the team. After all, it's our team and that's the reason we're even on this blog.

The Team, The Team. The Team.

btw. I think its cool how we have all these bad ass jets...

I thought he came off more as a douche.  It seemed like he wanted to say "You don't know what you're talking about people, I do, shut up."  That may be true, but I'd rather have my own opinion on coaches than just listen to him.  Course, I might be bias as I already don't like him after the angry email he (or his assistant) sent back to me after I said he'd be as hated as Ed Martin in my eyes if he fucked up the Michigan/Ohio State game.

In the end, it seems like he jumped the gun after the push from alums and now he is in over his head because Harbaugh left him.  I could be, and hopefully am, wrong, but that's how it seems to me.

Overuse of exclamation points makes me take someone a lot less seriously.  I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was really trying to get people to stop clogging his inbox with ZOMG!!!11 HIRE ME!!!! type emails when he has work to do.  But exclamation points make him look like a 7th grade girl with a crush.  He should use the sterner full-stop.

How about you stop drafting lengthy blog posts and responding to fan emails and, you know, hire a fucking head coach.

This guy keeps making it harder and harder to believe he isn't about to fuck us all.

Not sure how I feel about that blog post. He's basically saying "support the coach whomever it may be, I've met with the candidates and know them better than any of you, so public perception of each of these guys does not hold any weight (whether its good or bad)".

That could mean anything, I'm just going to continue to wait this one out.

It sounds like he's saying, I know you're going to be disappointed, but let's all be grown ups and support Coach Hoke. He may not be the popular choice, but he's what we got so let's just move forward and hope for the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the RR firing press conference, Brandon mentioned something about people not supporting the next coach before he even got on campus.  At that time, I took it as a statement that the fan/alumni base not supporting RR from the beginning was one part of RR's failure (if failure is even an accurate word).  This might just be more in the same vein, i.e. our treatement of a coach can influence his ability to succeed, so support him, dammit.

no thanks again. why should I or anyone for that matter immediately support an A.D. and one of his old college buddies who he wants to bring in after firing a good coach to do it. maybe if support was there for Rodriguez then alright lets do it, but when the new coach goes 2-10 or 3-9 next season and everyone sees that we're back to square 1, I'll be the first one to pick up a pitchfork and torch. until then i reserve my judgement and support.

No doubt, support can/should wain if the record is 2-10 after year 1.  The point is, don't bring your pitchfork out before the coach has even held a practice.  That's what happened with RR (btw, I usually hoped RR would be back for a 4th season):  the pitchforks came out, and it significantly impacted his ability to be successful.  I believe Brandon is trying to ensure the same thing doesn't happen again.

is certainly not the most charasmatic guy in the world.

Yes, Les has shown he has the ability to win football games (and eat grass and have poor clock management), but would this guy really represent UM the way we need him to?

MichiganStudent

What do you mean represent us the way we need him to?

All the next coach needs to do is win football games, not violate NCAA rules, and not disgrace the university.

Bo, Lloyd, Rich Rod, etc all were not "great" with the media. From what I have seen from Les he will be fine here. We need a guy with a little fire power and bravado. He will be represent us well, but thats just my opinion.

I disagree with that statement. He wins, I don't think he disgraces LSU at all nor would he at Michigan, but he did get int trouble with the NCAA or appears that had some ethical issues with the grayshirts and that QB.

I still think hes the guy. Much more upside with Miles than Hoke IMO

He told a kid that he had a scholarship and then yanked it after the kid got to campus - by form letter. He then lied about it at a press conference. He is also guilty of gross oversigning. That may not be embarrassing in Baton Rouge and the SEC but it won't go over well in Ann Arbor.

Whoever that was sure looked and sounded like Miles.  the way I could tell it was either an imposter, clone or cyborg is that it wasn't wearing a hat or eating grass, and didn't mention it's damn fine football team.  It also seemed WAY to consice and eloquent to be Miles.  There wasn't enough info to evaluate it's clock management skills, so I don't know if the scientist/programmers got that part right.

You really got my hopes up. =-(

fuuuuuuuuck

it is an honor to represent Michigan and discuss our football program's needs and opportunities with a variety of impressive candidates and/or people who can offer valuable advice and input.

this is the "we talked to Les Miles to see what he thought about Hoke/whoever" card.

I noted we would be conducting a national search for our next football coach. Some would suggest we should complete this national search in a matter of hours, but this is a critical decision for Michigan Athletics and it cannot and will not be made in haste.

Translation= I still have nothing done and I probably should have started before Jan. 5th

The last week should be a reminder to everyone not to believe everything you read or hear. Some of the so-called "news reports" over the past week have been simply ridiculous.

Translation: Hahahahhahahaha...Patterson, Gruden, Dungry, and anyone not Hoke or Miles.

I would bet that in the majority of cases, fans have never met and interviewed any of the coaches they are either supporting or trashing, so they really don't have any idea what kind of people they really are!

Translation: I am picking Hoke or Miles, get over it.

The most important thing everyone can do at this point to help Michigan football is to prepare to greet our new coach with all of the support, encouragement and positive energy that we can muster. Getting our football program turned around quickly is our goal, and having our fans and supporters "jump on board" early with our new coach will help him be successful -- which is what we all want!

Translation: No Srsly, I am picking Hoke or Miles. I would say "All In" but that would be awkward. Sorry I started this process so late and at an inconvenient time. Go Blue! Go Hoke! Go Miles!
