CC: Who Does Washington Hire?
With Kalen DeBoer all but signed in Tuscaloosa...who does Washington hire to replace him?
(FYI - I've already looked at their roster and their commitments...no one stands out as an obvious transfer candidate. Alabama seems to have more guys that Michigan has or would target.)

Yeah, I'd agree that Washington would be a significant step up.
January 13th, 2024 at 11:58 AM ^
Washington also has a two MNCs, several legendary college players, and even a few guys in the NFL Hall-of-Fame.
Arizona doesn't really have that same level of program success.

None of that does anything for Jedd.

Big10 vs whatever's left of the B12.. not at all a lateral move
January 12th, 2024 at 3:05 PM ^
Grubb or Fisch seem like the most likely course of action but I could see them wanting to talk to Sherrone Moore.
January 12th, 2024 at 5:51 PM ^
I don't see it with Moore. It would be a complete change in offensive philosophy and he's still extremely young at only 37 to be taking over a P5 program that just came off a CFP championship game. Their stock is at an all time high so they should be shooting for higher than someone who has been an OC for all of 3 seasons.

Jedd Fisch
January 12th, 2024 at 3:08 PM ^
No!!!! He’s reserved for Michigan if/when the ‘Baugh leaves.
January 12th, 2024 at 3:21 PM ^
If Harbaugh leaves, Sherrone Moore will be, without a doubt, the next head coach.
January 12th, 2024 at 3:39 PM ^
Especially now that DeBoer is off the board as an option. And we know Dan Lanning isn't leaving Oregon. It's extremely clear cut now that Moore is the obvious successor.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:28 PM ^
Especially considering Harbaugh would do everything he could to take Minter with him. There's just no one else. Thankfully, I don't think it's going to be an issue as Harbaugh is going to come back (along with JJ and Donovan). I actually would prefer Minter be the successor but the players and everyone wants Moore and who are we to argue with the players?
January 12th, 2024 at 5:03 PM ^
did he tell you?
January 13th, 2024 at 12:01 PM ^
Minter has shown enough to deserve a shot in the NFL.
January 12th, 2024 at 5:02 PM ^
I haven't forgotten Q2 and Q3 of the NCG. If you're right(and I hope you're not) if Harbaugh leaves we are screwed IMO.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:34 PM ^
I have a special place in my heart for Jedd. Would rather not play him in conference.
January 12th, 2024 at 3:11 PM ^
Sherrone Moore.
January 12th, 2024 at 3:12 PM ^
Probably no one that great. While Washington is gonna have that B1G money soon, it's still not that attractive of a job and Penix is out the door. I'd bet they're looking at 6-8 wins next year
January 12th, 2024 at 3:22 PM ^
Our matchup in Seattle just got a lot easier on paper. Thankfully, I'm planning to be at that game!
January 12th, 2024 at 3:14 PM ^
Mel Tucker is available....
January 12th, 2024 at 3:34 PM ^
Nobody wants to talk with Mel Tucker over the phone any more.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:30 PM ^
He’s going to start a podcast with Zach Smith…seriously that how does he ever get a job in football again…then again Durkin killed a kid and got work.
January 12th, 2024 at 5:29 PM ^
Rich Rod is coaching again. Granted, it’s not a high level job, but still coaching. I believe he was also the OC of Mississippi or Mississippi State recently. What happened at Arizona was probably as bad as what happened with Tucker.

Tugger
January 12th, 2024 at 3:29 PM ^
Coach Grubb. Easy.
January 12th, 2024 at 3:31 PM ^
That's who they should hire. But is it who they will hire?
January 12th, 2024 at 3:29 PM ^
Pete Carroll is available and wouldn’t even have to move.
January 12th, 2024 at 3:41 PM ^
Poor Damn Huskies…
3 good-great coaches over the last 14 years and they can’t hold any of them.
SO ANYWAY, WE WON THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
HAIL
January 12th, 2024 at 3:53 PM ^
Maybe Saban will come out of retirement for them.

What a kick to the groin for Washington. First they lost the national championship game, then their coach. Just goes to show you how quick fortunes can change.
January 12th, 2024 at 3:56 PM ^
Wrenching start to 2024 for the Huskies if this plays out. Made two perfect hires (Chris Petersen, Kaken DeBoer) in ten years, now have to make another one.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:10 PM ^
Is it possible Petersen comes back? He's only 60 and a good coach...
January 12th, 2024 at 4:10 PM ^
I could see them targeting Sherrone if we retain Harbaugh. He’s certainly earned the opportunity to be a HC somewhere.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:15 PM ^
Can we get Courtney back?
January 12th, 2024 at 4:21 PM ^
I’ve been wondering this for a while I don’t know why he even left in the first place that dudes very good at what he does. A lot of the players on this championship team were hidden gems he scouted
January 12th, 2024 at 4:19 PM ^
I know Matt Campbell has lost a lot of his luster the last couple of years (thank God Warde didn't listen to idiots like me who wanted him to replace Harbaugh after 2020), but he still has the best record of any coach at Iowa State since Earle Bruce left for OSU. Pretty impressive to go 7-6 this year despite his QB RB being kicked off the team for gambling.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:26 PM ^
I think the first call has got to be to Jedd Fisch. Anyone else seems like a real shot in the dark.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:34 PM ^
Jedd Fisch is probably the best available name out there. Otherwise probably one of our coordinators or one of theirs if they don't all go to Alabama.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:38 PM ^
Pat Fitzgerald…
January 12th, 2024 at 4:41 PM ^
They are purple and I'm sure they have showers at Washington.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:41 PM ^
Just as long as they leave our guys alone. They may have been impressed by our OC and DC.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:57 PM ^
i’m sorry, but why do we care?
January 12th, 2024 at 5:04 PM ^
because they're in our conference now and whoever they hire might affect our decision tree if Harbaugh leaves.
January 12th, 2024 at 5:22 PM ^
Stunned no one has mentioned Lance Leipold yet. He's had success at every step including in arguably the worst job int he P5.
January 12th, 2024 at 7:13 PM ^
Jedd Fisch would be my guess
January 12th, 2024 at 7:43 PM ^
It's obvious they must try for OC Ryan Grubb. They are an offensive program and he would help stabilize this program during a very difficult transition.
