That sounds like great news to me. Moore stepping in as OL coach was a little concerning given his lack of experience coaching the position. It will be good to have more support for him.

I wouldn’t give him a title based on the local paper, which also says UM has agreed to. It recruit St. Frances for two years—witch indicates off the field position. I don’t like the move if that is true, because then we don’t have a chance at Maryland’s top guys, and it is a state where Jim built roots for seven years.

There is a LOT of opposition to him and the way they built the program.  They've essentially gone out and recruited players from around not only Maryland, but surrounding states as well.  The Catholic school provides scholarships funded by the local parish to 'low-income' kids.  And don't think Biff hasn't put some of his own money into that scholly fund.  He did personally fund a lot of the training and facilities equipment they have.  And because of all of this, he has a hard time scheduling games (especially home games) and he's a pariah in Maryland football circles.  But players and parents around the state love him, if they can get access.

It seem like a similar setup to what DePorres and Country Day used to do back in the days of Chris Webber, et all...

The NCAA kinda loosened that rule. It’s “two years prior to the student-athlete enrolling” and they don’t consider the student athletes arriving in summer as enrolled until the fall semester.

So it shuts Michigan out of the 2022 class, but Michigan is allowed to recruit that school again for the 2023 class as long as the kid isn’t early enrolling. So for example, MSU isn’t allowed to recruit Cass Tech this year because of Wilcher but they are allowed to recruit Jalen Thompson (#167 overall player in 2023) from Cass Tech but he’s not allowed to enroll early. So skip whatever class you’re currently recruiting and don’t allow the next class to early enroll and you fit the NCAA criteria.

Yay NCAA.

Huhhh this is an ambitious and interesting move. Seems like the only downside is not being able to recruit St. Frances for a couple years? Should help with other DC-area schools tho

We don't have anymore coaching spots available.

Are we sure it's not Assistant to the Head Coach or Associate AD?

Edit: this is accurate. His daughter is at Michigan and he's there to basically be friends with Jim and mentor all the young coaches he hired (while helping Moore with the OL).

Doesn't look like any '22 guys from St. Frances are headed this way (at least no one's been mentioned in Seth's roundups), and there are no '23s on the radar. So on the one hand I say no big loss, on the other hand, JH has the head coach in his pocket and all he has to show for it is Blake Corum and Nikhai Hill-Green?

Hopefully this is good news but I still can’t see our staffing situation as anything other than a monkey rodeo. Every hire outside of Hart and Clinkscale feels quite desperate.

Well, considering the state of the offense for the last 4 years, it still need all the help it can get from experienced, well-regarded coaches.  And looking at how Brown's defense literally fell off a cliff last season, that side also needs new blood and experienced, well-regarded help.  I'm for bringing in all the help they can get - god knows Jim needs it...

You put MacDonald in

You ship Don Brown out

You bring Biff back in

And you shake it all about

You do the Pogi Poggi to turn yourself around

That's what it's all about
