Balas: NCAA to visit Michigan on Thursday to discuss Signalgate

Submitted by Communist Football on October 24th, 2023 at 7:43 PM

"Michigan is expected to receive a visit from the NCAA late this week, multiple sources have informed TheWolverine.com." Full article here. Says that Michigan takes the scouting issue seriously, and the outcome could determine the timing of Harbaugh's contract extension.

We are idiots if we don’t sign Harbaugh to an extension sooner than later. I would get him that contract extension while the NCAA was visiting if not in the same meeting. If Michigan wasn’t winning games, this wouldn’t have even came up. Harbaugh will likely be gone after all of this without that extension and public support soon, and very few would blame him. We bow down to the mob, and that’s why we will continually get blasted. Happened since the days of the Fab Five.

Honestly the only thing that’s going to cause issues is once again if Jim thinks nothing wrong was done that stubborn SOB will dig in again.

I love how I get neg’d for the literal truth on Jim. If he thinks he did nothing wrong he will make it hard on everyone who has to deal with it. It’s literally how he operates on this stuff his whole life.

Didn’t say he wasn’t a great person. I can see all the people who really didn’t play sports because being an SOB in sports is the best thing of all!

Oh and everyone worrying Jim leaves for NFL because of this stuff still don’t understand what makes Jim tick. This shit will make him want to stay

Not thread-Jack here….

Seeing this happen to what looks like the best team since ‘97 has me depressed….

I use humor to cope.

So today I attached a go pro to my Buckeye friend and colleague’s desk pointed right at where he would normal sit with the label “Property of Michigan Scouting Dept.  Go Blue”

Screw it, I’m going to embrace it.  We have no control over how it ends up.  Just hope we go undefeated,  my colleague is openly hoping the BIG bars us from the title game because he knows we are the better team.

Absolutely embrace it.

”You changed your signs last year and still got your ass manhandled. We don’t need your signals to punk you”

Wait until this year when we kick the living shit out of them. It’s going to massive shit talking after. It will be glorious

The truth about how much buckeye fans really believe in this stuff will ultimately reveal itself after we bash there heads in this year or even again next year. If they start calling for 3rd bases head or put him on the hot seat then it proves deep down they don’t actually believe there own rhetoric. If the truly believe they were just robbed by cheaters then he should have a clean slate right ?

The order of operations here really does make it feel like this has been led by outside leakers and not the NCAA, as they seemingly were caught flat footed here.  I assume they'd have visited before announcing the investigation otherwise.

I don't admire it.  I find it amazing that this is what OSU has been reduced to.  They preach "toughness and physicality" yet resort to tattling to the NCAA because they can't hang with us on the field.  It's pathetic.  Woody Hayes would probably punch Cryin' Day like he did that Clemson player for such softness.

Can and will are two vastly different things. BIG would be a fool to cut one of their biggest cash cows at the knees and Fox wouldn’t allow it, either.

like I said in a previous thread though, the biggest concern isn’t BIG levying punishments, it’s making sure we get a fair shake from the refs moving forward. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s so unofficial mandates, especially when we play OSU

If the Big Ten levies punishment, then Michigan should go have some conversations with the SEC about potentially joining that conference. At this point, with USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington joining the Big Ten, it’s not like tradition even matters anymore. If other Big Ten schools want to damage Michigan over something so small, particularly OSU, then I’d say fuck maintaining traditional rivalries and move on. Interest in the Big Ten would crumble without Michigan. Even during the RichRod and Hoke years, ratings were still higher for Michigan than any other team in the conference except OSU. Michigan had more eyeballs than MSU, and MSU owned Michigan during that period. Money is all that matters in the Big Ten now, so if the rest of the conference wants to pile on Michigan, let’s see what kind of TV deal they can get without Michigan. And a side benefit, I’d bet that Michigan teams would probably travel fewer miles per year in the SEC than in the Big Ten without the lengthy West Coast trips.
