These fake accounts are getting out of control. Created an account 11 minutes ago to tell yourself great post.

We all know about the oline and its importance on the direction this season goes. However I believe the difference between this season being good to special will come down to the pass catchers.  I mostly believe this because the variance in potential play from this group ceiling to floor is a gigantic gap.  The truth is the wr's have proven very little and still will only be in there second seasons, a lot of us could be jumping the gun on there progression.  They could very well be stuck on average for another season.  At the same time I don't think anyone would be surprised if Black, DPJ and Gentry are all pushing for all big 10 honors. If the pass catchers make the leap and can consistently get separation and make contested catches against good competition I think we see Shea in New York. If not the defense is going to have to grind out a long season.

As far as the oline I think the variance is much smaller. I think a lot of last season mishaps in pass pro get cleaned up along with Shea having better pocket awareness, quicker release and escapability.  The running game will dominate weaker teams and improve against the better ones ( partially due to shea) but overall I don't see this being a dominate oline in many scenarios, with the pass catchers there's a chance they could be special, or maybe there a year away from that. We'll see.

Even with the schedule I don't see more than 2 losses. If the passing game is elite the sky is the limit.

07/19/2018 - 9:48pm I get the "competition"…

I get the "competition" thing but sometimes, especially at qb when everyone knows who the best player is, its best to just annoint your leader and let the team get behind him.

07/19/2018 - 6:59pm Yes the line was poor, very…

Yes the line was poor, very poor. A problem that further exasperated by a qb that could not identify anything the defense was doing pre snap ( or post snap for that matter) . I hate to bag on him but were arguing UM history.  This blog has an odd reverence for alot of players from the rr/hoke years. I remember a cover post ( dont recall author) i belive posted late season of harbaughs first year that compared the individual defensive players to players on UM past using a grading scale ( 1-5 i think). It rated the likes of des morgan and joe bolden at or above just about every lber not named Harris including Foote, Jones , Gold. It truely lacked perspective of how talented Lloyds teams were. Shit Chris Graham was significantly better than those guys.  Dont even get me started on Kovacs....not that he was terrible but he certainly wasnt anything special.

07/19/2018 - 3:30pm Its irrelevant and frankly…

Its irrelevant and frankly turned this entire exercise into a joke right from the start (other wise a good read) but this isnt even close or debatable. DG had heart sure but he wasnt very good at playing qb. Switch him and Drews place in UM history and Brady Hoke mite still be around and John Navarre probably ends up starting in 2000 over Gardner

12/11/2017 - 11:31am agreed

While this site creates an amazing fan experience for all of us it does come with what at times feels like a bit of propaganda for the program.  Pushing a narritive to achieve a certain result or mind set.  Maybe if enough people start pushing the " Peters is the fav to start and Shea is overated" narrative than Peters will be less likely to transfer?

12/11/2017 - 11:20am whats desperate about it?

Whats desperate about it?  UM fan base may not be as familiar with all of this but transfers happen every year at both big and small programs, espeically at the qb position with only 1 guy really being able to play. I dont recall the "desperate" takes when OKorn and Ruddock came here? Its like theres a negative vibe added on because the kids actually good instead of "depth".  There's nothing sleezy about taking on guys who want to transfer out of there current situation for greater opportunity.  Bama and Auburn have both won national titles with transfer qb's.  Johnny Football and Baker Mayfield both transfered and had great success.  Nobody thinks back at JM as an Oregon transfer.  The list goes on and on and will only continue.

12/11/2017 - 10:52am skill set

what is it that brian or yourself see that Peters does better than Shea? We all know you guys fawned over him in person and his ability to "change ball speeds"  but i really dont see what valuable skill Peters has that is superior to Shea's.  I would bet that by the tme the team is in South Bend that Shea even has a greater command of the offense than Peters as he seems like an ultra competitive high work ethic athlete.  Love your site but the OKorn comment really comes off as lazy an unaware of just how terrible OKorn played at UM.

12/11/2017 - 9:05am should probably wait

til i have time to listen to the podcast later in the day to comment by how do you come to the conclusion that Peters should be the favorite?  Going just off the information we have on both young men i struggle to see what it is that you would expect Peters to do better than Shea?  Shea is much better athlete with a stronger and more accurate arm.  Again judging on the information thats available it would appear that Shea is much more dedicatied to the game and working to master his craft.  Looks an awful lot like the guy who just won the heisman.  Do you think Shea would have also sat behind a struggling O'Korn this past season?

This isnt a blast on Peters ive always been a supporter of his and see a ton of potential in him but Patterson at this point looks to be a far superior qb imo.  Looking foward to an open comp and hoping it brings out the best in all parties is one thing but flat out saying " Peters has to be the favorite here"  seems to reek of unsubstantial bias.

Shea has been around and worked with Peters doing the high school circuit/aa games and i would bet him choosing to come here is somewhat predicated on that expereince giving him greatt confidence that he can beat this guy out.

12/09/2017 - 10:36am ?

Double post

12/09/2017 - 8:27am no problem with him

I don't know WD, haven't paid much attention to any of his previous posts. That particular one however was absolutely hilarious. Who's this "we" you speak for? I'd like to see the people who hijack every thread with there ridiculously redundant and repetitive lame jokes grow up. Your post reeks of typical hypocrisy

12/09/2017 - 8:01am underestimate

I think you underestimate how truly lame some of these turds may be. Did you happen to catch WDs post the other day proclaiming to the world he had found a girl that would sleep with him and he was soooo in luv, hilarious picture included? I was literally snickering to myself threw the night hours later. It was epic doushery.

I like Barrett's game. He's got some wheels and just looks like a true footballer, reminds me a bit of Hawkins in that respect. Could see him playing on either side of the ball. Good get if true

11/25/2017 - 1:51pm N one deep

And u just kick it into the end zone, smooth ace

Until someone in the media without UM connections starts calling out the crooked officiating it will continue. Only going to get worse in 2nd half need a playoff spot to be on the line next week

11/25/2017 - 1:38pm Don brown got schooled on that drive

Trying to hard to get cute , it's not necessary. You have the talent to play straight up. Leaving quarters of the field undefended

11/25/2017 - 1:31pm So close

That JM dropped pick will most likely end up being the moment this game went from a win to a loss

11/25/2017 - 1:23pm Refs smell there opportunities

Refs see there chance to turn this game right here and took it.......

Book u refs!!!,

11/25/2017 - 1:22pm Donny

11/17/2017 - 6:43pm Disagree

Couldn't disagree more. I think Gruden going back to the NFL would have a high flop potential at this point but he would a lot of success at the college level imo. He'd no question become a great recruiter I don't think anyone would disagree with that. Huge name recognition, unbelievable energy and work ethic, NFL pedigree and the kind of personality a lot of kids and families are going to fall in love with. A bit of a mad man but he's also the genius article, he is who he is and doesn't apologize. This all sounds strangely familiar.

He would hire elite level coordinators while he learns on the job adjusting to the college game and again insatiable work ethic. His offensive background is west coast run heavy and he also enjoys having mobile
Qbs and is very open minded. He would salivate at the opportunity to implement modern college schemes into his offense.

11/01/2017 - 3:48pm Hopefully not

It will likely die down when UM loses another game or Peters fails.  As long as UM continues to win with Peters playing well the second guessing will continue.  If UM somehow manages to win out the decision to play Okorn over Peters likely cost the team the MSU game and a spot in the playoffs.  Big IF there but its potentially looming, lets hope so.

10/30/2017 - 1:42pm meritocracy

Sure if Peters completly crashes and burns im sure Speight would have a solid chance to come back and win the job.  I dont see that happening personally.  Im sure Peters will have some freshman hiccups over the final 2 games maybe even before then but to my eyes its pretty evident Peters is superior talent.  He showed an ability to read the defense and get the ball out of his hand to the proper option that i just never saw with Wilt.  People need to stop the Purdue game comparisons, they looked nothing alike.  OKorn had a Favre esc school yard type performance in that game, something that was predictably unsustainable.  Peters came in on Saturday and it was like a light went off for the entire offense.  The quick check down to Poggi for example is something the other two just would not have seen.  He read the defense immediately and knew where he was going with the ball and put it on him the second he presented himself to the qb.  Very simple play but it showed me something.

Im a huge Harbaugh fan.  He's a great coach and the right man for the job long term (here comes the but).  Can we please stop with the meritocracy shtick?  It's cute to say and create competition and yada yada yada but its become the new BPA.  The evidence against it is begining to mount. Niether Joe Bolden nor Des Morgan were better that Ben Gedeon and Matt Godin sure as shit wasnt ever at any point better to or even close to equal to Mo Hurst.  I dont even complelty disagree with the use of Hurst on the so called 2nd line last year.  It made the 2nd line a weapon in a way that Godin just wouldnt have.(although i still have nightmares of osu gashing relentlessly 2 years in a row right over Godin while im yelling at my TV to put Hurst in there)  That said you just cant call it a meritocracy and give Godin the start over Hurst, theres really no argument for that.

10/30/2017 - 10:33am pot/kettle

what exactly was your reply beyond stupid and lazy?

10/30/2017 - 10:20am hypocrite

Really doesnt matter what the other guy had to say when you make a post like this you become an equal contributor to the problem.

I certainly dont agree with the attitude of slamming a kids commitment but i can understand the frustration.  Michigan is behind OSU and Penn State right now along with another dozen or so programs nationally.. Theres alot of ground to make up and taking what almost appears as a year off is only " likely" to widen the gap. People need to stop overvalueing there (or our) contributions to the state and future of the program.  Yes kids read social media and this site but its largely irrelevant.  OSU and Bama have some the craziest and outlandish fans in all of sports and thats when there actually winning and accomplashing things.  Hasnt really seemed to have a negative effect on any of there recruiting.  Social media is full of ass hats, kids are not choosing what college to attend based on these ass hats.

10/28/2017 - 6:54pm cowardly

NW deserves nothing after going into that defensive shell. Just handed them the 1st 60 yards.

10/27/2017 - 2:00pm freaking out

Why do the people who are constantly freaking out and insulting everyone they dont agree with keep telling everyone else to " stop freaking out"  Having a negative opinion (while unbecoming)  is not freaking out.  Acting like a child throwing temper tantrum insulting everryone seems far more like freaking out to me.

I wouldnt worry to much about a crystal bal on a 19 kid just yet for what its worth.

10/26/2017 - 12:08pm MGoPoints

You understand that outside of the dozen or so of you guys who think you own this board the rest of us couldn't care less about being negged or accumulating MGoPoints. This obsession is partially responsable for ruining nearly every good football discussion on this board.  Obviously contradicting myself but most threads would be alot more productive if people only posted when they had something worth while to add to the actual op topic.
