As someone not living locally, who are the currently suspended players? I know the pre-Spring Game press conference generated some weirdness because they weren't acknowledged because "everyone knew who they were." Well, who are they?

I have no idea why people won't name names.  It's the internet.  We don't know shit, but we've all heard the same names.  I could share with you what I've heard and wouldn't bat an eye. But it's going to draw the wrath of select people here who think I'm ruining some kid's life by perpetuating internet fodder, and I'm going to get indignant about it and argue with some butthole for the next 3 hours and frankly, I just don't want to deal with that right now.

I'm going to grudgingly suggest you search elsewhere.  Maybe dig through RCMB.  That's where I found the name of this latest 4th guy.

Donnie Corley, Demetric Vance and Josh King are the rumored players under investigation. They are innocent until proven guilty. The latest investigation is rumored to involve Auston Robertson. These names are just rumored, and they have not been convicted of any crimes.

According to an article on cbssports.com (link below), Robertson entered into a pre-trial diversion agreement on a misdemeanor assault charge on March 11, 2016. If he kept his nose clean for a year, the charges would be dropped. IF he is guilty of a new crime and it happened on or before March 11 of this year, he would presumably be facing a double whammy.

Wow. A nightmare offseason for the MSU athletic department.

But not as nightmarish as the fallout for the alleged victims, for whom the consequences are horrifically real, as opposed to just athletic.

In other MSU news, I did see that Miles Bridges is announcing tonight that he is returning next year and not leaving for the NBA.   At least that is some good news for MSU athletics that they can hang their hat on.

The senior athletic administration must bear full responsibility for the Nassar situation.  I am really surprised that the outcry has not been stronger about placing the gymnastics team at risk for that predator when there were warning signs in plain sight.

I hope a full investigation will take place. And I, too, wonder if Hollis should be fired--he's in charge of the department, and we now have issues in multiple sports.

But it is really important to understand the WHAT and the WHY of this rather than just chop the head off of the convenient authority figure.

If Nassar stuff trickled upstream to Hollis when it was active and he was negligent in addressing it or actively attempted to quash it, he should be fired and may be prosecuted. But if it never got to him, and he had in place procedures that were appropriate, and he addressed things properly as soon as they came to him, then he's not necessarily the bad guy.

Similarly, with the football team, if he was getting wind of "issues" at parties or with certain players and kicked the can down the road, that's a problem and he should answer for it. But if there was no smoke prior to the current prosecutions, and he handled them correctly (for whatever motivation, the evidence now of suspensions of players and a coach suggests that they're being thorough here) he's not the fall guy and shouldn't be.

An important part of levying consequences for administrative neglect in these scandals is to serve as a deterent in future situations. Prematurely axing a guy who turns out not to be the one at fault is a great way of encouraging future administrators to cover something up, since it suggests that they will be held guilty by association anyway and would be better served to never let something get out. On the other hand, punishing the right people will show that those responsible must act while not egregiously harming those who were innocent.

The good news is that we will probably find out what really did happen here. There must be thorough legal and media investigations of what is going on. Something is wrong. I don't know if it's Hollis, but it's something.

But when added to the Nasser stuff, the recent-past Football and MBB incidents, the Softball coach who had her own players beaned (still on staff) in the non-sports category you have something there. In the "it's your actual job" category, you can add the retention of the Hockey coach for many years past when he should have been fired, the fact that the majority of MSU non-rev sports teams and venues are poor, AND my personal favorite--- renewing the MSU Nike deal (before it expired) 3 months before Michigan signed for about 5x as much. But hey - he is probably busy scheduling a MSU vs. UNC exhibition basketball game on a jumbo jet while circling the North Pole so he has that going for him.

"Sexual assault" can mean a lot of different things, from grabbing someone's butt who you mistakenly thought was wanting to grind on the dance floor to forcible rape.  Neither is good, but it's silly to say they are similarly serious.

And there is no real factual context in the story.  Much as I love to pile on MSU (and boy, do I love to do that) it seems a bit premature to be casting stones here.

I will watch for more info, but in the meantime this is only a storm cloud on a (already very stormy) horizon.  Let's see what develops.

there isn't any cover up or anything that would lead to leadership changes, other than the one coach who is on administrative leave until they terminate him

Is there any truth to the rumor that Ingham County is a potential location for a future production of a sequel to 'The Longest Yard'?  Would the inmate team be the Mean Machine, or Green Machine?  /s

Kidding aside, I really do hope that program gets their respective $*** together.

For all the crying Sharty Nation does about the media I think the media has cut them slack on this matter, the Bullough Rose Bowl suspension, the issues with his inbred brother Riley even the Reschke stuff

This new one is Auston Robertson and he had issues in high school so people say he is kicked off the team permanently now.  Glad he didn't come here.

Their 2016 class has been blown up.  The top 3 players from it are suspended, and a 4th player was also one of their few 4 stars.

I knew it then. When a kid has two arrests in high school you just pass. When a kid has two arrests for sexual stuff you slam the door. You cannot blame a coach for what some players do, but when you willingly bring in bad seeds you should be blamed and held accountable. Hate to say it but Mark should really watch what he says for the rest of his life. Pride comes before the fall. The man is prolific. LOL.    It's almost like AR felt left out. Is he the character players MSU was talking about. This one is Dantonio's fault period. He brought a predator to campus on scholarship. I knew it!!!.  Dantonio is in deep shit on this one and I don't think he should be the msu football coach any longer. AR is a predator and needs to live in Baraga or Alger for a while. There is no question on this one after three arrests. Oh ya to the prosecutor in Ohio who let this puke walk twice.....FUCK you!!! Sorry michighen can you call him for me also. I am almost positive they want to here about AR raping someone for the third time.
