3 on 3 Basketball added to 2020 Olympics

The Olympic committee just added 3 on 3 basketball to the 2020 Olympics.  It sounds like a terrible idea yet I'm intrigued and will definitely watch it.  I'm curious to see if NBA players will sign up for this.  Per Olympic.org:

Each match lasts a maximum of 10 minutes, with a 12-second shot clock. It is played on half a court, with one hoop. There is no halftime, and no quarters or no time-outs. And it is typically accompanied by non-stop music, DJs and break-dancers. Basketball 3x3 is set to make quite an entrance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

“Everybody has fun. The players, the audience, they have a really good time, they are surrounded by music, it’s in the open air,” Dusan Bulut, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 world number one-ranked player, said. “It's global, it’s urban, it’s a show.”

This is a terrible idea. I am 100% not joking when I say this, but I think dodgeball would be a way cooler and more popular addition to the Olympics. Can you imagine national rivalries playing out on a dodgeball court? FUCK YEAH!

The Sixers could beat a team of five decent players from Jamaica.  I like competitive basketball and the only was the USA will lose with the professionals is if the best stop playing and the others get disinterested on the court.

As long as the USA keeps sending its best, it will be more of a race to get Silver or Bronze between Spain, France, Argentina and a couple other countries.

Exactly.

They've cast aside 100 years of time-transcending tradition to chase $$$ to make corrupt millionaires even more money.

It's all about schlock now.

3 on 3 figure eight demolition derby is coming soon.

Upvote from a fellow former toilet bowl champ!

The Mackers are still around. Nothing like they used to be, though, in my opinion.

This is very dumb but then again sports are kind of silly, so why not?

Most of the swimming event categories are dedicated to less efficient means of getting from point A to point B and we're used to that. We can get used to two forms of olympic basketball.

I just hope the US team starts KD, Kawhi and Draymond or something similarly impossible to deal with.

I don't think LeBron will do any more Olympics and I honestly just forgot about Paul George who would be great for this. Draymond is good, man. Uniquely suited to guarding all spots while also keeping huge dudes from establishing position in the paint. He can come off the bench if it makes you feel better.

Yes, no matter what your opinion of the event itself, let us commence in the real point of this thread: Who would be the best possible U.S. team?

I think Klay Thomson would be a great option since he's long, he can shoot and defend really well, whereas someone like Russel Westbrook wouldn't be as good because he can't run the floor and there are no fast breaks. Anthony Davis would be very good as welll.
