2022 DL Alex VanSumeren Commits to Michigan

Pretty wild. He's still going to grow and put on muscle in the weight room over the next few years. I'm curious to see where he ends up as a recruit.

Holy hell!  This dude will need a few years on campus to get used to 11 man football because that competition he plays against in high is absolutely terrible.   

He's what ya call kind of a Swiss Army Knife, Jack of all Trades type...

Iowa recruited him as LB.  He had so much hype coming into the season, got playing time early, then just disappeared.  Was it two fumbles he had?  Did not look dynamic as a runner, though we heard Gattis talk about him over and over.  

May be time to see if he can Winovich. 

havent seen enough yet to know.  if they trust him to block from various angles and catch the ball, gattis will find ways to use those skills.  they wont overhaul the O but there are plenty of ways to attack from 2 back sets with versatile H.  mason can be a load in certain calls but hes also limited and too stiff to handle some duties - maybe vansumeren has better ball skills and presents a legit threat in pass game.  

one of my favorite recent Os to watch was oklahoma with dimitri flowers.  if they can get vansumeren to even half that level, itd be worthwhile to involve him in the O.  schoonmaker and all look promising as next TEs up but who knows.  theyre not real deep at TE so maybe they try to involve more H like mason and vansumeren

Ben isn't a fullback.  He's actually a running back.  I never understood why he's flopped around position wise so much.  RB is going to be well stocked come next fall, I wouldn't doubt a move back to LB.

As for the competition Alex plays against, yeah its not very good.
