We Must Find Brady Hoke's Abductor And Perfect The Aliens' Cloning Technology! Our World Is Counting On Us! Comment Count

Brian

Just havin' a normal day you guys. Just hanging out, having a day.

Oh no you guys! It finally happened. Brady Hoke has been replaced by a shapeshifting alien. I told you all that this day would come and all you guys ever said was "that is ridiculous and will never happen" WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW

Nobody. This is a crisis. Does anyone have, like, an ablative jetpack exoskeleton I can borrow? Something like this:

xcom-warspace[1]

Except with more weapons probably.

Where is Dave Brandon and what have they done with him? I would expect it to be the Michigan Football Wow Experience Open Practice Sponsored by Kraft, and we find out about it by FOIAing the fireworks permit and jet fighter overflight documents and cross-referencing with Beyonce's scheduler.

Oh, and some guy in the band Tweeting that Brandon's charging them $5/apiece to attend.

Yes.  Engineers first to get up Uplinks and Satellites to increase the money supply.  For the first ~three or four months of the game that's your limiting factor.  Then it becomes weapon fragments.

My tendency is to research armor ASAP.  Though you should grab the two South American countries to get that bonus early on.  Instant bio research is amazing.

I was addicted to Terror From the Deep.  Maybe I still am....I keep a PC assembled in my basement closet that runs windows 98 for the sole purpose of being able to play that game every few years when I get the urge.  Yeah I think that's addiction.

I'm disappointed to find that this is the only thing tagged with 'exoskeleton jetpack'

Edit: Apparently I had almost the exact same thought as the gentleman above

Good lord you people are insufferable, is there anything you can't find something to bitch about?

#1 RB recruit says we're his favorite school - "I'll get excited when he visits/that didn't work for Harris."

#1 player in the country commits to us - "He doesn't look 6'1" to me/why isn't he playing safety?"

Our overweight RB drops 25 lbs - "His legs look too skinny"

#1 RB in the state commits to us over State - "But they got Thompson/Scott"

It's never enough is it?

What's the alternative, 30 second clips filmed in pore-O-vision? You get to spend a couple hours inside the greatest stadium in the country with a few thousand of your fellow fans, watching the team with your own eyeballs, and it's all free. There is literally no down side to this.

I agree ... it's a good thing, and I think it's more than just a PR stunt.

There's a part of me that thinks this signals a subtle shift ... towards more of a mindset of winning based on playing better than the other team rather than winning based on secrecy and tricks-up-the-sleeve.

Now, I doubt very much the open practice will reveal everything, of course.  But still, it's a departure from the past three years.  Maybe we're seeing a glimmer of coaching confidence in the players and the talent on hand.  Less need for secrets and tricks; now it's more straight-up football and beat us if you can.

Maybe?  Or maybe I'm just overhyped for the season to start.

it's probably Hoke as well as the other coaches wanting to see what these guys can do on the field.  Yeah, you get a lot of reps in practice but there's usually coaching going on after every play.  You do a scrimmage at the big house, you get somewhat of a game like feel and see what these guys can do and figure out on their own without the benefits of coaches helping them after every play.

Would bet two tickets to Appy State that the AD and the (accurate) perception of growing restlessness in the fan base is behind this.  I am not against it at all, and I hope it generates some positive buzz.

I take this as a good sign. It could be many things but if they're willing to show an open practice this close to the season maybe they like what they see. I'm glad they're finally doing something for the fans.

Nobody should be bitching about it, but I do have a suggestion: Brandon should set himself up in a dunk tank outside the stands, charge $5 per ball, and donate the proceeds to Mott Children's Hospital.

Yes ... you stated more clearly what I was trying to get at in my post above.

I just have this sense that the open practice is a sign of coaching confidence ... that they have a better sense they can control the game better than they were able the past two years.
