Jordan Marshall Has Committed to Michigan Comment Count

In a huge development for 2024 Michigan Football recruiting, the Wolverines have landed 4* RB Jordan Marshall

Marshall was near the top of Michigan's board in terms of 2024 running backs and getting his commitment is a major win in more ways than one. First of all, Marshall is by all accounts a very good football player. He's ranked 91st nationally in the 24/7 composite for the 2024 class, 7th among RBs. On3's Consensus has Marshall 90th nationally, 6th among RBs. This is a big boy get in terms of recruiting rankings, and it's doubly as big for Mike Hart, who has gotten flack as a recruiter in football recruiting circles for his decision to take 3* Benjamin Hall in the 2023 class. In getting Marshall on board, Hart shows he means business when it comes to elite recruits in 2024.

Of course the bigger story here is Marshall being from Ohio. Playing at Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati, Marshall was a direct head-to-head recruiting battle with Ohio State in the Buckeyes' backyard that Hart and Harbaugh appear to have won. That's a massive development and it suggests good things for Michigan's planned invasion of Ohio in 2024. After laying the groundwork in 2023 with a number of lower-rated kids, Michigan now has Marshall, 4* IOL Luke Hamilton (Avon, OH), and 3* DL Ted Hammond (Cincinnati) on board. The next targets up appear to be 3* OT Ben Roebuck (Lakewood), 4* EDGE Brian Robinson (Austintown), the 4* OT Armstrong brothers (Elyria), and the crown jewels of Ohio, borderline 5* CBs Bryce West (Cleveland) and Aaron Scott (Springfield). How many of those are gettable, it is not entirely clear, but having Hamilton, an active recruiter of his peers, in the class was a good starting piece and now landing Marshall is a massive development on that quest.

Michigan is still looking for a second back in this class and is in a decent spot for a number of prospects, the most notable of which being top 100 4* Taylor Tatum from Texas. But Marshall being in the class ensures the floor for Michigan's RB recruiting in 2024 begins very high.

A hello post will be on its way in the coming days. There is no content after the jump.

It sure took a minute, but it looks like back-2-back Ohio State wins & B1G titles & CFP appearances are starting to bear fruit on the recruiting trail.

Let's fucking go baby!

Beat Ohio-yes! Mike Harts wins this recruiting battle. There is very good high school competition  in SW Ohio so Marshall is legit. Mike Hart will take him to the next level.

This is the happiest I’ve been seeing a commitment in a long time. This is a big time get. Also appears to be a Corum clone so assume part of the successful pitch was “Look what we did with him, come get you some.”

I know a decent amount has been made of Hart's recruiting and the Hall addition does seem weird.  But it's overlooked that he did land our second highest '23 recruit, Cabana.  It may get overlooked bc he played right near AA, but it's been reported that Cabana grew up a huge MSU fan and Hart was the primary recruiter on that one.

I'm happy that Hall is coming to UM and the Cabana pickup last year was definitely a good sign (though I do think MSU being largely shit for a half-decade while UM has been ascendent helped on that front).  UM beating OSU twice also helped, especially to a running back who's basically watched a parade of UM backs run through the Buckeyes now.

Hart should be a crack recruiter - he was a college legend and seems like a decent guy and a good coach.  But I was critical of Hart as a recruiter because he wasn't pulling in the types of players his predecessor, Jaybaugh, pulled in at UM and on a staff that had a couple of lesser recruiters in Hellow and Weiss you needed other guys to step up.  And when you looked at his recruiting at IU he was usually the 4th/5th rated guy on the IU staff, so there was some concern that perhaps he didn't quite have the juice to close some of these tight recruitments.  Hopefully this is a sign that Hart is taking that next step up.

Fuck Michigan. That said, I can see a RB being lured there due to Harbaugh being hilariously incapable of developing a QB or implementing any type of passing game whatsoever

This comment is great. JJ McCarthy is a famously undeveloped QB and bad passer apparently. This commenter’s memory apparently is also very short given what our passing offense just did to them. Ope, and Cornelius Johnson just scored another TD
