Yeah it makes him jittery.
He prefers five hour energy.
January 5th, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^
if brandon comes back with hoke, he should be the next out the door.
January 5th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
Hoke wouldn't put together an all-star U-M Alum coaching staff? Loeffler is available for OC/QB coach, Heater is available for DB coach, Trgovich would probably come back to be DC. Retain Fred Jackson as RB coach.
It could be a vision of his. Bring back all of these former players/coaches that have gone on to other colleges in different divisions with there new coaching philosophies. It's definately a possibility.
January 5th, 2011 at 4:57 PM ^
I think that has already been tried when the Tigers thought it would be a good idea to put Trammel as manager, Parrish at third, Gibby as a bench coach, etc.
I like the idea of a "Michigan Man" but strictly from the perspective that they "get" the program and understand it and respect it.
Any outsider can quickly get to this point with some effort.
January 5th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
like rodriguez did, in three years? he still doesnt get it.
rodriguez broke double digit negative records for the program, and guys like you feel sorry for him.
January 5th, 2011 at 5:18 PM ^
Thanks for that absolutely brilliant insight.
January 5th, 2011 at 5:25 PM ^
no need to beat a dead horse, RichRod has already had a crappy day.

Why is an angry man with a chicken wing being bucked off a four-legged Kirk Cousins?
January 5th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
You're lucky negs are still off-line.
January 5th, 2011 at 5:28 PM ^
Just because he ended up not succeeding doesn't mean he didn't understand the program - yeah, he made some mistakes with traditions, but quite frankly, sometimes traditions need changing.
The feeling sorry for him (and yes, I do) is because of people that never gave him their support from day 1 and would never have supported him, even if he had won, just because he didn't play for or coach under Bo.
January 5th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
Perhaps Hoke has a kingsnake in his sock drawer that calls plays for him. Anything is possible at this point, though I suppose yours may be more optimistic.
January 5th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
has some oil to go along with it. As it will be needed from hire until signing day
January 5th, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
Bands do this all the time... usually to horrible effect. I am *not* endorsing Hoke. But if it did end up being him, I'd prefer he bring a fully intact staff that he's comfortable with along.

I just want this week to be over. I have the week off and all i've done for the past two days is refreshing mgoblog/espn/twitter hoping for updates. I am trying to gradually ween myself off by limiting to checking them once every hour, then once every two hours, etc. I feel so empty inside.
January 5th, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
I finally had to snap myself out of it when I received emails from the boss and her boss and his boss about the shit I was going to send them Monday that normally takes me 3 minutes to finish. Back at it now, hehehehehe!
January 5th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
Or it won't. But take a break anyway
The Denard stay/transfer saga is going to take a lot of your strength

Fuck off - show me a post where I supported GERG being fired - No, I don't have to come in here, but I want my name removed.

it's a login, my friend. You want to disappear, it is in your power to do so.
As far as I'm concerned, you're not worth the -1, ha
January 5th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
unless your real name is "502 Bad Gateway" i don't think you're going to have a problem. also, people aren't celebrating that other people were canned. look, when you get into a business like college coaching you do so with the understanding that it is cut throat and that if you don't produce you might be fired. and in exchange you get paid quite lucratively. these aren't people who need unemployment insurance to keep themselves afloat. no one's hope for a new coach is mean spirited.
January 5th, 2011 at 4:55 PM ^
Sorry we don't feel bad for a guy who made 10 million for doing an indisputably poor job.
January 5th, 2011 at 6:43 PM ^
I really can. It's just that I, as well as a lot of other UM fans, feel bad for those close to RR who were collateral damage as a result of his firing which was, admittedly, because of an extremely poor performance on the field.
I think it grinds people the wrong way because many feel he wasn't given a chance or time from the start to do what he needed to do with the team in order to be successful. Also, I personally hate how RR and his family were left swinging in the breeze the last 48 hours while Fox2/ESPN/Freep/DetNews/Nancy Grace/Ryan Ermanni/Everyone on the Tweeters and FaceSpaces were reporting he was gone when they possibly hadn't heard a damn word otherwise. That's torture to his wife and kids and the families of the assistants as well whose jobs hung with Rodriguez's. It was shameful, and that's what really pisses me off!
/soapbox because I haven't been able to post in forever
January 6th, 2011 at 8:52 AM ^
I dispute this.
He had the offense headed in the direction he wanted it to go but the 2010 starting defense was a mash unit. We had a semblence of a defense in the first couple of games and we beat two teams that ended up being bowl eligible. Then injuries. Then Doom.

But I sure as hell picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue. I trust Brandon and believe he had a plan in place for all contingencies. He doesn't seem like the kind of person that flies blind into situations.
January 5th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
I am sick and tired of all the commentators saying RR lost to App State. Can they at least get that right. As for DB, hopefully as he said, he was prepared to for not getting JH.
January 5th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
Ugh! Today I couldn't help myself and I read some of the comments on ESPN, and a lot of these jackwads believe that DB was the one that hired RR back in 2007/2008. I guess I can assume that they are the same people who listen to the mindless dribble you heard on ESPN. Get a brain, MORANS!
January 5th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
Not a lot of new info here, but worth a look anyway...
January 5th, 2011 at 5:02 PM ^
thanks for the link.
DB was pretty frank. he called the defense "bad" said, said we "weren't competitive".
he did a poor job of explaining his timeline again though.
he also said that he'd be visiting people, so flighttracker away!

Knock off the media events and get to work hiring a coach.
January 5th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
I'm with Lou Holtz on this one, M fans getting what they deserve (glory days are over) because of impatience, entitled attitude, refusal to really support this young team. Like a young bride who leaves after 3yrs for a BBD (bigger better deal). It never works out and M is now screwed for a long time. Maybe the next coach will buy me flowers and pick up his underwear....haha hahah hahah. BTW this is me, Nevada Wolfpack fan now (I play rugby there) eating David Brandons head...
January 5th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
And there was a guarantee that next year our defense was going to magically get better, Denard and the offense would stop the fumbles and droppsies that have plagued us all three years, and the special teams would get better? No one knew that Rodriguez was going to turn this around next year or ever. To presume otherwise smacks of unrealistic optimism.
And really, you're a Nevada fan now? Adios. Don't try to hope back on board later subway.
January 6th, 2011 at 9:14 AM ^
But there was a reason to believe that it would get better considering that it would be RR's first year with a two deep full of experience and depth on both sides of the ball.
I'm curious. What's your guarantee with whatever coach we end up with?
And, please........ don' t say someone who will bring us back to what we had before RR. I was not exactly satisfied with 4 loss seasons despite having some of the best talent in the conference.
