being realistic right now i would be happy with these results to say the least. Michigan vs. Missouri would be a fun game to watch too
November 10th, 2010 at 6:34 PM ^
Missouri is too strong
November 10th, 2010 at 8:04 PM ^
Agreed.
November 10th, 2010 at 11:12 PM ^
Illinois 23-13, Michigan would be in the game all the way with Missouri. The Tigers might end up with 3 losses to Nebraska, Texas Tech.....and either Iowa State or Kansas State can beat them.
November 11th, 2010 at 9:03 AM ^
Missouri's passing would seem to be too much for us to handle. But, Tim Tebow and Florida seemed like they would be too much for us a couple of years ago and that worked out all right.
November 11th, 2010 at 10:03 AM ^
And don't forget that they actually have a few weeks to practice for the bowl game. This could be a very good thing for the defense. Who knows, maybe they could improve in that time.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:20 PM ^
MSU v. Bama would be worse than Iowa was. I would be laughing so hard while watching that game.
November 10th, 2010 at 10:33 PM ^
My family and I took shots for MSU's game last year every time Texas Tech scored a TD... and were feeling pretty good after.
If they played Bama...
November 10th, 2010 at 6:24 PM ^
I will be rooting for the NCAA investigators.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:24 PM ^
Arizona would be nice send off for our seniors!
November 10th, 2010 at 6:24 PM ^
I don't like the idea of our secondary against Blaine Gabbert unless 15 extra bowl practices = magic.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
they may be able to grow dreads in that time.
November 10th, 2010 at 7:11 PM ^
Sold by a new DC
November 10th, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
like an elite team, but it's not. Sadly for the conference's bowl reputation but happily for anyone who loves freedom and happiness, that record will get it placed into a bowl against a real elite team, almost certainly resulting in carnage that would make Wes Craven jealous.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:43 PM ^
Could actually help the conferences bowl reputation. All the teams picked after MSU can get more favorable match ups, and MSU gets creamed by Saban. Win-Win!!!
November 10th, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
Eh... I guess. As much as I dislike seeing our rivals win bowl games, I'd rather Big Ten teams win than not. Either way MSU had a great season. Besides, seeing Saban win anything is not something I enjoy. But, I do agree that state is not as good as their record indicates at the moment.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:28 PM ^
Also, Missouri has a huge game next weekend against Kansas State (6-3).
November 10th, 2010 at 6:30 PM ^
I wouldnt mind seeing MSU win a bowl game. They have had a good year, but I cant however say the same for OSU. Pretty much the only Big Ten team I never root for. 2009 when they played Texas I was watching on a small TV in a hospital and screamed with Texas scored to win. Nurses ran in to see if I was ok. Oh I was def ok.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:30 PM ^
I feel we'll end up in the Houston bowl. The only way we can expect to be in the insight bowl is if PSU losing their next 3 games or we win all 3 games, which might move us into the gator bowl. As long as we don't play in Motor City Bowl, I'll be happy.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:33 PM ^
I hope we play Texas Tech. Watching my current graduate school vs. my alma mater live would be a great way to ring in the new year.
November 10th, 2010 at 10:28 PM ^
sounds like a sure-fire bet to be the first bowl game to break 200 total points scored in regulation
November 10th, 2010 at 6:38 PM ^
November 10th, 2010 at 6:41 PM ^
Without researching it I can't get too giddy. But I have seen them three times on TV and I think we would win in a shoot out (now there's a prediction, eh?)
MSU vs Alabama... convict vs convict... wow. hmmm... sorry, can't dislike MSU the way I dislike Alabama.
MSU in an ugly,
boring,
high turn over,
tons of penalties,
rainy night
with un-seasonally cold temperatures.
3-2.

The Rose Bowl matchup doesn't make sense. According to their own notes at the top:
"Under terms of the most recent BCS agreement, the first time the Rose Bowl loses a team to the national championship game and a team from outside the Big Six conferences is an automatic qualifier, that team will play in the Rose Bowl."
So assuming Boise State is an automatic qualifier, wouldn't they be in the Rose against the Big Ten champion (in this scenario, Wisconsin)? I assume it wouldn't matter that there would be TWO non-BCS automatic qualifiers - one would still have to be selected for the Rose. Could that mean Stanford would go to the Sugar? That'd be weird.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:47 PM ^
Unless Boise St. or TCU went to the National Championship game, then they could choose a Big Six conference team.
November 10th, 2010 at 11:28 PM ^
Just not as detailed as possible. If Adam http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/19424/note-on-rose-bowl-selection-process is correct, then it is not necessary to take them this year just in the next four.. if I understand correctly.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:45 PM ^
is a less than two hour flight from San Francisco. I'll take it.
Not sure Sparty will drop one to PSU, in which case they'll go to Pasadena, in which case I am going to be ill.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:47 PM ^
I will use this post to rail against the unfairness of TCU projecting to the title game over Boise St. Those two teams should play in if they finish 2-3.

November 10th, 2010 at 8:12 PM ^
Utah was overrated. Through 8 games they had a -1 turnover margin. They did not play anyone good. Hawaii is about as good as Utah is and Boise beat them 42-7. Boise also beat Virginia Tech who has rebounded nicely and continues to win.
Boise States schedule is on par with TCU's, if not better.
I personally would love to see both of them in the BCS Championship game. That would screw with the BCS something fierce!
November 10th, 2010 at 10:47 PM ^
I like Hawaii. And SMU for that matter. I always root for the unorthodox (read: run and shoot) teams.
November 10th, 2010 at 6:55 PM ^
Could use some strengthening on the Lewan/Roh pipeline in that area
November 10th, 2010 at 7:44 PM ^
I know a certain mgoblog recruiting analyst who will be mighty happy.
November 10th, 2010 at 7:46 PM ^
Going to be awesome to be back in a bowl - effectively adds more than a month to the joy of this comeback season...and the practices help. Just keep winning and move up the list.
November 10th, 2010 at 8:07 PM ^
I want to see us play A&M in the Texas Bowl.
November 10th, 2010 at 10:52 PM ^
Isn't "us" A&M for you now?
November 10th, 2010 at 8:25 PM ^
For TV viewing purposes the Insight Bowl would SUCK. The game starts at 10 PM EST and I am way too old to stay up until after 1 AM to watch a CFB game. I'd almost rather see UM in a lower bowl with a better time slot.
November 10th, 2010 at 8:44 PM ^
Well the simple solution is go to the game! I can't wait, and really hope there is an MGoTailgate.
November 11th, 2010 at 9:02 AM ^
So what., it's a holiday week - imagine the fun waiting all day for the game. Late night football party - enjoy it.
November 10th, 2010 at 9:37 PM ^
on ESPN the other day that bowls can pick who they want (within conference tie in bowls) as long as they have no more than 2 less wins as the teams above them and no more than 2 more losses than the teams above them. That being said, Michigan will get the best bowl possible even if it means a possibly more deserving team gets snubbed. Who wouldnt want Michigans offense and Denard in their bowl game?
November 10th, 2010 at 9:50 PM ^
Team get to play in a Jan. 1st bowl? While one of the 4/5 has to play on Dec. 28? This doesn't make sense.
November 10th, 2010 at 10:07 PM ^
i'd really like to see us matched up with either Texas (I think they get #6 against Texas A&M) or Georgia. Either is pretty possible depending on how the last few games go.
November 10th, 2010 at 11:14 PM ^
MSU against Alabama in the Capital One Bowl would be awesome. It would perhaps be the lulziest bowl ever.
Michigan v. Missouri would def be a high scoring matchup.
November 10th, 2010 at 11:15 PM ^
two years, I don't care who we play
November 10th, 2010 at 11:26 PM ^
I would LOVE to play Missouri. I live in Kansas City, MO now and I'm surrounded by Missouri fans. Have to hear crap like we only let Illinois score 13 points. Of course that was early on Saturday before Missouri lost to Texas Tech. Losing to Tech caused hysteria.
November 11th, 2010 at 9:23 AM ^
Program wins before we even play in the bowl game....15 extra practices....opportunity for recruits to check us out....confidence and momentum for next year.
Missouri would be a good game, first one to 70 wins!
MSU / Bama might be a better game than some think. Bama didn't look great against LSU and South Carolina took care of business. MSU probably a blend of the two. Just wish there was a way for them to tie.
