Joel Klatt is a better version of Kirk Herbstreet.

Didn't see this in the play by play above, but did anyone else notice that on Wisconsin's scoring drive (1st Q) they had 7 offensive linemen?!  It was 2-3 plays but I saw that and thought, "oh shit!  I hope they don't keep doing this."  Thanks Mr. Paul!

I actually had to correct my Literature teacher freshman year in high school on the meaning of "wherefore."  She was pretty ditzy.  :0)

10/15/2018 - 12:27pm Triathlon?   Where?  :0)

Triathlon?   Where?  :0)

That was an all-around fun game to attend.  Wished for, but did not foresee, a beating like we saw on Saturday night.  Loved it.

Agree.  I hate crossover sport celebrations.  And I hate PSU.

I also thought that the original ticket would be useless... but now I'm not so sure.  My tickets for NU were StubHub and the sellers came to their seats during the game.  Not sure how they got in, but they acted as if WE were improperly sitting in their seats.  Then we said "we bought them yesterday" and they said "oh you bought our tickets... thanks" and walked off.  So they sold their tickets and still got in to the game.

10/01/2018 - 10:18am Agree with you!  It was not…

Agree with you!  It was not a fluky game at all.  Being in the stadium, Michigan fans never really seemed to think it would be a loss.  They had control of the game starting in the second quarter but it was a slog to finally take the lead.  To me, that was better for the team's morale than a blowout would have been.  Got punched in the mouth a few times, but came back and kept pushing, despite all the penalties!!  There were a lot of times in the game where Michigan teams past would have folded.

I'll be making my first trip (from SE Michigan) to Evanston and meeting up with my brother and sister (from Wisconsin).  Looking forward to seeing a bunch of Michigan fans and hoping/confident we'll have more than 1/2 of the fans in the stadium.  More than anything just want to see a solid outing from Michigan in all 3 phases of the game (duh).

06/21/2015 - 3:19pm friend designed it

An old friend of mine designed the course. Pretty cool!

01/22/2015 - 1:35pm My goal

It is my goal to bike across the lower 48 within the next 10 years.  I won't mind taking the time off to do it.  Potential employers (and current for me) would see that as a positive that a very small proportion of society ever contemplates.  It speaks to your character.  I think it's common to take 1 month minimum which is still nearly 100 miles per day.  Even more optimistic would be to race in the Race Across America - goes from San Diego to Atlantic City, NJ and you only get 12 days 2 hrs.  Winners typically do it in 8 days.  It's crazy.

10/03/2014 - 3:38pm count me in

I've wanted Miles here for a while. I'd love to see it.

04/09/2014 - 3:03pm Thanks

I'm glad to get that right finally.  It must have been a rumor back in the day that I still remember as being "correct."

04/09/2014 - 11:36am #2

I'm pretty sure this was the 2nd Ultimate Warrior... the first one died shortly after taking over the spotlight way back when.  True, yes?  Weird!

01/09/2014 - 2:15pm Indeed

Very well put!  And let's not forget that an OC worth his salt can adapt his offense to the players he's got.  Michigan has a terrific athlete in Devin Gardner.  I hope Nuss can take advantage of Devin's talents.

12/09/2013 - 1:28pm I don't feel great about it

I'd rather they play a better opponent becuase Michigan seems to play up or down to the competition.  It'll be a close game.  Michigan plays terribly out west.  Michigan probably loses in annoying fashion.  I wish I had reasons to make me feel otherwise.  Still, you can bet your ass I'll be watching and cheering on my team and HOPING for something good.

11/21/2013 - 11:28am Poop, I thought I had that

Poop, I thought I had that right.  Thanks for correcting.  I'll have to check out that book as well... sounds great.

09/24/2013 - 1:53pm new times

I work next door (museums annex... also to be torn down) and will also have to relocate. The reason both buildings are going is they are building another biology/science building. Ruthven will be renovated into new "pay to play" labs. This area will look quite different.

06/28/2013 - 1:23pm Cadel seems to be riding very

Cadel seems to be riding very well this year... I think he'll be in stronger contention than he was last year.  Cadel is the team leader so they'll ride for him.  It could get interesting later in the race though.  I have a feeling that if last year were to repeat itself, Cadel would have his team support TVG and go for the podium.

06/28/2013 - 1:20pm Definitely expecting an

Definitely expecting an awesome Tour this year.  Lots of big guns are back (though Wiggins is out again) and the course is fricking amazing.  A mountain-top finish on the penultimate stage (versus the usual TT) will be very cool, especially if the GC is a close call.  I'm very excited for le Tour to begin in case it wasn't apparent!

06/24/2013 - 2:50pm Wow, that kid is fast.  I

Wow, that kid is fast.  I would absolutely love it if the kid chose Michigan... but I'm with Ace and don't think we'll see him leave Louisiana for Ann Arbor.  Let's hope I'm wrong!

06/12/2013 - 12:49pm Awesome timing!

I just watched "An Unexpected Journey" last night!

01/02/2013 - 2:38pm 12-0

I honestly can see them winning all of those games next year... as long as they play sound, disciplined football.

11/05/2012 - 8:36am Cap one perhaps

But man it's going to be against one of Georgia, Florida, S. or LSU.  Shit, I hope Michigan has ALL of their players back and fully healthy for that one!

10/22/2012 - 1:49pm It does seem odd

Or amazing, however you want to look at it.  I thought he was severly concussed after that hit.  He couldn't even stand on his own.  I really hope, for his sake, that there's no Tomfoolery going on with the coaching staff and doctors so they will clear him to play.  In all honesty though, it's great he's been cleared as that would indicate that there's nothing wrong.  I hate to see those players get hurt, no matter who they play for.

10/22/2012 - 1:42pm This one...

is the biggest mystery to me.  I thought for sure they'd get dropped out of the rankings this week.  Both Texas and WVU got their asses handed to them in both losses.  The Big Ten rep is the reason for Michigan being ranked where they are... but I do NOT think those two teams should be ranked ahead of UM.  Just annoying.

10/22/2012 - 1:38pm Yes, win indeed

These players seem to have a great focus each week.  No let down against Purdue or Illinois even after each game became a sure victory.  I see this game playing out a lot like last year's game at Illinois.  You never really felt like Illinois would win because the defense kept shutting them down.  Eventually, Michigan's offense will put up a bunch of points and put the game out of reach.  Lincoln at night... I don't see that as being enough for Nebraska to beat Michigan this year.

09/21/2012 - 12:25pm Michigan wins

Michigan 28

Notre Dame 20

09/04/2012 - 2:55pm I agree

Even before this game I thought 9-3 would be about right.  They do have depth back there and I think they'll turn into a good unit once again.  We just have to hope they don't lose any more starters.  And I'm not convinced that ND or Neb are losses by any stretch.

08/29/2012 - 10:29am justin.tv

I used this site to watch The Game last year and it worked out well.  I recommend it... it's also free.

08/28/2012 - 3:40pm Actually, I agree with you

I will get behind Hoke's decision either way on this one.  But it bothers me how everyone is so quick to be judge, jury, and executioner.  I really don't think it will be a huge difference if Fitz is not playing.  I think Rawls will stand in quite well.

08/28/2012 - 3:31pm Someone else made a good point

What if this had happened back in January?  Would you still sit him or would he have served his penalty during those months?  And how long does it take to work off that mistake?  Will he be benched because this was a recent mistake?  Sitting a game is not the only penalty, that's my point.

Also, I appreciate the snark and sarcasm.  For the record, I do have an advanced degree from U of M... I have a LOT of pride in that accomplishment and I do feel that we as UM students and grads have a higher standard to uphold.  I just don't necessarily agree with you all about sitting Fitz.  Whatever Coach Hoke decides is the right choice in my opinion.

As for MilkSteak, a shower will make you clean again after the victory in Dallas. :0)

08/28/2012 - 2:55pm Wow good point

Someone that has thought this out a bit more than just saying, "We are Michigan and we are morally superior to everyone else."  Thanks for that.  I was beginning to think I was the only one.

08/28/2012 - 2:53pm God forbid anyone on this board...

ever gets a DUI!  I'm sure it's happened many times.  Glass houses my friends.  If Fitz plays, who of you will be pissed off after Michigan wins?!  No one.  An above poster was correct, we are not the SEC.  But we are playing the SEC.  Something to keep in mind.  I don't see a problem with Fitz playing.  He's paid a price than none of us know anything about so all the judge Judy's out there should shut up.  If he sits, he sits.  If he plays you'll get over it.

08/28/2012 - 2:47pm Boo to you sir

Newcastle doesn't hold a candle to nearly every other brown ale I can think of.  And it's British.  Are you too good for Amurrican burr?

p.s. High Life Lite is the answer if the question is, "What beer can I drink literally all day long and not get sloppy drunk?"

08/28/2012 - 2:44pm You shut your whore mouth

:0) It's much better than Budweiser.  No rice or fillers and it's made in Ann Arbor.  And their drinking den is cool too.

08/28/2012 - 10:39am The more important point that you make...

We are better fans.  Better how?  Just better.  And after Michigan wins, Alabama fans will be happily invited to UM tailgates.  Cheers, bitches.

08/28/2012 - 10:30am 369

Number of times Herby will sound like a total OSU homer douche. :0)

08/28/2012 - 10:27am I was thinking the opposite

It helps the Program if the team wins... winning a nationally-televised game against the defending national champs leads to more and better exposure to blue chip recruits across the country.  So I'm not sure that he did tip his hat.

That said, I hope they both play.  They are obviously getting punished in other ways AND they can still sit out another game.  We're playing the SEC and if anyone thinks they'd sit their players then you're crazy.  Let's not pretend that we're all sitting on higher moral ground... we want Michigan to win this game, bottom line... and it's not like we'd be cheating to get the win.  Who cares if Hoke gets compared to Tressell and/or Dantonio?  That might be an issue for a week, maybe two.  At the end of the season when Michigan is in the Rose Bowl, who's gonna bring that up?  No one, because they're all happy that Michigan had another terrific season.  I know most of you don't agree with my thoughts (not publicly anyway) and I don't care.  I know you want the W against bama just as much as me so let's drop the holier than thou attitude (but keep the arrogance).

08/27/2012 - 2:03pm My thoughts are the best

I think Michigan will go 3-1 in the first 4 games... a CLOSE game with Alabama.  Two weeks later they will beat ND for the 4th time in a row but not in the final seconds this time (10 pt margin).  The domers won a thriller against Purdue the week prior.

The probability of State beating ND is predicated upon Michigan beating ND.  Since the domers will be devastated once again, they will be weary heading into State.  MSU will likely go 4-0 in the first 4 and their heads will get even larger... ready to pop.

Wisconsin will lose all 4 games by a combined 241 points because Karma decided it was just time.  :0)

Nebraska will win all 4 games... UCLA on the road is not what it used to be.

Ohio will win all 4 games and have people talking about how great a coach Urban is and how they will win the national title 4 times within his first 6 years.  Then they will lose to Purdue... again.

Penn State will lose 1 game and will come close to losing 3 more.

Northwestern will surprise people by losing to Syracuse because... it's Syracuse.

Indiana will win 2 of their games but nobody will notice/care.

Minnesota will win out and have people talking about their participation in the Big Ten title game.  Then they start the Big Ten schedule...

Purdue will lose at Notre Dame CLOSE because they catch the domers looking ahead.  Pee U wins the rest.

Illinois will lose to Arizona State.  They will also lose to 5 more teams during the season.

08/15/2012 - 2:44pm Depends on how you look at it

If their defense is good, it's obnoxious to me!

08/14/2012 - 10:51am I agree

I will be very happy when Michigan beats bama in a couple weeks.  But I won't be as happy as I was (relieved!) when Michigan beat Ohio last November.  It will be great but I will be too concerned with the rest of the schedule... and too concerned that a big win will make the players' heads too big (though I think the coaching staff is good about not letting that happen).

As for MSU, I will be annoyed when Michigan beats them this year... annoyed because it should have happened twice in the past 4 years instead of zero.  It'll be like rimming out a bunch of free throws and finally swishing one.  It doesn't make you very happy because damn, it's a free throw. :0)

08/01/2012 - 11:12am Me triathlete too

Never excelled at any one sport but I can put together a decent swim, bike, run.  I've raced as elite amateur for the Olympic distance, made USAT All American twice, and qualified for age-group nationals.  I qualified for the 1/2 Ironman (70.3) World Championships at my last 1/2 IM.  Missed qualifying for Ironman World Championships (Kona) by 1 spot last year at IM Canada... still working on that one.

08/01/2012 - 11:03am I have a question

When will "then" be "now?"

07/27/2012 - 1:41pm Dislike

DISLIKE.  Their uniform would look better if it was maize and blue and they had winged helmets.  To be more clear, I would like Nebraska better if they were Michigan.

07/27/2012 - 1:39pm me = happy

Devin has the potential to be a game changing WR... and he'll win the Belitnikof award.  After this year we'll all wish he had played WR last year as well.  And then next year he'll go back to QB and win the Heisman... Michigan's second consecutive year with a Heisman winning QB.  He'll be the first ever player EVER to accomplish these feats.  And we will rejoice.

07/27/2012 - 1:33pm Go all out

Dress in maize and blue from head to toe... head out to the bar... be loud and vociferous the whole game.  Make people buy you drinks after Michigan wins!

07/27/2012 - 1:28pm Oh really?!

What about Jesus?  /s

07/27/2012 - 8:55am I agree dude

I love it when fans have blind optimism about their team going into a big game.  Many of the people here are afraid to show their optimism because they might be "wrong."  And if there's one thing I see on this board, it's that everyone wants to be "right" and will argue to the end of the earth to "prove" why they are "right."  Just man up and tell everyone you know (especially Alabama fans) that Michigan will beat the shit out of Alabama on September 1.  Place wagers on it.  Michigan is your team, right?  Show some pride.  Show how die hard of a fan you are.  Show how much you love your team.  Show us that blind optimism.  Fuck the thought of losing.  Michigan is going to WIN.

07/20/2012 - 2:04pm Can't wait to see it

Now the only thing left to wonder is what his pose will be.
