Indy Pete - Go Blue

His letter on the Players Tribune was fantastic. You could almost hear him talking as you read it, because it encapsulated his energy and personality. I feel much more satisfied about his decision hearing him articulate his thought process. Talk about a person who absolutely maximized his college experience in three years. I think he is making the right choice for him. I wish him great success in the NBA. He will be up there with the Michigan greats in my mind, and I’m grateful for all the many memories that he has given us. Best wishes to the one and only Victor Moritz Wagner!

I am glad that his decision to stay another year was a win for him...and many exciting wins for the basketball team. Hope Philly has a chance to add another smooth shooting European to their already potent offence.

Thanks Mo

Would love to see the Warriors draft him in the late 20s he woulod be a perfect fit at Center for the Warriors, they have some very good defenders (so he wouldnt be needed as a defensive player) and he would get 3-4  three point attemots per game

My guess is Matthews comes back seeing an opportunity to be a star next to Poole next season and play himself into a sure 1st round pick. Lotta offense to replace next year.

Best of luck, Mo. And thanks.

That young man just exudes personality – even on the written page. I hope the business side of pro sports doesn’t change him too much. And when his professional career ends he has the makings of one helluva writer.

Even Coach Beilein made a point of saying what a special person he is, and how much he enjoys having him around.

Best of luck Moe - you will certainly be missed.

We got all we could’ve asked for out of Mo this year! He came back and took us on a magical Final 4 run most us will not soon forget. Plus, now he can afford to replace Raftery’s glasses that he broke.

I do wish him the best, and can not fault him in leaving to the nba....     But, will he even go first round?    And I can't see him getting much playing time in his first year or maybe even two?    I do feel he will develop into a starting NBA player, but just seems like the upside of staying was greater.   Of course injury is a factor, but would take a rare and major injury to be a factor.   He could have played and matured (mental and physically) in a national spotlight and likely inproved his draft stock and thus gained a few million had he came back for another year.

Like I said, I feel he will develop into a decent NBA player, but in a couple years.    Sitting the bench most of the time in the NBA seems like it would really be frustrating if you have the passion for the game that he shows.    I guess that could have been the case even if he stayed another year, but if he was able to improve his draft status to top 15 or so next year, then it also would have gotten him more NBA mins as well.

Well, its sad to see him go but wish him the best and I am looking forward to watching him which ever team he ends up on.

He’s been in the national spotlight for some time now; that’s not an issue. And he’s not a crazy athlete with untapped ability, or a supporting-cast guy who needs to show he can get his.

Staying in school can’t just be about hiding out from the draft. There has to be something to gain—otherwise you’re just delaying what’s going to happen anyway.

Incredibly eloquent letter in his second language.  Wish him the best with everything. Feel like we saw him grow up some before our very eyes, but there is also no doubt he came to Ann Arbor with a lot of tools and a great head on his shoulders.  Will always appreciate his love for Michigan.

The last couple of paragraphs and tying the crazy dreams back to sharing a court with Dirk, must have gotten kind of dusty in here, my eyes are killing me. Weird.
