META: Come back, Brian

Submitted by Larry Appleton on
We’ve had a new OC since the beginning of the day, and not a peep of it on the front page. Come back from the ledge, Brian! We all know you’re down, but fercrissakes this is big news that this site should be covering!

My guess on the wait: See what is said when official & write about it, rather than just rehash the whole "role-to-be-named" thing.

Hope we get some clarity tomorrow so we don't have to wait through the whole long weekend.

Joseph P Freshwater is probably busy rationalizing not paying players for their talents by equating it to his own dumb experiences.

Really?  We need a discussion about the owner of this site possibly not posting a slap-dash article about the hiring of a 10th assistant coach?

I'm sure this will be discussed soon.  i am also sure the lines will be drawn between "he was fine as an OC/assistant elsewhere" and "look at Florida's offense/hump shark".  I think that can wait a day.

But does this staff have the recruiting tools to pull in the top recruits (for all the stargazers) for the years to come? Is this a staff that could stay together for more than a year? Btw i think this hire is great mainly to get drev from his weak ass play calling role and i like Macs enthusiasm as a coach something i miss from harbaugh.

i mean really, hammerheads, blues, white tip reef sharks, what's the big deal?  you chum the waters, you get your bites.  sometimes you are catching other fish and the damn sharks take what you've caught.  you owe it to the shark to catch him and set things straight.

it's part of JH's mantra that everything is a competition.

Each of 3 coaches calls a play each down that is transmitted to JH's tablet. He quickly scans them and picks the best one, which is then signaled into the QB.

The points are tallied all game to see who "wins" the playcalling derby.

Winner gets huge "OC" neck chain for a week.

Second place is a set of steak knives.

Third place is you're fired.

shark and men become friends. He will be our WR coach, which we really need and when Jed left we did not have a good passing component to our offense. So McElwain checks both boxes.

Well then why in God's name isn't he even listed on the official UM website? And why was Enos still listed as a staff member for several days after it was confirmed he'd bolted to Alabama?

Yes, I'm exaggerating the importance of web info on purpose, but I think it's pretty weird that an athletic department that constantly beats its chest about being the best at everything can't even manage the basics of communications competently.

What makes it particularly odd is that editing information on a website is one of the easiest things you can do—that's the primary advantage of digital media, fer chrissakes—but the football staff is approaching it with the enthusiasm typical of stoned slackers who are more concerned about making a Taco Bell run.

Unless... it's not a certainty that Warriner is going to stick.
