Michigan out for Jarrett Patterson???

Anyone hearing this? Apparently it’s down to Notre Dame and UCLA according to other boards. If this is true, not good. I was hoping we’d get him in this class. Edit: Just realized that Notre Dame leapfrogged us with a new OL coach.

Bredeson was 2nd team all-conference as a true sophomore. Onwenu played all year as same (we hadn’t even seen a future NFL guy like Schofield at that point in his career) and Ruiz started down the stretch as a true freshman. Jake Long fucking redshirted and didn’t start right away in year 2. And we’ll have at least 6 freshman OL on next year’s roster with lots of stars next to their name. Pretty good haul and production out of a group whose 3rd recruiting class hasn’t arrived on campus yet. I forgot how many dumbshits love UM football.

You're supposed to bitch about Drevo and Pep and the Oline and being only #15 in recruiting and bitch about the fact that Harbaugh only has 28 wins in his three years here which is not nearly enough compared to 25 for Dantonio or 24 for Brian Kelly.

Pep Sucks!!  Drevo SUCKS!!  Harbaugh REALLY SUCKS!!

Newsome is coming off of an injury where he almost lost the lower half of his leg and hasn't played football in 2 years.  I am pulling hard for him, but expecting him to walk in next year and be a good starting B1G LT is a stretch.  Once again,  I am pulling hard for him, but I think our expectations might be too high.

JBB was not very good this year and there are rumors that he may be in the dog house so who knows if he returns.

The 4 RS Freshman haven't played a single snap of college football.  Leaning on 4 guys who haven't played a single snap is a receipe for disaster.

The simple fact is that Michigan hasn't been able to put games away where all they needed was a few more yards push by an oline.  OSU last year, FSU last year, OSU this year, Iowa last year, MSU the first Harbaugh year, etc.

There needs to be major improvement.  I for sure thought that by year three the Oline would be fixed and looking like Stanford but its not.  You have 11 NFL draft picks and lose three games?  Notice where none of the picks came from?  Not a good look.

Drevno is a terrible recruiter.  Patterson was quoted saying he LOVES Drevno yet Drevno couldn't close.  He got friendzoned.  The OLine couldn't block a basic stunt all year.  The run blocking was decent against the bottom feeders of the B1G, but against good defenses the holes just weren't there.

Bottom line is the guy makes $1m a year to be below average in every phase of his job.

The handful of whiners that frequent any recruit posts won’t acknowledge FACTS, but it’s not all gloom and doom. With good QB play, the o-line looks much better. It really is a team game. Could have easily been 12-1 with the line we had.

Sam Webb was going out of his way to mention Tim Drevno for his recruiting relationship with Patterson. Seemed like a reach to try to give Drevno some “credit” as a recruiter. This just proves he sucks at recruiting and we know he can’t coach either. I said it before, fire Drevno, hire Warriner as OL coach and bring in a young creative play caller to be OC. Pep can jimmy jack around with the “passing game” until we ship him back to the NFL. In the meantime we have to get better at OL and play calling. Please get better!

Wisconsin also puts a lot of pressure on their kids not to visit anywhere or attend a lot of camps to keep them lower rated. It's a good strategy. MUCH easier to recruit against Minnesota and Iowa, than Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan State, and the other high quality, well run football programs in the Midwest.

Fucking ridiculous response to bad news. Predictable torch and pitchfork mentality from the ignorant.

Yep. These so called fans are truly fanatics and have no perspective at all. There is nothing scientific or rational about their methods for assigning blame, and they are completely blind to the extent to which they and their quick twitch reactionary negativity are a part of the problem.

Give me a break. You people are the same ones saying that you don't even want Wilton Speight, who quarterbacked the most efficient and explosive offense in Michigan football history, on the roster. Based on a 4 game sample size throwing to wide receivers who are playing their first ever snaps of CFB.

I'm sure if Drevno is fired or moves on, you'll just find the next thing to complain about because you're a bunch of toxic and miserable lowlives who care way too damn much about college students playing a damn game.

We may lose this offseason, but maybe that is what this program needs.  We all got overly hyped by early success, winning numerous recruiting battles, being featured on sports shows weekly with Harbaugh's interesting behavior.  I love our head coach, and I think his energy and ingenuity have served us very well.  However, taking a step back in the offseason and maybe losing some recruiting battles that seem critical (Friday, Patterson, likely NPF) will force us to make do with what we have like many other programs have been able to do in such situations. We all know, offensive tackle is a weakness.  There are plenty of guys on this roster who are more than athleticallly capable to be solid for us (JBB, hopefully Newsome, J. Hudson, Stueber, Hongiford, etc.)  Coach Drevno has had success elsewhere, and there will not be any more confusing outside zone schemes from another OL coach with a completely different philosophy.  This is a year to swallow our pride, lose the offseason, and grind out win after win like Harbaugh teams have done at every stop before this one.  He has always done more with less, he can do it again.  Let's Go Blue!

Yeah but he’s been at his best when he had dominant offensive lines. Hopefully we have the next David decastro and Jonathon Martin already on the roster and ready to take advantage of their opportunity next year. The future is still bright but success is heavily reliant on the offensive line. We can strike out this year and be ok if they win. We knew they’d have a hard time against the top dogs again this year and recruiting is hurting because of it, but it can easily get on the right track again with a turnaround season. This offense has to take the next step and they have the horses on the roster to do it.
