Harbaugh has opinions about Dantonio

Submitted by WGoNerd on

Some fire here.  Seems as if coach Harbaugh doesn't care much for Dantonio's shade.

@CoachJim4UM: Saw Coach D comments on continuing to "focus" on how "he" can beat Michigan. Congrats on turning around a 3-9 team, plagued with off field issues. Good for BIG to have him back.

Harbaugh should be himself and that mean not taking shit from anyone....that's the attitude he brings and he's going to force upon those young pups in training. Next year is huge and the whole team will be on noticed. They have to take on a 'take no prisoners' mentality if they are going to go on the road and win all of those big games.

Here's the thing: Michigan has no ammunition to fire back right now. This is just inviting comments about being 1-2 against them, finishing in 4th place, and how he should "focus" on winning more games.

Yes, taking the high road all the time is not fun, but there's a reason why you don't stoop to their level.

A coach one year removed from 3-9, a program plagued with scandal after scandal, sexual assaults, an f'n cover up a year ago, a lottery win in 2015 and a 2-1 record over Harbaugh need not be shit talking.

Probably, Harbaugh woke up today with a headache unknown to mankind, he became aware of Mark D's intemperate comments. Asked himself "what's that guy's deal?" and took to the Twitter.

Talk shit, get hit.

People need to read what Dantonio actually said. He wasn't shit talking. A reporter asked about Michigan's record and the Outback Bowl. It wasn't like he went on an unprovoked rant.

"I just look at it as an opportunity to play in the Holiday Bowl right now. The records are what they are. I'll just continue to concentrate on beating Michigan, let things sort of sort out."

That's the thing. You can't stoop to their level. They have been beating us. Our level is not higher recently.

This isn't the human resources department. Taking the high road in college rivalries only makes sense when you're actually winning something. We need more of this kind of fuck you attitude, not less.

Yeah everything from other fanbases is just a parade of 1-2, or 1-5 collectively against msu/osu, or being 5-4 in the big ten and finishing 4th in the division in his third year, etc.  Michigan fans appreciate I guess which is nice but this is mostly just making Michigan a punching bag for not winning games at the national level, and that will be the storyline nationally no matter how close Michigan was to winning those games.  Those games being close means Harbaugh is doing much better as a coach than record indicates, but wins are the only thing that will actually change narratives.

I thought Harbaugh used the perfect ammo. he used MSU off the field problems which is a direct reflection of their coaching/leadership. it's arguable how much coaches can influence what goes on the field (players gotta make plays), but it's indisputable that a coach shouldn't let sexual predators fester on campus.

To some degree you may be right, but unless they stop playng football msu should probably just shut the fuck up. They got to play us with no QB this year and there will be no handicaps going forward. I see Danflirpio sending a lot of stuff to the big ten about how Michigan tackles because that is all he will have.

I wonder if this writer Crotch understands that anyone out of east lansing knows Michigan's program is way stronger, the outback bowl picks first and msu will always be a second rate program and school to Michigan.

Allthough I do like farmers a lot more than lawyers, usually.

Harbaugh didn't go apeshit quite as much on the sideline this year. I think that changes next year.

Also glad Harbaugh finally called out woe is me Sparty and MORK. I normally would be on the side of not say anything, but Mork (in person is a great guy at least imho) is such a crybaby and complains about anything Michigan related. I hate it, maybe he will stop if Jim continues to call him out for it.

Played 7 on 7 at both ND and MSU. Our team was pretty good and got to like the semi finals at ND (where schools from TX and stuff were there) and Weis came over to talk with us etc... only because we were doing good (basically). At MSU our team had no MSU recruits but Dantonio came over and asked if we wanted to go on a tour of the facilities, talked with us, and and was a genuinely nice dude. Would write “have a good season” letters before the year etc...

Fuck Mark Dantonio. He is obsessed with Michigan and takes every chance he can to get his little digs in. Apparently this is an itch that can't be scratched because he has 8 out of 10 and yet he is still miserable about it. He's not pissed about the Outback because they didn't get it. He's pissed because we did. That makes it an unhealthy obsession. I'm glad Harbaugh shot one across his bow, and I can guarantee you that whoever is sitting in that quarterbacks room over the next 8 months is going to feel "the hand of the Lord"--the winner of that competition will be ready for Notre Dame!

Really man? We beat a god awful MSU team last year and puffed our chests the entire year about it with all those stupid 3-9 jokes. Even if MSU went 0-12 this year and lost by 100 to Rutgers, we'd still be be bragging about it to no end.

And honestly, stop with the fucking excuses for MSU this year. They played in the same monsoon and they didn't turn it over once. Much less five times. They realized their surroundings, protected the football, and were content with a gameplan of sitting back and letting Michigan beat itself. They're not a great team this year by any stretch, but they were the better team that night. Or if nothing else, they were the smarter one.

I hate Mark Dantonio. He's probably one of the most smug asswipes in the game. But he can coach as well as anyone.

This is meaningless trash talk. When (if) you played and your teammate was talking trash and you were losing would you join the conversation arguing for the other team? We're not talking spread vs pro style. Nor Zone vs man on third and long. We're not arguing the merits of vertical kick stepping vs 45 degree kick. As Harbaugh said, we need our fans to be FOR us. Do better.

I actually am one to believe that one who talks smack only when they win is just a punk and a bully. But one who talks smack regardless of win or loss shows that is one fearless son of a gun who is always looking ahead and looking forward to the next challenge. Loss does not bring fear but opportunity. That's the kind of coach and program I want Michigan to be.

You don't cower and hide when you lose. You don't let yourself get trampled on after the clock strikes "0." . You tell them, "Congratulations on your victory, but I would still rather be Michigan and lose than Sparty and win."

Dantonio wants nothing more than for him to be able to show off his "2-1" vs Harbaugh and claim that he owns him, but the fact that Harbaugh doesn't let him absolutely gets under his skin. I don't care if that makes Dantonio work harder. You know what that ultimately means? When Harbaugh does in fact beat Dantonio, there isn't a single loss on Dantonio's resume that hurts worse. And that's exactly how I want it to be - how it should be with Sparty. Sparty will never be that for Michigan, and it burns them deep into their souls that that is the case.

And, again, this is why I love that Harbaugh doesn't let Dantonio off the hook without a quick jab back right in his Sparty soul. That's why I love the Twitter jabs and always will.
