Week 11 Imperialism Map
The week 11 college football imperialism map is up. With a win this weekend, Michigan would "take over" the largest number of counties in the country.

Too bad we won't get a chance to play Northwestern and recover our lost territories.

loses to Michigan in the B1G title game --- U-M gets that territory back. There is a path.

I thought it was just about impossible for UM to make the title game? ...I still have hope though

Won't beating Wisconsin give Miami more territory? because:
Wisconsin < Michigan < Michigan State < Notre Dame < Miami

The winner takes over the counties owned by the loser. Otherwise there would be a handful of unowned counties and only 4 teams on the map.

Nevermind

They just beat ND who had East lansing and Kzoo via MSU.

Notre Dame earned MSU's territory. And Louisville & Duke earned some Midwest territory by beating Purdue and NW early in the season in the nonconference. The nonconference schdule for conferences pretty much determined what territory could be gained during conference play.

Funny how the timing worked out. No Big Ten East team has any territory right now despite being the better division. PSU lost its territory to OSU who then turned around and ceded it to Iowa the following week. Wisconsin added Iowa's territory to its own this past week. Northwestern has the territory we earned during the nonconference after beating MSU.
If Michigan were to beat Wisconsin and OSU, there would most likely be no territory on the line in the B1G Championship Game.

Turning all that Badger Red to Blue would make this map a piece of art.

It's kind of a cool concept but every time I look at it I expect it to start looking something like the real college football landscape; with the top 4-5 eams separating themselves they should appear to have more real estate. But the way it's constructed where only the last game really matters, it just doesn't ever look like anything, really. They need to change the methodology or something.
I want to like this, but it's just kind of lame.

Yep. Why it seems to get a weekly thread, I don't know.

can you do this for a few previous years?
it would then give a better idea of how useful it is (just a thought).
I kind of like the idea but suspect it isn't that useful in the end.

Your mistake is thinking it is trying to be useful. Its utility is limited to mild entertainment and it is happy with that.

over the University of Alaska was a real barnburner. Fairbanks is one of the toughest venues to play, what with the bears and moose roaming the sidelines.

I'm of the opinion that my boss could hand everyone on the team a $100 bill and people would somehow find a way to bitch about it.

Well, paying players is still technically illegal so bitching might be understandable.

Just comments on a message board. I suppose if everyone has to support everything and not disagree with the OP, then I would probably lose interest in the whole endeavor pretty quickly. Sheesh.

It still makes me laugh that Miami owns all this territory across the country, from the entirety of Maine to northern California, and from Chicago to southwest Louisiana, but still doesn't own a single county in Florida.
