RCMB has high ACT scores? Oh....I get it....ACT stands for Amateur Couch Torching, or was it Advanced Cow Tipping...I can never quite remember.

Maybe he can bring back Zeke to give a motivational talk during his upcoming time off, you know, play like an Urban Meyer recruit!!!!! Too bad Aaron Hernandez is no longer around as another former Urban recruit.

I'll show myself this morning to allow you all to partake in some more schadenfreude. After all, this blog has provided me plenty of schadenfreude over the past 10 years. (...ahh...sweet, beautiful schadenfreude.)
There are certainly a lot of questions that this OSU team needs to answer. But any call to replace Meyer is the overreaction of an idiot. And asking to replace J.T. = "Where's Brandon Peters?"
It is a reality that Oklahoma & Mayfield have been thirsty for this game since last year. OU had by far the best offense in the nation in 2016 according to S&P+ (a larger gap between OU & #2 than the gap between Michigan's #2 defense & #3) and they return the strength of that offense (their QB and their entire O-line; all 5!...an O-line that is arguably the best in the nation...maybe an argument for Bama). That QB-Oline combination provides a championship-calibur offense, as long as the skill players contribute to do what Mayfield & the O-line will allow them to do. It's likely that at the end of the season we'll look back and see that the 31 points they scored at OSU is their lowest point total of the season.
It's also true that the last time OSU lost 2 out of 3, they went on to win the next 23 games including a playoff championship along the way. And the legitimate questions about the 2017 team the day after OU are minor compared to the questions that existed for the 2014 team the day after VaTech. On that day, it seemed reasonable to wonder if the 2014 team might spiral into a 3 or 4, even 5-loss team. Today, reasonably-minded Buckeye fans (an oxymoron, I know) know that this team could head into Ann Arbor with this OU loss being the team's only blemish.
The team has problems and insufficiencies, for sure. There are vulnerabilities. But the goal to win the B1G remains and is still entirely realistic, though the margin for error to reach the CFP is nil.
Still gonna be a great battle on Nov. 25. That game is sure to be another classic!

that your defensive coordinator did not witness a child being raped by Jerry Sandusky and then do nothing about it aside from him tweeting that it's not true? That's a highly specific accusation and I can't find any investigation further into an investigation.

But there are zero consequences for cowardice and for the concealed, intentional protection of criminal pedophiles.
Greg Schiano is still the defensive coordinator at Ohio State.
Tom Bradley is still the defensive coordinator at UCLA.
I know. It's hard to fathom how Ohio State and UCLA grads, and all other college football fanbases are not actually comprised ofsocial justice warriors. They don't really care about the reality of such matters, or fairness or human morality. So cowardice of superiors in the 1970s is forgiven.
I will say that Jim Heacock and Mark Dantonio were far better defensive coordinators at Ohio State than Greg Schiano, Tom Bradley or even Jerry Sandusky ever were. Hands down.

Are you seriously asking for evidence that something did not happen? If it didn't happen, how could there be evidence?
I mean, there is irrational homerism (like mine) and then there is dumb homerism (like your post).

even 5-10% of the OSU fanbase were as rational as you.
It is clear that OSU has the talent to be much better than they are playing. It certainly is very reasonable to expect that they will be favored to win most of their games this season.
However, schematically OSU has a huge problem if they don't have a downfield passing attack. JT is simply not accurate enough to beat the best teams reliably. There's a reason that OSU "plays down" to their opponents (and to the neverending frustration of its fans): if you line up to stop the run against Urban's scheme, you can keep yourself in the game. Sometimes, OSU's passing game is clicking and then it's a blowout for OSU. Sometimes, Urban goes away from the running game and then really bad things happen for OSU.
The question is will OSU fans lose their minds if they have 2- and 3-loss seasons routinely. I think we both know the answer to that...

Ohio State lost because their DL got zero push on the OU OL and Mayfield had all freaking day against a young, confused Ohio secondary.
My sense is that Michigan may be joining the same damn TWIS roster soon enough, unless the offense improves.
Maybe as soon as next week vs. Air Force. Who knows.
Like OU's Mayfield, a QB like Arion Worthman is definitely not to be taken lightly.
But while we all wait, yes, I will enjoy licking Buckeye tears with you.
Also, GO ARMY!!!

We very well may be a TWIS feature at some point...but not this week!
September 10th, 2017 at 12:51 PM ^
Monken is a good coach; Army is definitely on the upswing. They are still a ways off from getting the kind of recruits Navy snags - guys who if they get a crease can occasionally take it to the house against non-tomato can opponents.
Go Navy!

After that flag planting, if I'm Urban I'm trying to get Oklahoma on next years schedule and every year after that. I hope Joe Bolden was taking notes... you plant the flag ( stake) AFTER you win. If seeing them plant that flag doesn't light a serious fire nothing will.
September 10th, 2017 at 12:55 PM ^
This OSU team is trash. The secondary is a sieve, the linebackers play out of position, the wide receivers don't know how to run routes, and of course JT Barrett can't throw. Honestly, if Harbaugh can't win this year he may never beat OSU.

What I find amazing is all the Buckeye fans whining about "sportsmanship". These are the same people that cheered an OSU player giving the double bird as he walked out of Michigan Stadium.
September 10th, 2017 at 1:15 PM ^
They wear their lack of sportsmanship as a badge of honor.
They take pride in the fact that they have created a hostile environment in Columbus that keeps opposing fans away. They like to think of themselves as "Raiders" type fans.
Sportsmanship is for Northwestern.
So for them to whine about lack of sportsmanship from a team who just gave them a taste of their own medicine is a joke of epic proportions.
Like the 8th grade bully who cries when he loses to a bigger bully in the schoolyard.

That's why I'm stunned at the hypocrisy.

MICHIGAN STATE will be a battle this year!! I am on-board for that game. Pour the drinks and let the fun begin. :-)

You're right. He's doing great. It's hard to throw for over 100 yards against a Big 12 defense.

they've had good luck in recent memory with a 3rd string quarterback.

The amount of steady regression from J.T since his RS freshman year is crazy. After his first year as a starter folks considered him a legit NFL prospect at QB more so than Cardale Jones, fast forward a few years and I don't see anyway J.T gets drafted by any team at any position.
Someone above me said he would be a TE at Michigan.... when would Harbaugh put out a 6'1 TE? He's simply not athletic enough to play any other position.

Maybe Ohio-native Bob Stoops will coach the Buckeyes after one year of retirement! (not really, just sounded somewhat...familiar)
September 10th, 2017 at 4:25 PM ^
I'd love to see Bob Cooper, er, Stoops in Columbus.
I realized OU had a shot yesterday when I remembered that "Big Game Bob" was no longer going to imitate a deer in the headlights on the sidelines.

This is all on Urban . Can't blame JT or Beck or Herman or Wilson. This is squarely on Urban Meyer's shoulders. He said things would change after Clemson. Well, he was right- they've gotten worse.
September 10th, 2017 at 10:44 PM ^
Maybe we should all step back and show some sympathy for the fans of Ohio State. They are physically, intellectually and emotionally hurting right now. Physically because of the fall from that VERY HIGH HORSE they have been riding on - that is one hell of a fall. Intellectually - if you can use that term with a buckeye fan - because they are starting to realize that this man they believe to be a God has been outcoached in 3.5 out of his last 4 games. He was outcoached by Harbaugh last November, certainly by Clemson, for the first half vs Indiana and now by a 32 year old boy coaching in only his second game as a head coach. Finally, their emotions are all jumbled up because.......ah Fuck the buckeyes and their fans - they're all self serving pricks anyway - GO BLUE
