GOT season 7 episode 5! East watch
Whats up?
After last weeks episode I am expecting the action to continue right from the begining to end.
I realized we only have three episodes left this year, so does that mean next week is the 'surprise' week? Personally I expect non stop action...
I'm still hoping Jamie ends up on the throne!
&
I'm praying Tormund survives!

That is actually brilliant. It'd be a great way for her (and him) to realize who he really is.

D: Oh, wow, my dragon likes you.
J: Yeah, weird huh?
The End
Jon doesn't know his heritage. Remember that Tyrion approached and released the dragons in season 6 without getting torched so it's not like they just burn/eat everyone in their paths. She was obviously intrigued by how well Drogon took to Jon, but no way she would consider it's because he's a Targaryean.

This is my belief as well. I buy the Joanna Lanister/Mad King theory for Tyrion. It explains the obsession of Tywin Lannister with the Targaryens beyond the Mad King being crazy and his absolute hatred for Tyrion. There are three dragons for three the Targaryens, Danny, Jon, and Tyrion (him taking Aegon's place from the book). However, I don't think we end the season with all three dragons.
August 14th, 2017 at 10:31 AM ^
but again Danaerys didn't suspect Tyrion of being a Targaryean based on that interaction and wouldn't have done the same when it took to Jon.
Probably more a situation where Dany thinks the Dragons can sense who is truly good/loyal to her.
August 14th, 2017 at 9:18 AM ^
I don't think her intention was to scare Jon to make him bend the knee at that moment.
August 13th, 2017 at 10:37 PM ^
I thought the whole "Bronn and Jamie wash up 1/2 a mile from the scene of defeat" bit was a bit hard to swallow. Emilia Clarke was outstanding in this episode, though. She said a lot without saying a word, in multiple scenes, and that's hard to do.
The Arya versus Littlefinger duel took a turn I did not suspect. Littlefinger is still the boss.
The fact that Jon is now reenacting the quest of the Last Hero speaks poorly for the odds his companions survive. The Hound will make it, and Gendry, but I suspect they and Jon will be it. At least Beric Dondarrion will get a hero's death, rather than the mean death he suffers in the books.

It's gonna suck if Tormund dies without ever professing his love for Brienne...

Who "revives" him first, Thoros or the Night King? Or do they get to him at the same time and create another form of weird wight-hybrid like Benjen? Didn't Benjen describe himself as "kinda dead" last season?
August 14th, 2017 at 10:33 AM ^
Benjen is dead but it is weird that he's still "good" or not under the Night King's control....
August 14th, 2017 at 12:12 PM ^
I think Beric is going to be the wight that ends up being brought back south. Thoros will rush over to him after seeing him fall in battle only to see his eyes turn blue before Thoros can do anything.
August 14th, 2017 at 1:45 PM ^
Jorah will be the white walker that they bring back. Someone in that 7 has to be it. What better way to serve his queen.
August 14th, 2017 at 2:39 PM ^
gotta be Jorah.
I don't think it could be Beric since he's already a fire wight. Unless my knowlegde/assumptions about the walking dead are wrong.
August 14th, 2017 at 12:17 PM ^
Especially since Bronn pulls Jaime out of the water (as if they are in the same place) but they're really a mile or so away... WTF?
I also really like the Arya/Sansa turmoil after last week's nice reunion; they fell back into their original dynamic.

Wait wait wait... Rhaegar and Lyanna were actually married foreal foreal?
And they just gloss over it like it's no big deal?
THAT'S A HUGE PLOT LINE HELLO!
August 13th, 2017 at 11:04 PM ^
It doesn't mean anything to Sam in the moment, but he was listening/will remember since he repeats the number of steps Gilly was talking about. I'd imagine when Sam gets back to Winterfell/the wall Bran or someone will bring it up and Sam will confirm it-- since he gave that book to little Sam before they left the Citadel.
I'm curious how many show watchers completely missed that huge line of dialogue
August 14th, 2017 at 1:36 AM ^
wait...WHAT!!!???
August 14th, 2017 at 7:22 AM ^
yep, Sam was being a typical pissed off graduate student because Maester school is pretty much game of thrones graduate school. He will make the connection soon in tandem with Bran and Gilly.

I had to pause the show and 'splain what happened to the wife... It was a quick line, delivered and lost with Sam's anger. And then buried by him leaving the Citadel - a most unexpected move. It will come up again at some opportune time in the North.

You watch this show with the volume way up, and make sure it's DVRing in case you need to re-wind and re-listen.
August 14th, 2017 at 1:47 PM ^
Sub titles on. That's how I caught the line about the gold making it to Kings Landing last week. Meanwhile everyone else is screaming she's burning the gold.
August 14th, 2017 at 10:51 AM ^
Remember that Brandon is pretty much any one of us in that he just sits there and watches the GOT show and knows everything we know.
Instead of Bran just telling Jon who his paraents are, he can also tell him they were married, because Brandon knows everything.
August 14th, 2017 at 11:22 AM ^
We know that as the audience, but few people in Westeros know exactly what Brandon is and can do. He even said to Sansa "it's difficult to explain." Of course it is. How can people possibly understand or even believe what he can do? He'd have the same trouble doing so, just like Jon has trouble getting people to believe that the white walkers are real.
August 14th, 2017 at 12:04 PM ^
I guess the scroll is proof of marriage, though not sure how they will "prove" Jon is their kid.
To your point, Bran may know everything, but proving it is another. Unless of course one of the nurses present at the birth steps forward.
I think Bran can convince any one individual that he's telling the truth. All it took was a "Chaos is a ladder" and littlefinger knew, and a "She's on her list" for Aria to know.
Will be interesting to see what Danny thinks if this comes to light. She has no claim for the throne as Jon's is stronger. Maybe she ends up back in Essos banging Daairo Naharis as Jorah is forced to watch.

That's why we need Howland Reed! He's my favorite character that we haven't heard/seen directly.

Please ignore
August 13th, 2017 at 11:24 PM ^
showwatchers probably have no clue how huge that line was...
Did she actually say lyanna stark or did I fill in the name in my memory?
August 13th, 2017 at 11:29 PM ^
She just mentioned "prince ragger" got an annulment and had a secret wedding in Dorne, she didn't mention Lyanna
August 14th, 2017 at 2:30 AM ^
knew about this secret wedding in Dorne....
August 14th, 2017 at 7:10 AM ^
To be fair, we only know one maester knew of it... And who knows how long he kept it secret and how little he publicized it outside of that note.
August 14th, 2017 at 7:57 AM ^
The book was written by a High Septon, not a Maester. Still, it's odd that this bombshell about the most important and famous guy in the realm didn't attract more attention.
August 14th, 2017 at 8:56 AM ^
Rhaegar was the prince, so I imagine he had access to the High Septon since the sept is in King's Landing. Some High Septons have been good, some bad. Maybe this guy was good at keeping secrets.
August 14th, 2017 at 2:43 PM ^
it was the High Septon that performed the service and he apparenlty recorded. And that documentation made it to the Citadel without ever being noticed (yes, it was buried in mundane details, so it's plausible, I guess), or if it was, it was kept a secret by the maesters.

the bastard is not, in fact, a bastard at all.
Speaking of huge plot lines though. He's also not even human anymore according to GRRM. He's a fire wight, along with Beric. Mind blown.
August 14th, 2017 at 9:44 AM ^
they had a nice little bonding moment about both being bastards and their father's being best friends. what will happen when they find out jon's not a bastard and his father was killed by gendry's father?
August 14th, 2017 at 10:29 AM ^
Hard to shake off a lifetime of being raised as a bastard.
August 14th, 2017 at 10:37 AM ^
since all dwarves are bastards in the father's eyes. But agree with the above post the being a bastard is more of a state of mind for him than a technicality. Catelyn treated him like a bastard, he was always treated differently than his "siblings", he's a bastard at heart. When he finds out Ned wasn't his real father but lied about it, he might even start to have some daddy issues.
August 14th, 2017 at 11:24 AM ^
The father Jon never knew? I have to imagine that will be a non-issue for Jon. Also, how can he possibly be mad at Gendry for the actions of his father?
August 14th, 2017 at 4:47 PM ^
Have you ever watched this show? Heredity is everything when the throne is at stake!
