GOT season 7 episode 5! East watch

Submitted by jdon on

Whats up?

After last weeks episode I am expecting the action to continue right from the begining to end.

I realized we only have three episodes left this year, so does that mean next week is the 'surprise' week?  Personally I expect non stop action...

I'm still hoping Jamie ends up on the throne!

&

I'm praying Tormund survives!

I just think that they purposely had Sam miss that point, so it can be picked up at a later date.  I really like the thought someone else mentioned about Sam finding a way to smith Valerian steel, and Gendry being able to master the art.

Targaryn's notoriously intermarry to keep the blood lines pure.  Jon was hinted to be the legitimate son of Dany's older brother which would make him the rightful heir to the Targaryn claim on the iron throne.  Dany could marry Jon Snow and rule together.  But I think it is more likely that one of them dies and the other gets the iron throne in the end.  Right now my money is on Jon Snow dying shortly after he puts a baby in Dany.

Yes, I am well aware of what the Targaryens did. I don't see Daenerys' doing that, though. With only eight episodes remaining, there is simply no time for them to develop a romance. Jon already left and likely won't be coming back, at least for a while.

I do not understand your denial. What are you going to do when it happens? Quit the show? Jump on every thread after that moment and whine?

You do not build a world with a male and female hero and not have them get romantic. They are not going to fist bump, one goes south and the another heads north to live happily ever after.

Like the Sopranos or something I'll Be so pissed. I mean I can understand at the end If everyone is sitting around staring At eachother and they start playing, "Don't stop believing" and all, just Don't end like the Sopranos. /s Been a fun ride so far.

I thought for sure it would be battle of kings landing and then battle the night king but I am happy with how it looks like its going. Though it is hard to believe cercei will honor the truce.

It makes more sense narratively to have the team up to take out the night king in order to reach a conclusion with characters that we are more attached to.

They VERY hastily and slightly awkwardly re-introduced those "fab five" characters — Jorah, Gendry, Hound, Beric and Thoros — only to send them to immediately take on the wights? So Jorah's grayscale, Gendry rowing, the Hound camping out with that priest: All just to route them back to next week's episode?

Lots of plot lurching forward quickly with all these fellas to bring us to next week. Should be interesting to see what purpose all of these characters hold in this battle and beyond. Hope none of them goes down in a shruggie/oh-well death like Selmy.

His character has weighed the show down for two seasons now, and this absurd kill off/gotcha he's not dead moment is the worst. They should just leave him off screen until he tries to kill Cersei

IIRC he is in training to become the next Maester at Castle Black.  So he is very much still a member of the night's watch.  Now the fact that he is galavanting around with a single mom that he clearly has feelings for you could make the argument that he has a loose interpretation of the "take no wife" part of his vows.

In your defense though, Sam just upped and left Oldtown and we're not too sure where he's heading at this point. Presumably north to help Jon, but he said he's tired of only reading about the acheivements of better men.

My guess is he's realized that if he wants to make change in the world, it's not going to be as a maester locked away at the far end of the world and tending to no one but theives, murderers and rapists. My guess is that Sam will never be donning the black again.

What are the chances that a "Stark" marriage wouldn't catch Gilly's eye, given that Sam undoubtedly engages in rapt exposition about Jon Snow's heroic life whenever he gets the chance? I'm not sure I like Gilligan's Island style comedy interrupting my GoT fix. This secret is taking over the show, especially since it apparently can be proven that Jon is a rightful heir to the Iron Throne. I'm glad things aren't too comfortable between Arya and Sansa. We haven't forgotten just how much they hated each other before they were separated. I wasn't expecting Gendry to reappear, but the hammer stuff is notable because Robert killed "Ragger" with his war hammer. So many parallels, so little time.

I'm guessing that Sam, in his random grab of books, took a manuscript with instructions on how to produce Valyrian steel. With Gendry reappearing, I bet he is the blacksmith that is able to actually handle the process.

the sound Drogon makes right before he lights shit up?!  I can't come up with anything it sounds like, but when I heard it in last nights episode, I was like Ohhhh, here we go!
