I practiced law with LSC-funded legal aid programs for sixteen years, and the higher-level anti-poverty advocacy I do now would probably not be possible without the existence of the LSC-funded programs.  So I obviously agree with Coach and appreciate his Tweet.  Go Blue.

Our football coach having an educated / non-controversial opinion on a topic that he's personally involved with shouldn't automatically qualify as "political."  It was a pretty innocuous statement with no partisan slant.

It's the posters who will want to take this thread as an opportunity to let us all know their particular feelings on this and other subjects that make these topics so verboten.  One guy (and surprised it hasnt happened yet but trust me...it will) will get on a soapbox telling all of us how much he either agrees (and where's why) with Harbaguh or the other side (and here's why) and then off we go into a shit storm.

I'll say this before this thread goes away, although I would be open to having an off topic section of Mgoblog as to discuss these type of things.

As some one who voted for neither candidate but leans right, I have to agree. The fact he got elected shows just how terrible all the candidates in this election were. What a mess.

When the outcome is binary, you vote for the lesser of two evils.  If the two major candidates were indeed equally bad to you, then ok (while I find this to be an incredibly misinformed and an ignorant false equivalency that many bought in to), I could understant the vote if it's truly what you believed.

However, if you felt that 1 of the 2 major candidates was .00000001% better than the other, you should vote for that candidate. Protest 3rd party votes do not make you morally superior, better informed, or more intellectually independent than the rest of us. Instead, you threw your vote in the garbage in a fit of self aggrandizement and sanctimony.

does the OP make a nonpartisan statement by Harbaugh so political? Just stop it. Anybody of any political background might support legal aid for the poor.

not caring what highly paid sports and entertainment figures think about most things. I look at Michigan's debt, the athletic department's debt and the cost of a Michigan degree and wonder if there shouldn't be some soul searching closer to home.

Coach is highly more aware of the LSC than Trump is. He's the one in family living rooms every day, and dealing first hand with the challenges many families face. It's not political to care about people and Coach cares.
