Partridge Named Special Teams Coordinator
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh announced Wednesday (Feb. 8) that Chris Partridge has been named the University of Michigan football program's special teams coordinator and linebackers coach. Partridge was elevated to an assistant coach in 2016, working with parts of the special teams and linebackers after serving as the team's director of player personnel in 2015.
"Chris is a hard-working, valuable member of our coaching staff," said Harbaugh. "He works extremely well across all levels of our football program, athletic department and university. Chris handles his on- and off-field responsibilities at an exemplary level. I look forward to his continued work with our student-athletes and their families."
Partridge will oversee all aspects of special teams with input from other members of the coaching staff. Jay Harbaugh will coach the running backs and be co-special teams coordinator.
Partridge has been named the top recruiter in college football the past two seasons. He was named the 2017 Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports after being named Scout.com's Recruiter of the Year in 2016.

Remember that Don Brown coaches linebackers as well. But I agree, CP has been a huge value to us and should be paid more than Frey, who will be making 500K/year, since he has already proven his value to this staff (not knocking Frey, I think he'll be great). CP can obviously coach as our ST actually improved this year after losing Baxter, and his PC teams were always NJ state title contenders, though he did have superior talent to work with. Given that he is probably the best recruiter on the staff aside from the big man himself, he should probably be making $700k or so.

Correct Brown is the LB coach...we're all good.

Last year Brown was coaching the inside linebackers and Partridge had the SAMs. I'm not sure whether that will change this year or not.

So he skips right past archbishop and cardinal? That's a triple promotion!

I doubt it... he will ride the JH train to stardom for at least several more years before riding off into the coaching tree sunset...

CP will replace Chris Ash at Rutgers. Let's hope that Ash is successful enough to keep his job but not so successful that he can attract elite NJ recruits.

No it is not sarcasm. Rutgers last three head coaches were assistants before they were hired. CP is knowledgeable about the B1G and has an existing relationship with NJ HS coaches and players. Rutgers is probably Michigan's biggest threat to retaining CP.

Could it happen? Sure. Would Partridge be wise to take over that steaming cess pool of football shit and scum and snot and vomit and other gross things? No...

I don't know if the bad blood with high school coaches has died down enough for him to be successful at Rutgers or not. If you recall, he was offered a job at Rutgers, then there was an outcry from some high school coaches about the possible hire and the job offer was rescinded. That's when Harbaugh stepped in and offered him the job.

Seriously, If I'm Rutgers I am looking at him very closely. Very closely. 2018 closely.

Good news and well-deserved for such a valuable member of the staff.
I will admit, however, that I chuckle when they write the full donor-inspired title of "Head Football Coach" in every release like this. I know why they do it, but it still seems a bit excessive.

Agreed. It sounds awkward at best.

he deserved a promotion for his recruiting alone.
Not to thread-jack but is anyone else getting tons of 522 errors on the site?
Been happening to me all day & I keep thinking I'm missing some really good, or really bad news.

I haven't had any 522 errors. The app has been funky today, though.
