They said yesterday that she was in stable condition, but the way they were talking about her it felt like she was on the verge of passing. Sad news. She had a little rough go at times, which can be expected from anyone that becomes such a big celebrity at such a young age, but had rebounded well. I wonder how this effects the new trilogy's story line. May the force be with you Princess.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace.

I loved her snarky attitude later in life. By all accounts she was a tortured soul who finally found some peace.

Oh God she was awesome. Someone mentioned her wit. She openly challenged taboos when it came to discussing Hollywood, mental health, drug addiction, and so on. Oh, and she was Princess fucking Leia. Plus she was in When Harry Met Sally, another favorite of mine. In the last two weeks, Alan Thicke, George Michael, and now Carrie Fisher. Not a good time for beloved 80s icons.

I would love if the politics ended on here.  (And we're not morans on here either, we also get the thinly veiled political references.  Just get on Twitter with that.  You can say whatever you want there.)

She let herself age. Like, she looked like a real woman should look at 60. I know there is more to her than that, but I respect the hell out of people who are comfortable in their own skin.

My childhood through high school is taking a major beating in 2016, and this simply adds to it unfortunately. Even though I was always far more partial to Star Trek, it was hard to deny that Star Wars was a great story and that she was a huge part of it. 60 is far too young.

RIP Carrie FIsher.

When I was 6 years old I my celebrity crushes were Princess Leia and Daisy Duke. I remember my mom told me that Carrie had married Paul Simon and I got so jealous.

John Belushi strikes from the grave. Belushi got Carrie Fisher hooked on the smack after she hosted SNL. Spoiler: Leia survives episode 8.  I hope Disney didnt have big plans for Leia in episode 9. Dammit.  Fisher really was a rather attractive young woman.

My favorite Fisher pic.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more CGI scenes with her a la Tarkin in Rogue One.

They may have some of, if not all of her scenes filmed for Ep. 8, but there's no way any filming has started for Ep. 9. That story is likely going to have to be altered now, because you can't just bring in someone else. Would be akin to asking someone besides Harrison Ford to play Han Solo.

just finished a post on the Transfer thread and then saw this.  Very, very sad.  Loved the character of Leia and much respect for Carrie the actress.  Literally since hearing the news of her cardiac episode, have not had a waking hour where I wasn't hoping for her recovery.

Yesterday I introduced my 9th grader to a DVD viewing of the original 1977 Star Wars.

Damn.

Very sad day.
