Winds of 20-30 MPH Expected Saturday

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

Winds of 20-30 MPH are expected for gametime Saturday, along with temperatures in the high 30s. There might be gusts up to 40 MPH. Between us and Indiana, who does this help or hurt? I'm thinking we won't be seeing many downfield passes, so O'Korn's ability to run will probably be key.

And speaking on behalf of everyone who's going to the game, can't we just move it to Friday, when it'll be 68 and sunny?

think it changes things all that much.  Indiana may die slightly less if we can't get much going downfield.  I think it is more unfortunate in the sense that O'Korn may be limited in terms of play calling and may not have a chance to work on timing with receivers for the following week.

Yes, I believe we are going to kill Indiana.

No, I am not worried about this game.

team has been a wrecking ball.  Every thing that could go wrong did go wrong last Saturday and Iowa needed a last second field goal at home to win and only scored 14 points.

It happens.  We're in good shape.  O'Korn will be fine and Hurst and company will be filling up their bellies all afternoon.

This team has been a wrecking ball, except for their most recent game when they got beat in almost all phases of the game. Then they lost their starting QB. So yeah, there's some big unknowns heading into a game against a solid opponent where weather is going to be a factor. Weather can be the great equalizer, see MSU-OSU last year. We've got a wounded team coming off an unlikely loss that will look to rely on a running game that was largely ineffective last week. So there is some reason to be nervous.

If we give up eight safeties for 16 points and hold Indiana to zero after all those punts after the safety this truly is the greatest defense in the history of Michigan football.

weather impacts both sides, not sure how it's an "equalizer".  As for MSU well they have 6 losses this year, only an MSU fan would hang on to an outlier so hard.  Sure they beat OSU last year, at OSU.  Everyone with a pulse knows Urban was inexplicably asleep that game. Following that win, MSU ensured by its antics at the Shoe, that the Bucks would be out for blood this year.  Now, who knows, it's college.  Maybe Sparty can pull it off again!  After all, they are playing OSU at home!  This is one of those games where it doesn't matter who wins. MSU was exposed, brutally, being the only team in a bowl game not to score ANY points.  None.  The Cook-Burbridge duo was nullified and the last minute attempt to get in position to put 3 on the board was intercepted by Bama.

Take a team that is one-dimensional and relies on a precision passing game who is an underdog.  Does that team's chances go up because of high winds and rain?  Not so much.

I mean, I can see situations where weather favors an underdog.  And I can see situations where the weather favors the favorite.

In any event, I'm with iJohnB - I'm not overly concerned about this game.

A spread / tempo team like Indiana should be impacted more than a downhill Manball team like UM.

With a a QB to break in, I think our game plan will be to run it down their throats, regardless of the weather.  Sounds like Indiana mixes up run/pass pretty well.  If they are going more toward run, we've got to figure out a way to rotate D-Linemen as they run tempo - especially if they are moving the sticks.

All that said - I've always viewed weather as an equalizer - it seems like more upsets happen in crazy weather than on warm sunny days

Mid-to-late November in Michigan is supposed to be cold, windy, wet and/or snowy, and dreary. That's football weather.

Hoping for a repeat of 1950 in Columbus this year, by the way...

You forgot to mention the 40% chance of showers.

LOOK:

We have given up 8 turnovers all year (4 of each) Indiana has 22 including 9 fumbles.

We are #14 in turnover ratio, they are #109 in ratio.

I think sloppy and windy favors us.
