Week 7: Best thing you saw...

Submitted by mi93 on

What nearly ended up with being the fans of the clear #2 team in the land didn't end up quite so, but a very entertaining week.

- Tennesse (and Ole Miss) finally gets the door shut on them as pretender

- NC State and Wisc nearly pulled off upsets (as did Indiana)

- Sparty goes down again

- Ohio looks mortal, as does Clemson

The best things for me this week, though, are:

- the safety by Northwestern - one of the best, cleanest hits on a QB you'll ever see, and with tremendous authority as MSU's QB was horizontal immediately after the hit - the definition of a 'de-cleater'

- this article... http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/16/sports/ncaafootball/houston-cougars-t… ... coaching, like leadership, at every level is about teaching and caring; winning is only a result, of good teaching and building believers amongst the team, the team, the team...the article struck an interesting chord with me

Even putting aside the Hoke and Rich Rod eras, MSU and their marginal players defeated more talented Michigan teams in 1993, 1995, 1999, 2001, and 2015. I also think M will win this year but the possibility of MSU playing out of their minds for one week against M indeed lingers.

last year.

Sure, we lost on a fluke play at the end, but the fact that it had to come to that is proof that we were'nt a head above them.

Oh yeah, they also beat OSU (which we sure couldn't do)

& an undefeated (if overated) Iowa for the B10 Championship.

As much as I hate them, after all the games were played, they were the best when they needed to be.

By the end of the season, had we played them again, I think we could have kicked their ass.

The only thing that's going to keep UM from scoring in this game is Harbaugh playing 4th teamers.  Yeah, I have no doubt that MSU will come out fired up and will play HARD.  For the first quarter.  By then, the blowout will be on and they'll start to quit.  It'll be over by halftime...

They lack talent across the board, and haven't believed in the coaching.  McDowell alone isn't going to be remotely good enough to beat an angry Michigan team after last year.

Some delicious schadenfreude from both ND and MSU, including this tweet from Jimmy Clausen:

by how easy NU moved up and down the field vs. Sparty.  Their QB had tons of time...they ran the ball..they seemed to pretty much score at will.

I see NO way the Spartans contain Michigan for 4 quarters and even less chance that the Spartans can sustain any sort of consistant offense against this defense.

Calling Wolverine Devotee. Did Lloyd ever have a 4 game losing streak? I don't think he did, but someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Against UCF was has to be up there. Obviously, seeing Scott Frost lose is a bonus, but seeing PJ Walker (who played poorly the entire game) drive 70 yards (he as 4 for 4) in 30 seconds to throw the game winning touchdown was just amazing. Also, the continued implosion of both ND & MSU are fantastic.
