Tony Paul of the Detroit News (@TonyPaul1984) tweeted the following (at work, can't embed tweets, sorry for the formatting):

UM coach John Beilein says there is a possibility for more player(s) transferring out. Should know within next two weeks.

Beilein says he's OK losing an assistant to a head coaching job. Speculation about Bacari Alexander to Detroit

UMCJB says it was Ricky Doyle's decision to transfer "but we were very transparent with him." Crowded frontcourt

UMCJB says he doesn't mind the national heat over his stance on Big Ten transfers. "I'll take the bullets".

UMCJB says the team is open to Spike Albrecht returning. Notes team wants defense, and he can defend.

I'll update the OP if more comes

there is good attrition and bad attrition.  So far, it has all been good attrition with the possible exception of Spike which is an odd situation given the injuries and graduation status.

I would have felt much worse about the future of the program if we weren't experiencing this attrition.  The 2014 recruiting class was a massive failure so its probably better for everyone that some of those guys move on.

This is NOT the issue with the RPI. He just does not get it or refused to consider the real problem.

Beilein says he'd like to get another high-major non-conference opponent for this fall. Doesn't want RPI to hurt team's chances.

like the coach I knew from exactly 24 months ago has been kidnapped and replaced with an imposter.  That coach "had subs" and seemingly had the correct answer to every question posed to him on the floor and off.  This answer is not correct, and very few of his answers seem to be.  Wtf?

I'm sorry, but the coach you knew from 24 months ago is a guy who caught lightning in a bottle.  His answer on the court was having more talent than the opponent, which is obviously no longer the case and likely won't be with the way he's recruiting.  I have no issues with anything Beilein said in the OP, my issue is that mid major caliber players like Dawkins and Doyle predictably couldn't play in the Big Ten and transferred out.  The 2014 class is nothing short of a disaster.

Us as a fanbase need to stop being okay with this mediocrity. It's kind of sad that Illinois and Penn State are looking more forward to next season than we are. How did we end up in this state? How are we more likely than not, expecting another subpar season? We need answers.

The fanbase needs to stop being so fickle and stop trying to micromanage the coach.  Basketball recruiting is the diritest in all of sports.  Michigan is still playing it clean.  Teams that don't pay handlers a lot of money have to build more like mid-majors do and hope they either find players nobody else is "onto" yet or get the occasional top 20 kid to turn down good money and play at Michigan.

Exactly. Oklahoma just fell short of what we did in 2013 and will not follow it up with a conference title and Elite 8 next year like we did. They will continue to be a good program with years that a better than others just like us. Lon Kruger is a good coach. However, OU has not become anything that we are not already.

The only one of those teams with recent success similar/better than UM is Villanova, and until 2 weeks ago, they were known mostly for choking in the tournament.

Oklahoma has 1 FF, 1 Sweet 16 and 2 losses in the first round.  No NCAA in '10, '11, and '12.

Oregon has 1 Elite 8, 1 Sweet 16 and 2 losses in 2nd rd. No NCAA in '09, '10, '11, '12.

Texas A&M has 1 sweet 16. They didn't make the tournament in '12, '13, '14, '15.

Xavier has 3 sweet 16's, 1 loss each in 2nd, first, and play-in. Didn't make tournament in '13.

It's crazy to judge a program on 1 or even 2 seasons. 1 key injury or an upset in the NCAA's can have so much short-term impact.

All those teams were loaded with great upperclassmen that developed. Oklahoma hasn't even been to an elite 8 since Blake Griffin. Didn't make the tournament every year either.

Xavier and Villanova have been more consistent lately, but you could make an argument that Michigan has been the better team with the highest accomplishments the last five years among all of them except maybe Xavier and Villanova. Even still it's close.

We've only missed ONE tournament in the last five years. ONE. And more 1st round draft picks than all of those teams.

Stop with this crap...we can recruit with anyone, our coach just handcuffs us in recruiting with his stringent rules. I refuse to believe that all of college basketball is a bunch of sinners and we are the lone angels.

problem with those rules. They are in on these kids, building relationships and watching them play. If a kid doesn't want to see the school or is offended that Michigan wants to see them in action and look at their grades, then so be it. The top ranked kids aren't picking their destinations that early anyway.

We all want to be squeaky clean, but it is exceedingly hard.  I for one, aspire to be better than Northwestern on a regular basis.  Some people are happy with that as long as we get really good guys on the team who stay 4 years.

That's probably on us as a fanbase then, not the coach and the team. Illinois and Penn State didn't make the tournament and we bring back everyone minus 2 injured senior leaders who didn't play last year and 2 backup players that wouldn't get much playing time. Maybe we should be excited about next year

Actually, we as a fanbase need to stop overreacting to perceived problems of Beilein as head coach three years removed from a national championship game, two from an outright B1G title and Elite 8 appearance. Of course Illinois and Penn State are looking forward to their seasons, you can only go up from the bottom. Now, because of two injury plagued seasons, a bunch of you are Nervous Nellies. There are some signs for concern--I agree with complaints of poor defense and missing on some recruiting wins--but why don't you all take a deep breath and see if Beilein can right this ship? Calm down and root for Michigan.
