OT - What Are (or Were) Your Spring Break Plans
Mates,
My office is nearly deserted today with many gone on spring break to one place or another. Nice to have a slow Monday for once, too. I would guess many here are headed somewhere during break, whether with kids or without.
Where are you headed?
Looking good Billy Ray!

And by the way - I wore a M hat on campus and people were actually pretty nice to me. And that burger left me full in a way I havent experinced before. It was delicious but man oh man, that is a lot of meat to try and take down in one sitting. Fun bar though. Think of it like a smaller version of Ashley's.
"And that burger left me full in a way I havent experinced before... that is a lot of meat to try and take down in one sitting."
Phrasing?

Thailand is fabulous, but man that is a very long flight......with three kids? Yikes!
It sure will be fun when you get there though. Thai people are some of the nicest folks you will ever meet...........anywhere.

What is this thing you call Spring Break?
How far did you get? We made it in about 1 mile, because we just wanted to take a look (rain had washed out part of the trail path when we were there), but we want to go back and do the full trail someday. Hope you finished off the week with some bloody marys at the St. Regis.
Hiked all the way to Kalalau Beach, camped there for the night and then hiked back out the next morning. 22 miles, 10,000 ft of elevation gain/loss, and 10 valleys in ~36 hours...my dogs were barking. We made it out two hours ahead of a storm that caused flash flood conditions for the next 1.5 days at the major stream crossings. We were lucky to get out ahead of the weather. No St. Regis, but hit up the Bubba Burger in Hanalei, grabbed a Coors Banquet tall boy and passed out for the next 10 hours to recover.
Hope you make it back and the conditions are better! It's worth it. I recommend camping at least two nights to give youself more of a rest to enjoy and take everything in. Hike up the valleys to see the waterfalls, which we didn't do. And don't forget your DLNR permit. They sell out months and months in advance.
When I was at Michigan in the early 80s we were so poor we couldn't afford bus fare to get me from Ann Arbor back home to Pittsburgh for Spring Break.
I'd start walking after classes the Friday before Spring Break and would get as far as Clyde, OH before I had to turn around and head back to Ann Arbor to arrive in time for the resumption of classes.

I just returned was in PIaya myseIf hate that u were sick
Leaving Saturday morning for Mauritius.
The school I'm at in France had one week for winter break and is giving us two weeks of spring break before finals. I could probably use both weeks to travel, but instead, I'll use the first one to go to Greece, Portugal, and Germany, and the second one to study.
The skiing is great
Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Spring Break, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time

Visited Zion Nat'l Park for the first time. It far exceeded my expectations. The natural beauty was stunning. Crowds were up due to spring break time period, but nothing like the hordes that apparently visit during the summer. And I hate crowds.

But had to change plans. We're going to be in Grapevine, TX for a few days of BBQ, steaks and beer.
Not technically spring break as our kids aren't in school yet, but to celebrate my 30th birthday, and with baby #3 due to arrive in early August, the MGoHusband and I are taking a few days in early May and heading down to New Orleans without the kiddos. We've never been down there and are excited for a couple days away before we welcome our newest addition! While I'm here, any restaurant or sightseeing recommendations?
Thanks! We decided to rent a car so we could see some things out of town if we wanted and those are great suggestions!

Here's a link to a thread from the lead up to the Sugar Bowl:

The link in the OP takes you to a page with a wealth of info.
I took today and tomorrow off so we could do a few things with the kids on their week off, and indeed last night, we were at a hotel for a short overnight staycation. As they really only need a pool to create trouble, we just took them to a random Quality Inn (Dundee, in this case) but that did give them an opportunity to have a small poolside party with one of their couisins as they live nearby.
Tomorrow, we'll probably hit up a museum or something as they shouldn't be terribly busy and that makes for better viewing anyway.
Wednesday, back to work sadly.
If possible you should take a drive along the Rhine. There are some small towns along the way that are filled with history, quaintness and beauty.
