Dayton Roll Call
Who's gonna be in Dayton tonight? I will be there is section 103 row J seat 1! After 8 years of driving from Dayton to AA for every home football game it is about time that UM come see me. There is a watch party at Milano's on the UD campus for those who cannot get tickets.
My wife's employer got 6 seats weeks ago. I had my wife speak 3 of them for Tuesday and Wednesday games figuring that if we did get in, it would be a play in game.
This one registers as FULL BULLSHIT.
I mean, maybe if you said you got the tickets just because you wanted to go, but the BULLSHIT of "figuring" UM would be in the Play-In Game?
That takes this one to FULL BULLSHIT.

You assumed we would get in via the play-in game weeks ago?
Mmmhmm.
I will not be there, in case anyone was wondering!

The BULLSHIT METER on this post is rising on two levels.
First, you are NOT a Michigan student.
Secondly, you are NOT going to the game.

some it last night. The court set up looks really cool and it appeared to be close to a packed house. Miraculously, they seem to be making this into a semi-respected stand-alone event. Now, if they can just remember not to invite Vanderbilt coming off of two brutal losses they would be all set. (South Carolina should have been in that game).

Dayton has always done a very good job with NCAA tournament games. That's why they were given the Play-In's. it will be done up as a first-class event. We need to play accordingly.

I'll be at Suds Maguire's in Berea. I'll be at one of the high tabletops behond the bar with my UPS driver neighbor. I hope to better my seating by sneaking up to a barstool by halftime.
I'll probably opt for one of the Great Lakes seasonals, although Brooklyn Brewing may come into play

go out drinking for Michigan tournament games. I literally get so nervous that I will start pounding beer, especially draft beers, to the point of (B)olivian.

Is Dayton still on it's 30th year of being under construction?

Yup. We always joke about it driving to Ann Arbor for football games from Cincinnati...it could be 2 AM on a Wednesday, and you'd still have to come to a complete stop right around the Edwin Moses Blvd exit.

This is no joke. I lived in Dayton in the '80's and I-75 through Dayton was always under construction.
I would visit back there periodically, and it was always still under construction.
I have never known it to not be under construction for 35 years.
It has turned into some kind of permanant WPA project.
I turn 50 next week. I frequently say my only goal in life is to outlive the I-75 construction. Don't think I'll live to see it end.

Like you OP, I spent almost 8 years (7) driving from Dayton to AA for football games.
In 1985, the tournament came to me when Michigan played in the NCAA first round in Dayton. But I got lazy and did not go. I always regretted that, even though we lost to eventual National Champion Villanova in the 2nd round at Dayton.
So good on you for going when you get the chance. I recommend it to anybody nearby who can attend.
