SEC looking to block Michigan from holding spring practice in Florida
Greg Sankey is the biggest hypocrite in college football. I can't believe the shit he's spewing in this article What a joke.

There's an upper limit to how effective it would be if everyone suddenly declared open season with the concept. At the end of the day, it is up to the kid how many they want to go to, but if too many of these pop up I can see this quickly getting overwhelming.
Setting the rules up to encourage joint appearances at Satellite camps and other ways to make them a little more efficient is probably in everyone's interests.

Has spring football in the past been setup so the players get spring break off?

Aren't spring practice hours limited? If they are practicing during Spring Break, aren't they getting time off elsewhere then?

Why would you care about how many camps are out there? Kids are not required to attend any camps. If they want to attend more camps it is available, but they don't have to.
Only downside is for the assistant coaches of the college teams that are out hustling during their summer instead of on vacation.

There are too many Starbucks in my neighborhood, but that's no concern of mine.
I'm not required to go to all of them.

Give me a fucking break.
The LAST thing the SEC is worried about is demands on it's athlete's time.
Their posture is an insult to stupid people.
In closing, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

My spring breaks consisted of underage drinking, sleeping 8 people in a four person room (which meant passing out on a box spring if you didn't fall asleep early enough to get the mattress), and all around dumb things. Sign my future kid up for some putt putt with Harbaugh any day.
February 9th, 2016 at 3:16 PM ^
I'm not even mad. This just made my day. My attitude toward Harbaugh is the same I had for Sheed back in the day. Everyone hated him, which only made me love him more. He may be an asshole but he's my asshole.

We all know why the SEC is pissed, and it isn't because Michigan players won't be able to have a week off for spring break. But I will say this:
Read that Harbaugh spoke about the event in such a manner, and I am paraphrasing here, but that there were going to go down there for spring break. Get some football in. Get some fun in (play putt-outt). And that the cool part about it was that a lot of these kids would not get the chance to go somewhere like Florida for spring break. So the whole team gets to go.
Now I think that is awesome. But I am surprised the article didn't pick up on that being some sort of improper benefits. That being said, baseball teams do this every year. Michigan Basketball has been going to Europe ever since the Fab Five. Michigan football has done things like Senior training (boot camp with Navy Seals!) in California. SEC just wanna cry!

“The net of that is to say the Southeastern Conference is not going to be outpaced in recruiting,” Sankey said. “If the national approach is that we want to have more aggressive summer camps and coaches touring around all summer, then we will not only engage in that behavior, we will certainly engage in that behavior more actively -- probably more effectively than others.”
Like the type of behavior that gets kids to commit to Ole Miss where the state flag is the fucking confederate flag, the state is the worst state in the US, and the team sucks ass historically?
Or perhaps the type of behavior Coach Cal participates in where he has vacated wins at his previous two stops?
FUCK THIS GUY.

Harbaugh should press the NCAA to block direct payments to players by universities or bagmen. That'll scare the shit out of the SEC and make them back off a little.

The SEC needs to be a little more concerned about their bagmen taking some time off.

The SEC is absolutely pathetic. The game is already stacked so far in their favor regarding bowl game locations, oversigning rules, ESPN ownership of their network, and bagmen, yet here they are complaining about Harbaugh trying to get a small, perceived advantage. If the NCAA does anything about this, it is going to become really hard to take college football seriously in the future.

Big Ten teams have to design their teams to be able to withstand November weather in the B1G. That means outside. Yet, you'll never see a bowl game, much less a playoff college football game, at Soldier Field or Lambo. Southern teams can design their playbook and teams based on optimal weather throughout the year and never have to concern themselves with cold and snow (rain, yes, but that's a different animal).
Come to Chicago and play Michigan or OSU or MSU in December. See how they handle it. I wish the B1G had the clout to say "we're going to demand an even share in playoff game locations with every other region" and actually have it come to fruition.

the link below is the all-time Florida vs. Kentucky all-time series. Spurrier took over as Florida Head Coach in 1990. Notice anything interesting starting in 1992?
http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/active/f/florida/opponents_records…
A series which had been played for 4 decades in November --- was moved to September. The move occurred right after Spurrier took over as Florida coach. The rumor I've heard for years (I live in Northern Kentucky, who knows, maybe it is bitter Big Blue fans) is that Spurrier requested that, and the SEC complied.
Lexington is not THAT far north --- it is further south than 14 out of 14 B1G schools --- but it is outdoors and it can definitely get chilly in November. If the rumor above is true, that type of weather is too scary for Florida.

Teams go south for Spring Break to practice all the time in a number of sports, and no one has ever cared. The Michigan crew team routinely headed south (went to Tampa when I was on it) for Spring Break practices to be able to row outside instead of being stuck inside on the machines. Other sports do as well.
It's an admittedly brilliant move to hold the practices at IMG, but it's no difference to say you want the football team to practice outside than it is for the crew team to want to be on the water or your baseball team to be outside.
Think @Bry_Mac is spot on the Streisand effect as well (move is (partially) designed to create attention so complaining about it only feeds the fire).
