The kid is just trying to make the best decision for himself, same as Harbaugh is for UM.  Why wouldn't MSU offer a few of our committed recruits and put us on the defensive - don't you think Harbaugh is doing the same thing to them and other programs.  Plus, if you are a committed recruit and you are watching UM's 2016 class fill up, wouldn't you perhaps wonder a little bit if there was actually gonna be a spot for you on NSD?  And, might that make you make sure you had a back up plan?

No, they have every right to take whatever visits they want to before signing the LOI.  It is certainly not wrong to want to make sure that you will spend the next four years of your life at the right place.  People change their minds all the time.

Conversely, do you have an issue with UM flipping recruits from other schools this late in the process?  If that's the case, did you criticize Roy Roundtree (or Karan Higdon for a more recent example) when he backed out last second from his commitment to Purdue?  They sure were not men of their word. /s

Take all of the visits they want and have fun. BEFORE they COMMIT. A commitment is your word and coaches jobs and livelihoods are dependent on all of this. Don't Fucking commit. It's that simple. The whole recruiting game has devolved into a giant fiasco because it's become PC to justify these kids not honoring their word. The adults should be telling these recruits to hold off on committing until they have taken all of the visits and are prepared to honor their word. When did going back on your word become so acceptable? And yes, the recruits Michigan is trying to flip fall into this category also.

By that token, then UM should not recruit any committed prospects ever.  They haven't signed and delivered a LOI, and it's not illegal or even immoral to change your mind.

Also, coaches are paid handsomely to deal with the recruiting process.  Coaches can also leave a school without transfer restrictions any time they want to unless they have some crazy buyout clause (which doesn't necessarily restrict other schools anyways).  They are honestly one of the last ones I feel sorry for.

that you, and so many like you can get so worked up over another person's choice which has nothing to do with you nor any berring on your life. Butt out. You're acting like a five year old child who's had his toy taken away. he has till the 3rd to sign on the dotted line. Until that point it's none of your f****** business what he does.

Must have missed the part where I said the adults should set an example for these kids and direct them to enjoy the process and take their time before committing. I personally do not care about where any recruit attends school, my issue is with the proliferation of commiting and then taking visits. If you intend to take visits then you have not completed your due diligence so hold off on commiting until said time when you are sure enough to give your word. What does commitment mean? What's the point in commiting if it really means nothing? I understand that this is what the recruiting game has devolved into but I still wish it wasn't the case. In an ideal situation these guys would value that their word means something. Whats so bad about expecting these young men to take their time and not commiting until they are certain?

the stress and pain of his commits taking official visits, then he would establish a no-fly zone once committed, much like Hoke did his first year here. But since Harbaugh doesn't seem to mind these kids taking officials after they commit, why should you?

February 4th is the marriage signing date.

Up until then it is just a verbal engagement. (except for early enrollees who already signed).

.....I wish you plenty of success no matter where you go.

But, in the end, if you want to be part of something extra special, you want to be a part of this Uof M recruiting class.

You guys should relax a little, having two top 10 college football programs in Michigan is a good thing, especially because it gives our high schoolers great opportunities.

Maybe he decides to go to MSU to be closer to his "boys" which is the same reasoning we are using to entice Gary so........... who cares?

No matter who the 28-30 (or more!) recruits are, this is going to be a great class to watch develop because, under Harbaugh, they will develop.

Well that's not saying much since "11 of us" includes Brandon Graham, Vincent Smith, and a SexKoala. I mean, I'm sure we could fill a pretty decent team even without Harbaugh. That being said.... I agree with the overall theme of your post.

Anybody else as confused as I am?

This guy is the number 1 player in the state of Michigan, a top 100 player in the country, and a top 5 player at his position, and MSU doesn't offer him until 2 weeks before signing day? How is that possible?

What signs are those?  He is taking an official visit to a school in state, he will get to go to a big basketball game because of it.  He also visited MSU for their football game with Oregon.

The Rivals mods are saying he's just enjoying the process.  The only thing that gives me pause is that his sister goes to school there and he's pretty tight with Corley and Vance.

I also can't figure out why MSU didn't offer him until now, but maybe it was to get him on campus.  Is he a threat to flip?  Sure, but there is still nothing to suggest it's likely.

I'd be very disturbed if he flipped. Stranger things have happened and although I hate douche-Tonio and MSU u can't argue with their recent results.
