Meta: Mods, can we ban any new threads about the MSU game? Please.

Submitted by RakeFight on

Pretty please.

There are no less than FIFTY-EIGHT threads currently posted on every facet of the game.

How about a daily Snowflake thread?

Yes. A thousand times yes. The venting time is over, I think. I can guarantee everyone that the staff and team have already moved on to Minnesota. They're watching game tape on those silly gophers.

It's a huge rivalry game, and (unfortunately for us) one of if not the most memorable games in the history of the rivalry, with an ending that will be talked about by even the most casual of college football fans for decades. You don't stop talking about it on Monday afternoon just because it would feel better to "move on."

I'm all for the mods deleting threads that simply whine about things that didn't really matter, like the thread just before this, about MSU supposedly being lined up in the neutral zone before the fatal last snap. (Doesn't look like it to me from the pic, IMO.)  Let's be honest, that didn't really affect the result of the play, so it's pointless to discuss it. But people should be allowed to start threads that discuss non-whining, interesting aspects of the game in a reasonable way. Good grief.

Could at least have 1 dedicated thread each day about the game, similar to the day-of snowflake threads, to minimize all the new things that pop up.

I'd also support the OT hold given it's a bye week

We talked about the national title game for at least a month after the debacle with the block among other things. This one will be talked about for awhile with the missed targeting, missed reviews, missed call on the final play etc. I want to move on but it's going to be talked about.

We wait all year for the season to watch and discuss actual football. It is the primary point of this blog. If you don't want to read it don't click on the posts. Or better yet just stay off the blog until next week. What happened sucks bit it is still an escape from real life problems for many of us on the blog.

Ugh seriously. Everyone on this blog thinks their insights are absolutely crucial and their hot take of the situation is essential, but we are just rehashing the same shit over and over again. It happened. It sucked. Move on.

I'll speak on this, and take it for what you will...

Admittedly, there was a controlled burn done after the game, a method we sort of began using in 2014 when the flames were usualy difficult to stop after games. That, and it was difficult to even get onto the site in the immediate aftermath. Actually, letting people do that - within reason - in the wake of the game makes things much easier later...usually.

Since then, there has been background cleanup of overlapping discussions, removal of extra-super-emo stuff and other reductions, a non-comprehensive list of which appears in the sticky.

I'll probably go through again later this evening, but while meaningful discussion of a play or a series or something along those lines is always fine, threads which are like five, ten....fifteen other threads before it are not long for this world. If you feel we've missed one, mention it in the sticky or find me on Twitter if you use Twitter.

You guys think you have problems? I've somehow gotten on the Michigan State Athletics email list so you can only imagine the kind of Sparty propaganda I've been fielding this weekend. I've tried to unsubscribe many times but instead of fewer emails, I just get put on more lists. (/s sort of but not really)

The OP for actually taking the time to count all the way to 58 the number of threads he wants to ignore(but apparently can't),

or ME - for reading his post.

Me I guess.

They may clear up the site post game, but they make the board post game a lot less entertaining. Those two or three hours of seeing tons of new posts on the board were pretty interesting. Now, even after a controversial game, the only news on the board is Snowflakes: Coaching, Snowflakes: Offense, Snowflakes: Defense. I get that for efficiency. But people come here to talk Michigan football more than any other sport. Might as well step away if reading it is too much for you.

Get off your high horse.  It's the Monday after one of the most significant plays in Michigan history.  Of course people are going to talk about it.  There may even be some *gasp* redundancy.  How will you ever survive until Tuesday?

Yeah, it's been played out.  Start a thread if there is something substantive; repeating "were they lined up in the neutral zone" or "player X should have done Y" probably aren't needed anymore.

If you don't want to read a thread on the game, just don't click on it. I don't care to revisit some aspects of the game, but to prohibit anyone from discussing it is too much. We just played an important game and have a bye week now. I don't think we have two weeks' worth of Minnesota topics to discuss.

I just read the tweet out to watts-jackson from jourdon lewis, very classy and prototypical Michigan Man. I am impressed with Mr. Lewis to use that format to "shout-out" to the injured opposing team player. Draymond Green and leveon bell should take lessons from this classy move, i.e. grow up and be respectful.

That's how it works. Every week. We play a game. We come on here. We talk about said game. If you don't want to see stuff about the game we just played then PERHAPS mgoblog isn't the website for you this week...
