Graham Glasgow and His New Roommate

Submitted by Ma1zeandB1ue on

Graham Glasgow made some poor decisions with alcohol and is paying the piper for it, but not in the way you would expect.  Instead of suspension or other conventional methods of punishment, Harbaugh made him move in with his Grandma.

The legend of Harbaugh continues.

has had his own struggles and knows what its like to be a star/starter at michigan and a pro and the distractions that come with it. i am sure he could sympathize and frame next steps easily. what a great story

Harbaugh had a DUI in 2005.  So he understands as well as anyone how easy it is to screw up.   Probably also knows that just giving a repeat offender a generic punishment isn't enough to "fix" the isuse.

Worked for Josh Hamilton (until his recent relapse) when he hit his rock bottom with alcohol and crack.  If I remember correctly, she slapped him around a bit one night and gave him an ultimatum and he began to sober up.

Not to get too deep on a Friday morning, but Gma is dead on right here:

“I’m an 81-year-old co-ed,” she said laughing. “I’m the only old lady on the elevator in the building. But this is a win-win for everybody. You know what I’m getting out of this? I see a lot of kids trying to find their way. They don’t know how they fit in yet. These are kids and, really, do we all know how we fit in yet?"

growing up was having 3 out 4 grandparents alive, active, and involved in my life on a regular basis, all the way through graduation in college (and 2 out of 4 all the way through getting married). Grandparents are a great resource as they can provide a lot of the love & support, but also can give you the kick in the ass you need without lording over/micromanaging like parents do sometimes. I was initially pretty pissed at Glasgow for his bad decisions earlier this year that almost cost him a dream opportunity, but after this article, I'm happy for him and hope he can continue his recovery and development.

Plus as a lineman, you think he's eating bad with an Italian grandma cooking for him everynight? Graham needs to invite Drake Harris over for dinner weekly pronto!

Go G'mas!

I am/was close to my grandparents as well. Both of my Dad's parents passed away while I was in college at 90 and 91 respectively so I had a lot of years with them. My Grandpa came to every single one of my baseball and football games as a kid and I spent hours and hours fishing with him and my Dad.

My other grandparents are still around (92/90) and they're the best. It's been cool having my own daughter spend time with her great grandparents, too except for that time when Great Grandma introduced her to M&M's.

I hope he realizes how lucky he is.

An Italian grandmother?  I can only imagine how well that young man eats.

The good thing is he can learn from the best.

Enjoy la cocina italiana while it lasts young man.

Wasn't there something in there about her cooking for other guys on the team too?  Just imagine how much pasta and bread 7 or 8 linemen put down.

A battle for the ages - an 81 year old Italian woman's ability to cook pasta v. the ability of a group of college linemen to eat it.

This rather inconspicuous post got myself a tad weepy eyed when I read it.  Glasgow's g'ma sounds an awful lot like mine, funny and fits in with almost any crowd.  We just lost her on Tuesday to cancer at the age of 91.  I came back to MI (I live in MT) a couple summers ago and went to visit G'ma B at the home she was staying in.  As I was wheeling her around in her wheelchair, I was telling the other older folks staying in the home "Excuse me, coming thru".  G'ma B true to form told me, "Just run em over, they'll move outta the way..."  I asked her physical therapist how she was doing and he replied "Honestly, she's a firecracker and kind of a pain in the ass, but I love her".  Yes PT guy, she certainly was and we will all miss her for that.  Even at 89 years old at the time, she never ceased to make me smile and laugh my ass off.  She was the epitome of "attacking life with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind" Harbaugh would of loved her if he met her.  Thanks for giving me a forum to tell stories and smile about G'ma B.  Have an amazing weekend everyone, GO BLUE!!!

that worked for a video game company, once moved in with his Grandma. He partied SO hard and made his own game called Demonik. He basically smoked weed all the time and she watched Antiques Road Show when they didn't party all night. Jonah Hill was there, too. I think he eventually moved out with this 'Samantha' woman he met at his work but I'm not sure. /please.Sitonmyfaaaace
