I agree with you on the talent up front.  The USMNT is light years away from having three world class players like Lukaku, Hazard and De Bruyne.  I certainly wouldn't expect the USMNT to make anything close to a run to third place in Qatar in 2022.  I even think emulating Croatia will be hard given that we don't have a dominant on ball player in the mold of Modric, or even wingers on the outside like Perisic and Rebic.  I think with five in the back we can get back to finishing top two in CONCACAF and maybe make a run at the quarter finals in 2022.

First of all, thanks for the awesome write-ups about the USMNT!

I think we might be better served in a 5-3-1-1 or 5-3-2 where the second striker plays off the shoulder of the guy up front.  With all the speed on the outside at wingback and outside mid I think we could stay solid defensively and counter the hell out of other teams.

         Robinson                                                                                                        Yedlin

Just a guess on the names, but the formation isn't bad.  Hoping that maybe we can emulate how Belgium played at this past WC with the formation (obviously not quite as talented).

First off: Hey Drew, awesome to hear that you read the blog!

Nice to see a small city like Saginaw putting so many players on this team and honorable mentions.  Woodley and Sword on the actual team.  Peoples, Cole, Manning and Jackson in the honorable mentions.  My big bro went to Arthur Hill with Sword and Peoples and said that they were ridiculously good (along with Brian Pruitt, who played RB at CMU)!  I went to Heritage and personally got to see Woodley, Manning and Jackson all play.  Those Saginaw High teams were ridiculous.  Surprisingly Heritage had a close game with them when I was a Sophomore and Stu Schweigert was our QB (went to Purdue, played safety).  My lil bros went to school with Cole at Heritage and said that he would just out-athlete everybody on the field.  I'll always be a lil bummed out that he didn't pan out at Michigan, would be cool to see a kid from my school play and contribute at Michigan.

Also, as far as Wood is concerned, he's a year younger than me and we have some mutual friends.  Used to hang with him a lil bit in high school; you can't run into a nicer guy, with a bigger smile than Wood.  Just opened a school similar to Jalen Rose's in Saginaw, I hope its just as successful as Jalen's is!  Anyways, awesome write up Seth, keep it up!

Also Maria Elena's bakery, which used to be in Carrollton, but I think its in the Township now...???  That place had the best pork carnitas, my mom used to buy a few pounds after church on Sunday and we'd munch on it all day.  God I miss that place, all of their food was amazing!

I smoke mine until 205* then cover it with foil for 60 min before shredding it.  Also you just have to smoke a couple onions and peppers for the hour that the pork is resting.  Sooooooo good

The highways and local roadways tend to be spotless in Montana.  I think that the people that live here take pride in keeping Montana the most beautiful state in the USA.  If people weren't slobs and lazy assholes, the roads would be much cleaner!

The incessant bitching that happens about everything on this blog is really what I'm tired of.  I mean, honestly, I might spend 20-30 minutes max reading content a day (especially in the summer, where there's less content).  My two cents, there are a lot of whiny bitches on here, get over it!

07/02/2018 - 5:13pm I've lived in Bozeman,…

I've lived in Bozeman, Montana for the past 12 years

* being outdoors: hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, camping, lots of stuff to do outdoors

* college town feel: kinda reminds me of a much smaller Ann Arbor

* people are super nice and for the most part are very pleasant

* growing very fast: new buildings everywhere, this is important to me because I'm a construction sub contractor and that equals money to me

* cost of living is really high, especially for a city of around 50,000 people

* winters can be long: it starts snowing in late October and doesn't melt until mid April

* not that many golf courses locally

Its hard to think of cons, Bozeman is a great place, so happy I found it in my early 20s!

03/31/2018 - 10:49am Moved to MT 12 years ago

I moved to Bozeman, MT from Saginaw, MI 12 years ago, it was the best decision I've ever made.  If you find yourself around the Bozeman area when you make it to Montana I'd love to show you around or at least put down a couple whiskeys with you umbig11!  Thanks for all of your content and insider insight into the program, we all really appreciate it!

03/25/2018 - 3:05pm Delta College

As a proud member of the Delta College family (I paid for one semester of classes and rarely attended) I say Go Pioneers, or as the locals call them The Delta "Difference"!

Only upvoted for the nice avatar, Go Blue!!!

03/23/2018 - 9:37am I had a feeling

I had a feeling about this team after the BTT.  Bought a bottle of Balvenie 21 year just in case we did something special.  Oh how effing awesome that scotch is gonna taste when I crack it open after a big win on Monday, April 2.

03/18/2018 - 5:06pm Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that wanted to punch his lil bro in the face everytime they showed him on TV???  Before the inbounds pass I told my buddy Mike "I want them to get a close up of that effing kid crying when Michigan hits the GW three"

03/18/2018 - 5:01pm Helena, MT

I was in a bar that I've never been to in Helena, MT partying with friends watching this game.  Pretty sure I was the only one having a rooting interest in the game.  After a couple hours of bitching at the the tv and pacing around the "Valley Hub' in Helena Poole hit that shot.  I ran two laps around the large table we were seated at (around 12 of us total), kissed some guy's girlfriend on the cheek (he was a great sport about it) and yelled my ass off for like 5 minutes.  I immediately called my big bro whose a huge Michigan fan as well and we laughed and cried a lil bit on the phone together...  I went to buy a round of shots for our table and the bartender comped them and told me "I don't root for any college teams but GO BLUE!"   I'm still on a high from last night, what a shot!

03/04/2018 - 11:28am SpartyJon

Thanks for not running away from your prediction.  I have a family full of Sparty fans and our trash talk never stops.  My lil bro Matt and I talk trash the most, but on game days our talk centers around the game and whats happening.  You're honest in your assessment of the game.  Izzo got out coached and Michigan shut MSU down in the second half.  I think MSU can go far in the NCAA tourney, they can D up and rebound with anybody.  Thank you for not being a TOTAL troll and coming back to MGoBlog to take your lumps.  Go Blue, lets take Purdon't out today and celebrate another Big Ten Tourney TItle!!!

03/04/2018 - 11:19am OSU and PSU

Both have six in the finals, I'm not quite sure on the math, but I'm pretty sure Michigan can't take first or second no matter what.  OSU and PSU are the top two teams in the nation tho, and I think that Michigan has a good chance of taking 3rd at the NCAAs, which is way ahead of where we were finishing for years and years.  Our recruiting has improved immmensely the last couple of years and our facilities are top notch!  I look forward to competing for national titles in the near future!!!

Missouri St. is a D1 level basketball program!  Actually they've made the NCAA tourney a few times recently.  Must not follow 'crootin very well...

03/03/2018 - 10:43am You stole my avatar

My fav play in the history of Michigan football, Go Blue!!!

01/31/2018 - 7:38pm Yes that last lil bit brought back emotions to me too

I lost my father suddenly from a heart attack at 16 in 2000.  I found out on 10 pm Friday night and had a varsity high school soccer game the next day at noon.  Told my coach and team right before the game started what happened.  We were playing Troy Athens, #1 in the state that year.  I played left fullback and scored 2 goals that day (I MIGHT have scored a handful total that whole year).  We won the game 3-2 and I have never performed as well athletically as I did that day.  It was a surreal, almost out of body experience.  I remember being absolutely exhausted immediately after the game, so many emotions for a 16 kid to go through.  Not sure I believe in God, but there was something else at work that day that I cannot explain to this day almost 18 years later.  I know, "cool story bro", but good luck Ian.  As with any transfers out of the program I wish you the best in the future, you'll always be a Wolverine!

12/27/2017 - 8:19pm Decanter and glass set

My brother and sister-in-law bought me an engraved crystal glass decanter and rocks glass set, the decanter was filled with Noah's Mill bourbon.  They always give me the best gifts, it was very thoughtful and it is gorgeous!

12/27/2017 - 8:17pm Traeger

Get ready to be grilling/smoking at every possible moment that you can.  Buying a Traeger was maybe the best spent $1000 I ever spent!  Enjoy it my friend.

09/05/2017 - 9:10pm Winovich quote

"We don't even use brakes, we're all gas."

Pardon my french, but I fucking love this Michigan defense and their attitude.  Gotta admit I was a little bit nervous before the game on Saturday, but our defense was lights out.  Can't wait for the offense to catch up a little bit.  Go Blue!!!

09/02/2017 - 11:02am Blue Wins

08/05/2017 - 7:19pm Just talked to Nike

The official response was "as per checking our inventory and our release dates, there are no official release dates of that specific colorway."  So if you can't find them, this is probably why.  I'll keep checking, and let you guys know when these drop!

08/05/2017 - 7:10pm Can't find them

I'm on and I can't find these anywhere!  I bought the Jordan Trainers in Michigan's colors last year (the one's with the animal like print that the primary color was blue) and they were sick.  I got so many compliments on them, was just rocking them today actually.  Hopefully I can order these soon...

07/21/2017 - 7:56pm Katie Nolan

She is cute AF, I have a total crush on her...

07/21/2017 - 7:53pm Cactus Jack is back!!!

07/07/2017 - 7:52pm Bourbon, always bourbon

Now that I've done my Friday evening ritual of looking over the drinking thread responses, I will pour myself some Noahs Mill bourbon.  Happy Friday everyone cheers!

07/07/2017 - 7:47pm Love POS BANGING

I'm not too late for the BANGing am I?  As always my old buddy Cactus Jack says it best "BANG BANG!"

07/07/2017 - 7:28pm Buffalo Trace Distillery

They make a bunch of pretty legit bourbons.  I like Buff Trace, and of course love all of the varieties of Pappy.  If you can find some Col EH Taylor Small Batch, get some.  Its around a $50, but its an awesome value.  Some of my other favs include;  Eagle Rare, Noahs Mill, Blantons, Basil Haydens.  If you can find any George T Stagg, any of the Blood Oath series and any of the Orphan Barrel series, pick them up, they're usually pretty hard to find.

06/16/2017 - 8:07pm Nice

I'm not a huge fan of Angels Envy (a little too sweet for me), but MacAllen 15 is amazing.  My roommate collects single malt scotch and I collect bourbon, so our combinded collection is pretty awesome.  The MacAllen 12 french oak cask (in blue bottle) is great too for a bottle under $100!

06/16/2017 - 8:03pm Collecting Bourbon

Collecting bourbon is tough nowadays.  I used to work at a liquor store here in Bozeman, MT when I was going to school.  I was able to get my hands on some pretty sweet bottles of bourbon: George T Stagg, Stagg Jr., Pappy 10, Pappy 12, Blood Oath Pact #2, Blood Oath Pact #3, most of the Orphan Barrel collection, Weller 12 yr., Eagle Rare 17, Rock Hill Farms.  Those are just the ones I can think of off of the top of my head.  Hard to find now, have buddies looking all across the country constantly.  Maybe we should start a MGoBourbon Club and see who can get a hold of some of these rare bottles and maybe send some back and forth...???

06/15/2017 - 8:07pm I have no wife or kids

So I'm always getting lit with my dogs; Sammie (old black lab mix) and Ash (one year old Rottweiler pup).  Ash is currently help me work out by doing Rottie curls with a rope in my left hand and drinking bourbon in my other hand.  Gotta switch hands every couple minutes because a 100 lbs Rottie pup gives you a good pump when you curl them!

06/15/2017 - 7:53pm Bourbon

Drinking bourbon, as per usual.  Went with some Weller 12 year to start off with.  Just received the J Riddle "Peated Bourbon Whiskey" from Detroit yesterday in the mail.  Thought it was an interesting take on bourbon.  Started off smoky like a nice scotch and had a little bit of bourbon heat at the end.  Not too bad from a Michigan distillery, but as always the best stuff comes from Kentucky!  Anyone else have any really special bourbons lately?  I have about a quarter of a bottle of Blade and Bow left, I can't find it anywhere...  Its outstanding pick up any bottles that you might run into, because as far as I can tell its super hard to find!  Happy Drinking my MGoBrethren!

04/28/2017 - 5:00pm Fisher

04/12/2017 - 12:33am Yost

I went to around 10 games at Yost in the late 90s and early 2000s (my middle-high school years).  I will say without a doubt that Yost is the best live sports environment I've ever been in.  The intimacy, the indimidating nature, the quirky fans...  I loved every second I spent there in that time.  Thank you Red, you hooked me as a M hockey fan in 1997 as a high school freshman and I've been a M hockey nerd ever since.   Lets bring back some of the magic from those day, hope we hit THE home run hire.

Go Blue

Thank You Red

03/28/2017 - 9:21pm Family full of Sparties...

Literally my whole family is full of Sparty fans, besides my older brother and myself.  So I guess I followed my big bro's lead and rooted for the boys in Blue.  What really got me was the Fab Five.  I was 8-9 years old and just becoming a sports nut at the time.  I cried myself to sleep the night that they lost Duke in 1992.  A love for Michigan football and hockey soon followed and I've watched every basketball/football/hockey game that I've been able since.  I've also followed the wrestling team very closely, mostly cause I wrestled in school growing up and I think that Michigan is a potential top 5 program perenially in the nation.  Go Blue, love the content and all of the personalities I get to see everyday on MGoBlog!

03/19/2017 - 4:50pm Translation Needed

How the hell do you say "BANG BANG" in German???

03/12/2017 - 6:48pm Not enough scrubbing

Watching fuckhead Hollis talk about "scrubbing", obviously they didn't have the sense to scrub Michigan to a 6 or 5 seed.  Minnesota is toast in first round as a 5 seed!

03/11/2017 - 8:36pm Col Taylor Small Batch

Bout to finish one then open another bottle of Col Taylor Small Batch Bourbon.

67-61 Blue for the BTT ship tomorrow, heading for a 5 seed!

03/11/2017 - 7:32pm Give this kid a biscuit

And maybe some shrimp scampi.  Looking like the lineup is gonna need somebody to step up at 125 with Youtsey graduating.  Can challenge for a Big Ten/National title with the potential lineup next year.

03/11/2017 - 3:36pm Smokes, Pancakes, Biscuits, Bangin

A Smoke and a pancake?

A Biscuit and a bang?

BTT finals tomorrow, Go Blue!!!

03/11/2017 - 12:34pm Gunners fielding a strong XI today

No EPL game this week so it makes sense. Hope Gunners can get one or two early to shake off all the bad juju from the past few weeks COYG!
