Jim Harbaugh compared to "a shot of Jack followed by a blast of cocaine" in Psychology Today
Interesting read in Psychology Today that attempts to explain the nationwide infatuation with the Harbaugh hire.

In terms of neurochemicals, we can think of dopamine as a shot of JD, adrenaline as a blast of cocaine taken immediately after the shot of Jack, and the brain as someone that is not quite back from Woodstock yet. That is why we love an underdog and a long shot (the longer the better) because underdogs produce larger neurochemical rewards.[25-31] Harbaugh coming to Michigan was a mother lode of variable reinforcement, rich with dopamine and adrenaline for the brain.

Cocaine could explain all of Harbaugh's energy. /s

He kept saying, "Plant your right foot and throw. Plant your right foot and throw."

I like this quote better:
"Plus, his behavior epitomizes courage, high moral standards, solid work ethics and virtue."

Your comment just made me realize that a Three Wise Men drink is Johnny Walker, Jim Beam, and Jack. I suggest that this be renamed the Harbaugh in honor of the three great coaches.

Since when did we start using "our selves" rather than "ourselves"?

I noticed that too. There's actually quite a few typos for being written by someone with a PhD. Maybe he was trying out his own theory while he wrote this piece.

Actually if you Google the author, you will see that he is a Michigan grad who has had, and is still having, a very interesting life. That being said, the publication should have an editor with at least high school grammar proficiency you would think.

Let's not give our high schools too much credit, now. Grammar is basically a thing of the past. In my current high school, the only place where they do any grammar at all is foreign language classes and one AP English class (the composition one). It's sad.

Truth. The ACT writing section prep books explain that as long as you use decent grammar, force in a couple large words, and make up some famous quote, you'll get a perfect score on your writing section. The takeaway, imo, is that so few 11th graders know elementary grammar that it quickly teases out that you're a 95+ percentile student. Nuts.

...our selves.

Nope. Proper grammar for what you are describing would be "our own selves", or even "one's self"(oneself being used reflexively like ourselves as you stated). But let's not dwell on that and enjoy this cocaine posbang instead.
