Suggest a Sporting Event for the Big House
Back in my day, the only non-Michigan-football sporting event I can remember at the Big House was the first Slippery Rock game in 1979 or so. Aside from that, it was only used for graduation and Michigan games.
Things are a bit better now, what with the Big Chill and Winter Classic hockey games, soccer matches and lacrosse games being played there, along with the occasional 5K run, etc.
We have the coolest venue in the state, though, so it's time we gave Hackett some more suggestions for the Big House - not just to monetize it, but to give us some cool sporting events to attend while we wait for football.
So, what sporting event would YOU bring to the Big House?
My suggestion is an NBA Alumni doubleheader. In the marquee game, we have Michigan's NBA alumi taking on Duke's NBA alumni. In the first game, we have Michigan State's alumni playing Kentucky's alumni. Each winning team gets a million dollars in scholarship money for their school.
Beilein coaches the Michigan alums and Coach K coaches the Duke alums. "Trey Burke dishes to Jamal Crawford for the inside jam!"

we just played with a group of 9-10 year olds for my son's birthday, and it was pretty awesome
Putting a soccer game in there was a tight fit--they had to raise the field several rows up to get a big enough pitch size. That cuts into both the bottom line and the available seating. And as we've seen it's not a good venue for hockey or basketball, since the gentle slope on top of the large playing surface quickly puts over half of the seats in a bad view.
How about the Cornhole championships?

Am I the only one who thinks the only event at the Big House should be something affiliated with the university? Football and lacrosse (or whatever other school sport they want to play there) and graduations. I don't want to see it become just some venue for crap like concerts or Globetrotters "games."
They can play it right on the turf!

If you had graduated ten years earlier you would've seen Michigan club rugby games directly after the football games. It was pretty cool but nobody watching knew the rules, including me.

If they ever had enough balls to have an outdoor Super Bowl in a cold weather climate city...They had one in NY but it is more temperate being on the coast. No telling how cold A2 would be in early Feb., but it'd be pretty awesome.

A women's football game before the men's game. They would play a women's team from the same university the men's team is playing. Which would likely require making women's football an official AD sport, or at least an intramural one. Which would be great.
Why should the south and west get all the fun (and advantage?)
Get some major sponsorship and make it a semi-major bowl. I'd love to see SEC, ACC or PAC12 teams play in Michigan Stadium in December or January VS the B1G!
