OT: Best hambuger in Michigan
My top 10...many of which I've had multiple times.
1. Stellas: Grand Rapids
2. Frita Batidas: A2 (technically not a buger, but a frita)
3. Hunter House: A2/B'Ham
4. Broadway Bar: Grand Rapids
5. Franks: Zeeland
6. Bubbas: Traverse City
7. Lauras Little Burger Joint: Decatur
8. Millers: Dearborn
9. B Spot: Royal Oak
10. Rays: Grand Haven
Hon Mention: Northside Bar in Manistee, Redamaks in New Buffalo, Choo Choo Grill in GR
Side Note: Best buger I've ever had was at Holstein's in Vegas...but its not in Michigan.
What am I missing?
I'd also add that the burgers at Farmers Home Tavern in Hemlock are great. They typically get the "Best Burgers in the Saginaw Area" honor every year.

Love their burgers! If we are repping Flint, we should throw in Halo Burger for honorable mention. It's the best of the fast food burgers.
Cozy Inn, Nestoria, MI -- located on US41 just west of Three Lakes. Mmmm .... good!
Oh, and the Drive In in Baraga has the best Pizza Burger. It's made with Cudighi, stuffed with moz and sauce.
for a week. Most of what we eat is made in camp, but when we go out I typically stick to pasties and smoked chubs and whitefish. I'll have to try the Cozy Inn's burger!

My grandparents lived a few miles from the Cozy Inn. I never, ever, ever in my wildest dreams thought I would see Nestoria, Three Lakes, and Cudighi discussed on MGoBlog. You just made my day.
Casey's Tavern easily has the best burger in Ann Arbor. I'm not sure about the rest of Michigan
Top 2 in Michigan:
1. Frita Batidos
2. Stella's
Best burger I've ever had:
1. Bison burger from Wicked Weed Brewing in Asheville, NC.
I was a big fan of Great Plains Burger Co off of North Campus. It might not be the best in Michigan (how do you even judge that?) but it was my favorite burger in Ann Arbor for sure. They also have amazing fries and shakes.
in Monroe, but Larson's burgers are very good...
Some others on my list... Redcoat Tavern, Ray's in Reading, MI, and Sidetrack's in Ypsi that I just tried last week for the first time. Nemo's burgers are outstanding when cooked on the flat top behind the bar. Love their hot mustard. Casey's is the best I've had in A2.
Some formerly on my list... The Charlie Brown from the first and original Diamond Jim Brady's on 7 Mile which no longer exists and Spike's in Grayling which just isn't quite as good as it once was.
Miller's is good but overated. Hunter House is bad and overated, but has excellent hashbrowns.
Station Grill in Muskegon is amazing.

The Monster Burger with cheese from the Dairy Barn in Sebewaing tops my list.
The Wrought Iron Grill, in Owosso makes a good burger.
A bit "divey", but the Rainbow up in Owosso makes a great burger, too.

The Phoenix at Goog's is incredible.
In New Buffalo. Oh so good.
What makes a burger the best? There is a time for a Hunter House burger and a time for Redcoat burger. But, they are much, much different.
I think it depends on the mood. Like beers, burgers come in a variety of categories.
How about a "simple, delicious burger" category and a "gourmet burger" category?
Klima makes a good point. I prefer smaller burgers that are not gut-bombs, but others prefer the larger gourmet burgers.
The best burger I've eaten was at Sportsman's in Grand Marais, MI. Had just finished a 3 day backpacking trek through Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore living off of tuna, hunter's sausage, granola bars, and trail mix. The fries were the best I've ever had too.
Traditional Cheesburger, very good
Some people like thick half pound patties, some like a collection of thin patties. Some people like theirs grilled over an open flame, some like them sauteed on a flat-top. With the thick half-pounders, one can cook the meat to certain temps, while thin patties will always be well-done. (Please do not confuse this with charred or burnt.)
With respect to the thick half-pound type (my personal preference), only a handful used to be able to claim "best," as they used ground beef purchased from Knight's Market. Now about two dozen establishments use Knight's products.
So it seems to imply that Knight's steakhouses (original on Dexter Rd. and new downtown location on E. Liberty/Maynard) would have the best. But, you can go to Knight's Market on Miller/Spring and purchase the meat either in bulk or formed into patties and grill them at home as you like.
To me, the key is quality meat, fresh toppings, and soft buns (unless you like toasted).
2. Sidetrack's
3. Grizzly Peak
4. Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger
Best burgers Ive had in Michigan in no particular order:
Ravens Club
Savas
Zola Bistro
Freakin Unbelievable Burgers (Flint, MI)
West Pier Drive-In (Sault Ste. Marie)
