Severely underrating the 5 minutes of 3-on-3 overtime they've added to the NHL.  I wish they'd can the shootout, and just go 3-on-3 until someone scores (or re-institute ties).  There's no way it would last more than about 10 minutes.

02/05/2019 - 12:46am Been years since I played…

Been years since I played many games (played a lot in the Half-Life, StarCraft, System Shock era, Wii and Xbox 360 eras)

Picked up a new PC this fall, and started playing Hollow Knight.

Hollow Knight is now my favourite game of all time.

I believe I'' ather see almost any ad on the internet over the hairy naked hoodie or the meat shirt ads.  I don't know how I would react if I ever meet someone wearing one of those.

11/20/2018 - 9:54am In the first half, Rutgers…

In the first half, Rutgers had 6 offensive rebounds, 5 three pointers, 4 steals and 2 blocks.

So, they had a first half Offensive Rebound Rutger and a first half Three Pointer Rutger.

EMU had 9 offensive rebounds and 6 steals, though, so they Rutger'd themselves.

Heh - It's funny hearing about The Knowledge and the The Mathlete on every Matt Demorest / HomeSure Lending advertisement, when I haven't either post in a very long time?  They did update the ad to include much more inspired "Go Blue!"s from the kids.  Will next years ad read include Wolverine Devotee and umbig11 mentions?

11/16/2018 - 3:22pm I thought Syracuse was going…

I thought Syracuse was going to pull off the upset against Clemson earlier this year - that was until Etienne had consecutive carries of 17 yards and 26 yards for one TD, and then started the next drive with another 14 yard carry.  Syracuse had Clemson down to a 4th and 6 with 2:38 to go, but couldn't hold on.  Of course, Trevor Lawrence missed much of that game.

I don't think 'Cuse has what it takes, but I would love to see the upset.  I would also love to see Kentucky go down against Middle Tennessee or  Texas A&M go down to UAB.

Anyone else tired of seeing this ridiculous meat shirt advertisement on mgoblog?  I've informed Google that I do not wish to see this ad at least 50 times, but they really must believe I'll eventually change my mind and purchase it...

I'm not sure if it'll solve your particular problem - that sounds terrible - but I learned long ago to manually change the settings for every single sporting event that I record on the DVR to record an extra 3 hours.

11/11/2018 - 5:32pm For crying out loud.  How…

For crying out loud.  How many FS1 games can we have in one season?  Last year, it felt like most of the games were on ABC.  Now the team is top 4 in the country, and almost every game is on a janky network.

There is no legal way to watch FS1 in Canada.  The advent of the PVR has allowed me to watch every minute of Michigan football this year, without causing undue family over disappearing for half the day to watch a stream that will probably cut out and stutter for at least 20 minutes of the game.

Never mind the fact that BTN, Fox and FS1 have no respect for their viewers, or those at the game, with their endless parade of commercials.  Screw you Delaney! ( Or whoever was responsible for the Fox contract this year)

11/09/2018 - 4:21pm I still maintain the…

I still maintain the interception Rutger is in play.  In 2016, Michigan held Rutgers to 2 receptions and 5 total yards receiving. Michigan has held their last 3 (ranked) opponents, Penn State, Michigan State and Wisconsin to 8, 7 and 7 receptions, respectively.

In 2018, Rutgers threw 5 interceptions to Maryland, and had only 2 completions.  Rutgers will suffer many, many sacks and TFL. It is possible that Rutgers will not complete a pass for the entire game.

Michigan may finish the game with more interceptions than Rutgers has total yards of offence.

Rutgers just had one of the worst passing games of all time

KEY MATCHUP: NO.

I literally laughed out loud for a full minute.

11/09/2018 - 9:31am NC State was the pick that…

NC State was the pick that stuck out like a sore thumb as soon as the rankings were announced.  I glanced at their schedule and saw that they had wins over James Madison, Georgia State, Marshall, Virginia, a terrible Florida State and Boston College, with losses to Syracuse and Clemson.  How did anyone in the world equate that to being the #14 team in the country?   Am I taking crazy pills? Northwestern and Purdue both have better wins than that, and neither of those teams deserve to be anywhere near the top 15.

Here are the S&P+ wins and losses for NC State:

Wins:

#38 Boston College
#49 Marshall
#55 Virginia
#75 FSU
#118 Georgia State
FCS James Madison

Lost to:

# 2 Clemson
#58 Syracuse
#87 Wake Forest

It doesn't quite seem possible, but somehow, when you look back at the 2016 boxscore, Michigan held Rutgers to 2 completions and 5 total yards passing on 18 attempts.

I don't see that happening again, but if it does, 5 interceptions is not completely out of the realm of possibility?

Perhaps interceptions or sacks > rushing yards is more likely, given the number of sacks and TFLs the defense will generate.

Devin Bush Jr was 181, according to ESPN:

and Carlo Kemp was 215 on Rivals:

Appears that top 250 on any of the recruiting services qualifies.

11/08/2018 - 10:42am Reading this preview, I…

Reading this preview, I almost feel like we could see a few alternate rutgers - More interceptions for Michigan than passing yards for Rutgers.  More pick sixes, more safeties, and more sacks than passing yards for Rutgers?

10/31/2018 - 9:30pm 41.  Watch every single game…

41.  Watch every single game, but I end up PVR'ing about 60% of them and watching them after the wife and daughter have gone to sleep. The one benefit of living in Canada w/ regards to college football is that it doesn't get too much coverage, and everyone that knows me knows not to spoil the games for me.

According to 538, if Michigan wins out, they have an 83% chance of making the playoffs.  There are still 15 teams that could theoretically make the show under that scenario:

Sad, yet optimistic.  Watching this reinforced how they routinely destroyed most of their opponents on their schedule last year.  They were a few plays away from winning all thirteen games.  This season could be the prelude to 2018 National Champions.

11/29/2016 - 1:22am Big Ten Network Boycott?

After watching the game, wildly celebrating what I thought was a victory on the 4th down stop, and then following up by reading far too many posts and comments on #spotGate and the aftermath, I felt compelled to write.

As a long time lurker, and very infrequent poster, I thought about putting this up as a diary, but felt that there is a little too much anomisity towards any further comment on referees or referring malfesance, so I expressed my thoughts as a post on Medium:

Bump

11/28/2016 - 8:58pm The video is here:

I watched it like 10 times, and have a hard time identifying what should be considered a hold.  I'm unclear on what the rules are when the playing keeps going left and right across the field.  Generally, I believe your allowed to block on the playside, but I don't know what that means when the direction of the run keeps changing.

Peppers overpursues, but forces Samuel back inside, McCray gets shoved out towards the sideline. With Pepper's overpursuit, Samuel cuts it back left.  Glasgow comes up and contains Samual 6 yards behind the line of scrimmage, and forces him back.  Unfortunately, instead of staying there to contain the edge, he tries going around Barrett's block (and so does Wormley), allowing Samuel to cut it back left. Lewis might get him at the original line of scrimmage, but gets illegally blocked out of the play from behind.

It was both a great and lucky play by Samuel.  He benefited by bouncing off Barret, which allowed him to change directions on a dime, and that immediate change in momentum allowed him to gain back 10 yards.  He got another 4 yard by diving into a pile of 5 Wolverines that had finally converged on him.  If either Glasgow didn't try to go under Barrett's block, or Samuel didn't bounce of Barret like that, it is likely a 5-6 yard loss, instead of an 8 yard game, and OSU is kicking a 45+ field goal attempt on 4th and 15.
11/09/2016 - 1:05pm LOL at this joke of a fluff piece by ESPN

http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=18007430

Thesis:  Lamar Jackson has only played an average of 40% of every 4th quarter.  If he actually played every offensive play for the entire season, Lamar Jackson would have 7 more touchdowns.  Remember that Heisman Voters.

Rebuttal:  No one plays every snap for any team. Jabrill Peppers had played 19 snaps from scrimmage, and has scored 3 rushing touchdowns.  Michigan averages 75.1 offensive snaps per game.  Extrapolating out, if Jabrill Peppers were to play 100% of all Michigan's offensive snaps, he would currently have (3 rushing touchdowns / 19 snaps * 75.1 snaps / game * 9 games) = 106 rushing touchdowns this season, to go along with his 1 punt return touchdown, 257 punt return yards, 3 sacks, 11 TFL and 49 total tackles.  Remember that when you vote for the Heisman!

10/15/2016 - 3:09pm TD NC State!

The talking heads were all talking about how great the Clemson/Louisville game was.  The game I watched was an exhibition on how to fumble and turnover the ball.  There was a stretch of 5 turnovers in 3 minutes of clock time, including turnovers on 3 straight plays.  In total, there were 4 interceptions and 5 fumbles lost.

09/30/2016 - 1:44pm Michiga, down 4, at the Wisconsin 16 yard line,

Michiga, down 4, at the Wisconsin 16 yard line, with 8 seconds to go. They run a Peppers sweep, but it's a fake. Butt appears to be wide open in the end zone, but a Badgers DB jumps the route and is streaking down the sideline for what looks to be a sure pick six.

Summoning all of his will, Peppers lunges for the ball at the Michigan one yard line, knocking it our of the hand of the unnamed Badger DB, attempting his best his best DeShean Jackson.

Grant Perry scoops up the, time on the clock long since reaching zero, and heads back up the sideline. He makes it to the Michigan 45 before running out of real estate. In desperation, Perry hurls the ball backwards, right onto the hands of Peppers, who has somehow rejoined the play.

Peppers reverses the field and runs it in for the winning score, 29-27.
