Michigan "Expected" To Land Ty Isaac
Michigan expects to land USC transfer running back Ty Isaac, who according to a source is working through the admissions process with the school and committed some time after his visit this week.
Perhaps anything can happen but Isaac has given the Wolverines strong indications that he'll be attending school in Ann Arbor, according to the source.
Sam Webb was saying much the same except with the requisite caution that comes along with being a daily recruiting reporter for a particular school where the fans hold grudges forever.
Isaac, a five star to Rivals and Scout last year, averaged 5.5 yards a carry in sparing time as a freshman at USC. At 6'2" with an upright style, the closest comparison in recent Michigan history is Brandon Minor, though Isaac displayed some pretty fantastic hands in high school and could be a guy Michigan looks at as a wide receiver if someone actually steps up at running back.
Isaac will apply for a hardship waiver; his mom can no longer fly because of an ear issue and he'd like to be closer to home. If he gets it he'll be in the same class as De'Veon Smith and Derrick Green; if not he'd slot in a class behind them. Ace has a Hello post from last year that he gets to post now, and we'll do that when the "perhaps anything can happen" phase passes and Isaac himself is saying he'll end up at M.
Fuck yessssssssssssss
I really like this. pushes the guys we have, adds a play maker.
But I couldn't turn away until it was over.
Is this really happening?
2014!!!??
You rang?
He provides a contrasting running style to the 2 brusing sophmores. Hopefully he gets his waiver. And props to Nuss convincing him to join even with the worst running game ever last year.
Really liked Isaac last year as that RB/WR/3rd down back combo player. All works out for the best in the end if he goes blue now - I am not sure we would have landed or even pursued. D. Green with D. Smith and TI already in the fold. (plus he would have most likely sucked behind our line last year like every other RB)
CHEF!!!!
shut yo' mouth.
I'm on a roll with this Twitter thing. First dayton over ohio & mercer over duke, now this.
COOKIE PLEASE
Guys, we're getting Ty Isaac.

karma from the Wolverine Devotee thread that got us over the hump. Maybe it should become a daily occurrence?
I thought it was "Shmy Shmisaac". I don't pay close attention to recruiting.
It looks like the kids are enjoying the other thread more than this one, and who can blame them? Commits sounds so much better than "expected" to land.
i feel rejected
>100k == street cred
sleep?
i was right
bball transfer comitment on sunday. great week
F*uck Ohio.
Brian, do you get shift differential?
"Sam Webb was saying much the same except with the requisite caution that comes along with being a daily recruiting reporter for a particular school where the fans hold grudges forever."
I like it.
SHUT YOUR ASS!
... my. I wish I could buy you a coffee for your early morning efforts.
But don't think for a moment that I'm not at least moderately disturbed by this.
I must confess, I made it last night and posted it in another Ty Isaac thread. But that was mostly dead by the time I posted it so I figured I'd get double use out of it.
The beauty is in how disturbing it is.
... grab hold of the RB spot, Isaac's hip flexibility seems to make him an ideal candidate for a move to DB. I'll see if your other images confirm what I'm seeing here.
WTKA, listen on Iheartradio, his recruiting round-up is typically around 7:45 - 8:00
But he was pretty clear this morning that this is happening. He was intentionally vague (while also intending to make it easy to read between the lines), but apparently Isaac made the decision yesterday and seemingly committed (which I interpret as signing something), though he hadn't told his parents. He wanted to tell his both his mom and dad - who was working late - before it went public. Sam kept saying "he wanted to tell them about what he was going to do, or had already done". He made a point to continually repeat the latter, and said follow the bouncing ball.
Sounds like coffee is in order for the M coach closers.
Sam also said he had "a strong feeling in his gut" that Isaac will pick Michigan. That's about as clear a signal as you can get.
all I need to know. Sam's gut, more often than none, has shown tendency to be spot on!!
but at this point I don't see either one coming here. Getting Isaac is good, but it might just increase the odds that Harris goes to OSU.
I doubt it makes any difference with Harris. I think the very top players are rarely scared off by competition In this case, he hasn't seen anything from Isaac or our current RBs to make him think he can't earn a lot of carries.
Yeah, understood where Weber stands currently. I stated why that is. Things change. He genuinely loves UM and wanted to be there. He was hurt when they stopped recruiting him when they got Harris. His list is that reaction. If his recruitment goes until after his season like he says it will, M will have every opportunity in the world to flip the script. He will be back around campus.
It's too bad he can't get over Michigan preferring the #1 back in the country. He may find that door closed again if he wants to wait that long.
I'll believe it when the paperwork is signed, sealed and delivered.
Be caller (Team) 135 when you hear this song played on WTKA 1050 AM, and you might win
He's a "Master Blaster",for sure.
Now everyone needs to learn how to spell Issac-err Isacc-blah Isaac again. That was the upside of Green and Smith, I could spell that without thinking about it. Oh well.
Oddly enough, and I'm sure he wants to play right away and there seems to be a good chance he'll be able to, but it would seem best if he was forced to RS for Michigan's sake. Rather than having 3 top RBs in one class, spread them out between two classes and that's pretty optimal.
Also think Isaac could be a pretty awesome H-back. Let him carry the ball a few times, slip out into the flat some, and yeah, imagine all 6'2" 240 lbs of his speed threatening the seam off of PA. That'd be nice.
I remember how to spell it because I think of Hiro Nakamura from Heroes....
He used to always call the character Issac Mendez..."Mr. Isaac" and pronounce it "e-sock"
So unfortunately, that doesn't help me. Now "Hogan's Heroes", well, no, I didn't really watch that either. But I've heard great things.
And while I didn't really watch much wrestling growing up either, how could you not remember Hulk Hogan?
Hulk Hogan starred in one of the worst movies of all time: "Three Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain".
And while that movie sucked (and had a title that ripped one of the most popular - though in my opinion overrated - westerns of all time) it also started the great Jim Varney.
And who can forget his great roles as Slinky in the Toy Story movies and especially Ernest.
Yup, it's hard to remember how to spell Isaac.
My first reaction is to secretly hope he is forced to redshirt, but from the perspective of the critical nature of the 2014 season, in terms of program momentum -- "This Time We're Going FORWARD!" -- it would be a good thing to have Isaac available right away.
Regardless, the redshirt question definitely falls into the "Problems Worth Having" category.
