Penn State beats Northwestern 59-32 and Basketball Open Thread
Penn State just wrapped up an incredible, high-paced game of the century (/s) in Evanston, beating Northwestern 59-32 (yikes!) Also, Iowa plays Michigan State tonight.
State has committed at least twice as many fouls as have actually been called. There was one or two bad calls but the majority is just hand checking getting called.
Wow, Keith Appling made a layup despite a slightly sore wrist - GIVE HIM THE CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR!
to be throwing himself under the bus
.
"There's no excuse for that. We practiced harder than they played. Like I said, I'll throw myself under the bus -- that's inexcusable, ridiculous."

.
So it's "we" when MSU is practicing hard but "they" when MSU takes a game off?
.
Floor slap = immediate drive for Marble. It's like magic!
MSU slaps floor, Iowa scores their first points of the second half. Seriously, does this not come up in film sessions?
How the fug wasn't that a travel and why was the whistle blown before he even was approached by the Iowa defender???!!
Can't take a scholarship from a player you're significantly better than.
That was not a normal bball play, Dawson has always been a sneaky dirty player, always pretends it's on accident.
Iowa is in the double bonus with over 9 mins left, yet are losing by 10.
...the hell?
Iowa's defense is pathetic.
Man has Izzo aged lately. Playing second fiddle to Michigan seems to be killing him.
Who's whining?
What did you expect? This a Michigan blog talking about a MSU game.
Why is MSU a topic of discussion in an open thread when MSU is playing?
Yes, that's definitely a head-scratcher.
Where's the graphic for hurt feelings?
LOL at the ESPN graphic showing Trice's flu and toe blisters. Someone in their studio is having fun with this.
The amount of d-riding going on in this game is inexcusable. I mean this is worse than listening to Vitale broadcast a Duke game.
This is over. So what does this mean for the BTT seeding now?
Assuming Iowa beats Illinois,
Iowa will be a 4 or 5 and then they'll play either OSU or Nebraska depending on their Sunday games. Wisconsin and MSU will be 2 and 3.
What is it about Fran McCaffery that makes him such a technical foul magnet? He doesn't seem to behave any worse than other B1G coaches, but he gets T'd up practically every game while it almost never happens for anyone else.
Eh I dunno, that dude behaves pretty badly.
Yeah, but he's not the only one who acts out of line. Izzo, Ryan, Crean . . . how do they never get T'd up?
Throw his ass out. Bitch move, McCabe.
Yea, he's got a temper, he bumped Trice pretty good earlier this half, too.
Hopefullly MSU keeps the 3 seed and them and Wisconsin can destroy each other. Nebraska holds down that 4 spot.
What a Russel Byrd thing to do.
Russell Byrd and Zach Mccabe are punks.
Just keep banging that broken drum Dicky.
If Izzo's players keep injuring themselves by hitting tables and hardwood floors, the injury-free juggernaut MSU team will remain the fruit just out of Tantalus Izzo's grasp.
Two threes. Line up the Naismith.
So now do msu's injuries matter? I'm not sure.
They'll be injured again if they struggle in Columbus.
OK, that was cool. Good for him.
So MSU beating Iowa means they are back to cutting down the nets and they should be seeded higher but Indiana and Minnesota both put up 90+ on Iowa? I hope we get a third time to thrash them in the BTT.
Trice definitely kept his arm up in McCabe's face to be annoying, you can just tell. That doesn't excuse McCabe's actions, although I do think that Trice exaggerated his fall.
The amount of ballsucking by Vitale throughout this game was just ridiculous.
