09/15/2018 - 6:49pm Before everyone craps on…

Before everyone craps on Wisconsin, BYU is a good team. And they have two road wins over ranked teams so far this season, for those who are into that stat. Wisconsin is still going to be a huge challenge.

09/01/2018 - 5:14pm The Naked Gun is always…

The Naked Gun is always worth an upvote.

08/31/2018 - 7:14pm Yep. Naturally he nailed…

Yep. Naturally he nailed that easily

08/31/2018 - 6:12pm Metellus is only a junior?…

Metellus is only a junior? Holy shit. I had originally thought he graduated last year and was sure he had to be a senior this year. How am I so off about him? I will take it, though.

08/25/2018 - 9:02pm Dang, Hawaii looks pretty…

Dang, Hawaii looks pretty solid this year. Plus the Rams can't seem to stay out of their own way sometimes. Still, if nothing else it's been entertaining. Hopefully CSU can turn it around in the second half.

08/25/2018 - 8:00pm I tend to root for Colorado…

I tend to root for Colorado St as one of my non-Michigan teams so I'm definitely watching this game. Looks like it may be an entertaining one.

08/23/2018 - 8:32pm This isn't a breaking point…

This isn't a breaking point for me by any means, but the more this happens the more it wears away at my love for college football. I don't watch nearly as many non-Michigan games as I used to. Getting older and working more often/having a family adds in to it somewhat as well. As has the whole change in attitude over the last 20 years or so as NCAA becomes bigger and bigger (i.e. win now at all costs, if a player isn't a star when he steps on campus he is a bust, if a coach can't win it all in his first year he is underperforming, etc).

I don't know that I will ever get back into it like I was 10-15 years ago, but maybe that is a good thing. Who knows. I keep wondering if something is gonna come out like this that involves Michigan. We like to say it never would, but you never actually know. Within the last year half of our division has had to deal with this. And PSU wasn't too long ago. Hell even Indiana football had their own problem not too many years ago. And Rutgers has to be Rutgers

08/12/2018 - 11:35am I'm still pissed they didn't…

I'm still pissed they didn't give Avant the TD on that long pass play that was called out at the 1. Then Henne fumbled the snap on the next play. Didn't Henne throw a pick in the end zone also? And then one of the ND TDs bounced out of the hands of Chris Graham and to a ND receiver (Smardjia?). ND took the first series straight down and scored, but after that it was just a lot of frustration.

08/10/2018 - 10:58pm I agree and disagree.

I…

I agree and disagree.

I agree in the sense that this could have happened just about anywhere. It's the way football is run anymore. I disagree that people shouldn't be calling for Durkin's firing, though. If this can happen anywhere then the only way for it to stop is to start holding coaches responsible for things like this that happen on their watch. Same with the Brian Kelly incident. If there are no consequences for things like this then coaches aren't going to change anything.

08/05/2018 - 1:41am This is the point I never…

This is the point I never see anyone make and I don't get it. Are people not allowed to root for a team before college? What about people that never go to college? Are only college students and college alumni allowed to root for college football? Or if you go to a D2 school you can't root for D1 teams? This is such a dumb point and it blows my mind that people make it.

I live in Grand Rapids and frequently get asked if I went to Michigan when I wear my hat (I did). 100% of the time that is an MSU fan. I don't get it.

07/14/2018 - 7:55am There are some good choices…

There are some good choices on here and all, but not one person is gonna mention Red Forman? Definitely one of my favorites.

07/01/2018 - 2:23pm I got back from the grocery…

I got back from the grocery store literally 4 minutes into this game...to find the score already 1-1. Come on, man.

06/22/2018 - 11:56am Sure, every sport has those…

Sure, every sport has those things, but to the degree we saw today? And there is a difference in most other major sports: the clock stops for injury. Sure they add stoppage time, but it almost never actually makes up for the time lost. You have to have heard people complain about players who act like they are dead and have to be carried off the field, only to magically jump up and run to midfield to come back into the game. Does that happen in any other sport?

I somewhat agree with you about the Ticos. Yes, it's always funny. But at the same time I don't particularly enjoy watching their style of play.

06/22/2018 - 11:47am OK, yes, Costa Rica. Always…

OK, yes, Costa Rica. Always a frustrating team to play. But I'm not just talking about this game. And even when the Ticos were playing their game Brazil still was getting all kinds of chances once they actually pushed forward late. I just find it a bit frustrating to watch extremely talented South American teams play for free kicks sometimes instead of going for goal. Yes, it happens to everyone, but they are easily the worst offenders.

06/22/2018 - 9:54am See this is where I get…

See this is where I get frustrated with Brazil (and South American teams in general). They are capable of such amazing passing, they see the field so well, they can get to goal. And yet they can spend huge stretches of games just trying to draw fouls instead of trying to score.

06/22/2018 - 9:49am Welp. The nutmeg for the win…

Welp. The nutmeg for the win. Can't really be happy for them

06/22/2018 - 9:45am I don't know what's worse,…

I don't know what's worse, Brazil's flopping or Costa Rica's time wasting. This game represents everything that casual fans hate about soccer.

06/22/2018 - 9:38am I'm confused. If you are…

I'm confused. If you are going to go to review and decide that isn't a penalty isn't it an automatic yellow on Neymar? It has to be right?

06/20/2018 - 2:08pm Hang on. So you're saying…

Hang on. So you're saying that Navarre to Henne was the cliff drop.? And not, I don't know, Henne to Sheridan/Threet? Sure, sounds about right. I know when I watched Threet play against Toledo I kept mistaking him for Henne.

06/20/2018 - 2:04pm Seems like a lot of people…

Seems like a lot of people not appreciating Henne here. He had his struggles as a sophomore after Braylon left and Tacopants enrolled (although his overall stats were somewhat better IIRC), but he was a monster his junior year. I feel like people forget how anti-passing Carr could be *cough* 2003 and 2006 *cough* or Henne could have put up Texas Tech numbers in 2006. As for 2007, he played through injuries the entire season when he could even get on the field because Mallett was so bad. His Illinois and MSU games that year are two of the gutsiest games by a recent Michigan QB this side of Devin Gardner against OSU (or, you know, Gardner even agreeing to walk out on the field his senior year).

06/16/2018 - 10:55am Well you know the…

Well you know the comparisons are going to be made. Messi misses the penalty and can't put the ball on frame with a free kick at the end. What a great day for Iceland, though. Good for them.

06/16/2018 - 10:46am This feels like the US games…

This feels like the US games from around 8 years ago. All out defending at the end, trying to hold on for dear life. Relying on shot blocks and great goaltending. It's almost as stressful watching another team do it.

06/16/2018 - 10:27am Poor penalty attempt by…

Poor penalty attempt by Messi, but damn is that a big save for Iceland. Would be awesome to see them steal this somehow.

06/07/2018 - 9:34pm Ovechkin has been downright…

Ovechkin has been downright deadly from that spot in these playoffs. Damn

05/21/2018 - 7:23am It’s hard for me to narrow it

It’s hard for me to narrow it down to just a few. I don’t personally care so much for how great the movies are just how much I enjoy watching them, which is obviously subjective.

Airplane! And the first two Naked Gun movies - my absolute favorite movies anytime I’m having a bad day

Lord of the Rings trilogy

True Lies - imo the best action comedy ever made, Paxton alone makes it amazing

Personal guilty pleasures:

Deep Rising - awesome monster B movie, love Treat Williams in this

Clue - Tim Curry is the man

Eurotrip - I have no defense for this one but I laugh my ass off every time

05/10/2018 - 6:12pm I'm not a big basketball fan,

I'm not a big basketball fan, but I'm old enough to have watched both of them play. I can't logically give a good opinion on this because I'm not knowledgeable enough about the sport to really know. Then again logic doesn't seem to be a big contributor here. There is a pretty sharp age divide I would bet and it's all Get Off My Lawn vs LBJ is athletic and physical enough that he would have dominated back in the day. Let's be honest and say that no one will really ever know and this debate will go on forever.

There are a few things in particular that bother me about this. For one, it is not Lebron's fault that he got drafted by Cleveland and his GM was terrible at bringing in anything resembling help for him, causing him to go to Miami to play with Wade and Bosh (who are not remotely on the same level as some 90s examples people have thrown out). Whole lot of "Jordan made his teammates better he didn't go join other good players." That's a bad take and you should feel bad. Whether he is the best player or not, I don't think I have ever seen someone raise their teammates up like Lebron does. He just sees the court differently than most other players. The championship count thing is also stupid, unless someone wants to argue that Dilfer is better than Marino. Or what about all the guys that have won more titles than Jordan in basketball? It's a team sport. MJ played on better teams.

Personally, I don't want to pick a favorite. Enjoy great players while they are around for what they are and do the debating once they retire if you need to. I'm becoming convinced that if our heroes from the 90s played during the internet era they wouldn't be nearly the heroes they are today.

05/03/2018 - 4:21pm I’m a Devils fan, so I have

I’m a Devils fan, so I have no love for Crosby. But some of you guys are just downright unreasonable. For one thing the Cindy shit is childish and I tune out people who use nicknames like that (same with O$U). Also, the guy is no where near as whiny as he was back in the day. And pretty much every story I’ve heard about him off the ice has been positive. You don’t have to like him or root for him (I know I don’t) but you could at least appreciate and possibly enjoy the show he puts on most nights while he is around. I don’t think it’s a stretch to compare him to the treatment LeBron gets, but that’s another conversation.

FWIW, I find this story dumb and almost wholly without merit.

04/22/2018 - 4:49pm Like I said, things can turn

Like I said, things can turn fast. Damn Pittsburgh can be good when they want to be

04/22/2018 - 4:34pm Weak goal given up by Murray.

Weak goal given up by Murray. Philly pulling away for now, but things can turn fast.

04/14/2018 - 4:09pm Came into this thread just

Came into this thread just looking for this post. Wasn’t disappointed.

04/11/2018 - 8:01pm I just had mine out two weeks

I just had mine out two weeks ago. I’ll let you know when we should expect him back. FWIW my surgeon told me full activity at two weeks. Not sure if college football would count as normal activity.

04/09/2018 - 7:56pm Milky Way. The correct answer

Milky Way. The correct answer is Milky Way.

04/02/2018 - 10:34pm Who would have thought that

Who would have thought that offense would be this team's Achilles heel in a championship game? Weird, if nothing else.

04/02/2018 - 10:18pm At least we are doing better

At least we are doing better than Kansas? Gotta hit 3s

04/02/2018 - 10:04pm Gonna need half time

Gonna need half time adjustments here. We've done really well so far except for guarding one bench player and our offense going quiet.

04/02/2018 - 10:03pm Seriously. Is he invisible?

Seriously. Is he invisible?

04/02/2018 - 9:58pm They saw through Bridges'

They saw through Bridges' bullshit? Wow

04/02/2018 - 9:58pm Another championship game.

Another championship game. Another bench guy murdering us. Damn it

04/02/2018 - 9:57pm How about let's not let that

How about let's not let that guy shoot at all? He is going Luke Hancock on us

04/02/2018 - 9:56pm How did Matthews lose that?

How did Matthews lose that? Hopefully MAAR hits these to save the possession

04/02/2018 - 9:55pm The officiating has been

The officiating has been questionable, but you know it will be like that in this game. We cannot put them on the line and win.

04/02/2018 - 9:48pm We have completely given up

We have completely given up the offensive glass. Rebounding is giving them a shot advantage over us we can't make up for all game with defense.

04/02/2018 - 9:47pm Not getting some of these

Not getting some of these open looks, but neither are they when they do get them. The only real downside so far is the fouls we are picking up.

04/02/2018 - 9:44pm We cannot afford to keep

We cannot afford to keep fouling them and send them to the line. That is where we lose

04/02/2018 - 9:42pm Let them take that long 2

Let them take that long 2 point jumper all day

04/02/2018 - 9:41pm Those are two extremely weak

Those are two extremely weak foul calls on Robinson in a row. Big difference maker.

04/02/2018 - 9:35pm Holy fuck Jordan Poole. Brass

Holy fuck Jordan Poole. Brass ones.

04/02/2018 - 9:35pm OK. Poole and Simmons in.

OK. Poole and Simmons in. Let's see how they handle the stage.

04/02/2018 - 9:33pm That was an awful quick heat

That was an awful quick heat check for MAAR

04/02/2018 - 9:33pm MAAR needed to see that go

MAAR needed to see that go down
