Uh-oh! This is going to disappoint some board members. Namely the “he gone” crowd.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:28 PM ^
Not many expected Vegas to be in play anyway. Jim didn't interview.
This really has no bearing on the calculus and isn't something to get giddy and "told ya so" about
January 19th, 2024 at 5:37 PM ^
Maybe, maybe not. Options are dwindling fast.
Washington - ?
Carolina - ?
Tennessee - ?
Seattle - not Harbaugh
Atlanta - Belichick?
Vegas - Pierce
Chargers - Vrabel?
New England - Mayo
January 19th, 2024 at 5:49 PM ^
Oakland is still in play...
OP--how do do you not make that reference? Do you even MGoBlog bro?
January 19th, 2024 at 6:12 PM ^
Seems to me the Chargers and Commanders will be the two biggest threats. The fact that the Commanders haven't interviewed him yet is probably good for us. No idea what the Chargers are doing but obviously they had the most Harbaugh hype of any team.
January 19th, 2024 at 7:01 PM ^
Commanders seem to be concentrating on current coordinators. They seem to have Ben Johnson high on their list right now.
January 19th, 2024 at 8:48 PM ^
Not sure on the Chargers. Harbaugh met with them and then the next thing we hear is they fly Vrabel in. Doesn't sound like a viable option anymore. I'm guessing Jim wants more control than they're willing to give.
January 19th, 2024 at 5:19 PM ^
Sometimes people are happy when their predictions are wrong. That's why people often say, "I hope I'm wrong."
January 19th, 2024 at 5:24 PM ^
Even the ''he gone'' crowd is smart enough to realize Harbaugh isn't uprooting his family to Las Vegas of all places to coach The Raiders of all teams...
January 19th, 2024 at 5:36 PM ^
It’s Chargers or stay IMO, and the Chargers will have to give up A LOT.
January 19th, 2024 at 3:46 PM ^
It's the right move for the Raiders, and a nice bonus for us.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:49 PM ^
When your most valuable assets are your players and your fans, and they both universally agree who your next coach should be, it’s nice to see them get what they want/deserve.
I don’t know if Pierce will be their pirate in shiny rags like they’re hoping for but they got their wish. I’m guessing they would’ve pillaged and plundered had they not gotten their way.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:51 PM ^
I’m guessing hiring a guy who’s only been an NFL coach for two years, has never been a coordinator, and whose only head coaching experience was in high school, mainly because the players on a non-playoff team like him, isn’t going to end well. But it’s been a long, long time since the Raiders were known for good decision making.
January 19th, 2024 at 6:31 PM ^
Could be, but you're wrong much more often than you are correct. So, we'll see.
January 19th, 2024 at 3:49 PM ^
Kinda feels like it's Chargers or bust for Harbaugh
January 19th, 2024 at 3:52 PM ^
That or the Falcons, but that’s trending heavily in the direction of Bill Belichick.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:01 PM ^
That’s going to be an awkward intro press conference for the Atlanta media.
After…..you know….the whole 28-3 deal.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:11 PM ^
I don’t think so. The patriots beat a lot of teams many of whom I’m sure would like to have Belichek as head coach.
January 19th, 2024 at 5:30 PM ^
Steeler fan checking in: um nope. I'll take Tomlin, and fie on all those cretins who want to fire him. They've been at it for years, and they hate every time he salvages a season on the brink.
January 19th, 2024 at 5:54 PM ^
So like... Your fine that those "seasons on the brink" always contain a couple losses to bad football teams where the Steelers look inept, and had they just won those games the season wouldn't have been on the brink?
I was in Tomlin's corner a lot longer than many others but this guy just seems to make every team he has mediocre no matter how good they are. And why were we playing Mitch over Mason Rudolph? Guy might not be a franchise QB but he's pretty clearly a step up from Mitch Trubisky. Can you imagine how bad we would be without TJ Watt? They're like 1-12 without him.
January 19th, 2024 at 6:56 PM ^
Yeah, which could make for an interesting situation if the Chargers pass and Harbaugh hasn't signed with M. That could turn into a game of chicken Harbaugh might not win as his leverage declines.
January 19th, 2024 at 3:50 PM ^
Its been awfully quiet on the Harbaugh front. The longer this takes the better for UM but also bad for recruiter and the players. Weird
January 19th, 2024 at 5:05 PM ^
I would think 2 more jobs will be locked by the time weekend is over
January 19th, 2024 at 3:53 PM ^
Seemingly would mean that the league couldn’t exact Stalions/Burgergate punishments as they did to Tressel, given what Pierce did at ASU
January 19th, 2024 at 3:57 PM ^
Solid hire. Pierce is from South Central LA and has been a Raider his entire life. #TodayWasAGoodDay
January 19th, 2024 at 4:13 PM ^
Not sure what that has to do with Vegas?
January 19th, 2024 at 5:02 PM ^
"Pierce grew up a Raiders fan, a Los Angeles Raiders fan, in Compton, California, and immediately impressed Davis with his knowledge of the team's history and culture"
He's a guy that wants to coach the Raiders and understands the team and fan culture.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:34 PM ^
Uh, he may be from long Beach but he played for the Skins and Giants and has only been a coach there two seasons.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:50 PM ^
I was wrong, he's from Compton. https://www.foxsports.com/watch/fmc-u9adrsixg9rpmviq
January 19th, 2024 at 5:03 PM ^
They didn't mean he literally has always been a Raider.
He grew up a Raiders fan. It's been talked about a ton on broadcast about how he understand the team and Raiders culture
January 19th, 2024 at 3:57 PM ^
Never really felt like the Raiders were in that sweepstakes this year. It also felt like the players were all in on Antonio Pierce and weren’t going to be happy if Davis went with an external hire.
It’s probably the Chargers or no one at all.
January 19th, 2024 at 3:59 PM ^
Another one bites the dust.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:00 PM ^
So, Oakland(Vegas) is no longer in play?
January 19th, 2024 at 8:10 PM ^
Had to scroll down too far to get to this
January 19th, 2024 at 4:14 PM ^
Vegas is a fun city to be in........
for about 40hrs.
After that you can't get the fuck away fast enough.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:29 PM ^
I used to think the same way… then I lived there for seven+ years. It’s actually got a lot going for it as a local, once you get past the slots and video poker concessions in every grocery store and gas station. I do feel this way about Phoenix.
January 19th, 2024 at 4:41 PM ^
Exactly this. Any time I'm there more than a couple days the wheels absolutely come off.
January 19th, 2024 at 5:03 PM ^
Like Gatlinburg. Great for 2 maybe 3 days, then it's time to go
January 19th, 2024 at 5:14 PM ^
I remember LOVING Gatlinburg when I was a kid going with my family. I went back a few years ago on my own as an adult and was completely underwhelmed. It was just so...tacky.
I guess that makes it the DisneyWorld/Land of the Smokey Mountains.

January 19th, 2024 at 5:02 PM ^
Looking like Chargers are the only realistic option for Harbaugh
January 19th, 2024 at 5:08 PM ^
Seems like the odds that Harbaugh stays at UM are higher than they were at the start of the week.
January 19th, 2024 at 5:47 PM ^
I am of the belief that (and it's just my opinion) if Harbaugh gets passed up again this year, then his NFL dreams are pretty much over. This will be several years of no offers. He isn't getting younger, or cheaper, so it just feels like do or die now.
January 19th, 2024 at 6:00 PM ^
If you watched any of the Raiders down the stretch you could see the team effort on every snap. Doesn't mean Pierce is the right guy going forward, but as a lifelong Raiders hater I actually enjoyed watching them play the last month.
January 19th, 2024 at 6:05 PM ^
I agree it's Chargers or become the all time winningest MICHIGAN coach
January 19th, 2024 at 6:33 PM ^
Harbaugh is having a second meeting with Atlanta.
January 19th, 2024 at 6:49 PM ^
Belichick would be a MUCH better choice for Atlanta... Much, MUCH better.
