The G.O.A.T. (sorta) disses Ohio State QB pipeline
So apparently Sunday's game against the Bears represents Tom's first NFL start against a former OSU quarterback.
Here are his thoughts on the matter:

Very vanilla comments.

I don’t think the buckeyes would be as kind with their words if the roles were reversed...

Shit eating grin, though :)

Understated truth is the deepest cut. He made his views known without throwing bombs. Brady is like 80% robot qb and 20% politician and that's just fine.
October 21st, 2021 at 6:13 PM ^
Subtle but effective. Just a matter of fact statement. Fact burns deep.
October 21st, 2021 at 11:47 PM ^
Not as deep as OSU winning 15 out of the last 16 (or whatever it is) with nothing but those shit QBs though
October 22nd, 2021 at 12:34 PM ^
It's not that hard to figure out. Athletic qb's that O$U wants in their system don't have much of a shelf life in the NFL. Once their legs are gone so are they.
October 22nd, 2021 at 12:49 PM ^
I think your 100% right about the OSU athletic QB assumption which is why Urban Meyer never really flooded the NFL with QBs. And even Tressel had his share of RO QBs (Terrelle Pryor, Troy Smith, etc...). But have you looked at Day's QBs that he's pulled in since he took over a couple of years ago ? All are NFL - type QBs. No, they're not statues and even Stroud can take off for 15 to 20 yards. All have big-time arms and keep in mind that Day was an NFL QB coach. This thread might come back to bite in 3 to 4 more years

That is a perfect humble brag

at first glance thought this said "perfect human being" and I was prepared to upvote that post...so I will upvote this and pretend it said that

Some additional details (LINK)
"That's interesting," Brady mused, with a sly smile. "Why aren't there a lot of Ohio State quarterbacks in the pros? Lot of Michigan guys over the years but not a lot of Ohio State guys."
* * *
Since Brady entered the NFL in 2000, six different former Buckeyes QBs have started a total of 45 games. (One of them, Terrelle Pryor, started 10 games at QB and 20 more at wide receiver.)
In that same time period, a total of seven non-Brady Wolverines quarterbacks alone have started 164 NFL games.
Fields, the Buckeyes' QB in 2019 and 2020 and the 11th pick in the 2021 NFL draft, will be making his fifth NFL start with the Bears. For Brady, it will be his 306th career start with the Patriots and Bucs. (And when Fields was born, Brady was in spring practice his senior season for the Wolverines. When Brady won his first Super Bowl, Fields was 30 days shy of his third birthday.)
So the NFL starts tracker since 2000 currently reads as such: Michigan QBs 469, Buckeyes QBs 45. That's dominance.

ouch, michigan swinging back where it hurts, total nfl qb starts since 2000.

These statistics should inspire "some" sole searching in Columbus and it really is a bit of a red flag warning as far as I am concerned.
They have been winning in college, but it clearly hasn't translated to the NFL.

These statistics should inspire "some" sole [sic] searching in Columbus
What matters more to the average Michigan football fan: beating ohio, winning championships or NFL success?
October 22nd, 2021 at 12:12 PM ^
would you rather have osu's record v. michigan since 2000 or tom brady's nfl success for a team you don't even for over the same time period? this is a brain buster.
eh, it's not a red flag for me, a fan of osu having good players at osu. it should be a red flag for you, and you should ask yourself why the greatest qb of all time had to split reps in college with a freshman and his biggest accomplishment was winning an orange bowl. shouldn't the goat have won a heisman? he even lost to john cooper! who loses to john cooper?!
October 22nd, 2021 at 12:58 PM ^
The internet exists. On the internet their are sites that devote their efforts to an Ohio state university and their sports. I’d question why you choose to be here.
October 22nd, 2021 at 2:15 PM ^
I would rather have the all time record, which is still Michigan 58-51-6, even after the rough patch we are still leading this series. Ohio State has done fine, but what goes up always comes down and OSU's time will be up soon enough.
October 22nd, 2021 at 12:53 PM ^
They are about one thing in Columbus - winning college football games. The NFL only matters to them to the extent it helps them recruit.
Taunting about NFL QB starts is like taunting them about GPA. They don't care one iota. If their entire football team posted a 0.0 GPA and somehow remained eligible, nobody down there would bat an eyelash. They focus on one thing, and as a result have become very good at that one thing.
October 22nd, 2021 at 11:24 AM ^
ouch, michigan swinging back where it hurts,
I hate to agree with you but you're right. This is a stupid look considering Michigan has done nothing of consequence, and especially against ohio, in quite a long time.

Better way to say it:
The G.O.A.T. disses Ohio State QB pipeline (sorta)
We don’t want to imply Tom is a GOAT “sotra” .

Any QB playing for Belicheck would win. Brady wasn’t that great.... oh, wait
October 21st, 2021 at 7:31 PM ^
You think Coach B secretly celebrates the anniversary of the Drew Bledsoe injury?
October 21st, 2021 at 9:10 PM ^
Consider, literally, how much that has changed the trajectory of his career.
I mean he still wears the same hoodies and stuff he did then, but his career may be owed to that injury. Probably not, but maybe. But probably not.
Maybe though.
October 21st, 2021 at 10:05 PM ^
Wait Tom Brady had something to do with Coach Beileins success as well? Is there anything he cant do?

Or even better.. just
The G.O.A.T. disses Ohio State QB pipeline
(I don't think there was any "sorta" about it)
October 21st, 2021 at 6:34 PM ^
Is he talking pros? Cause I'd say there were certainly some OSU QBs I would have rather of had here than what we had. Also, if you count Burrow there are 2 OSU QBs that are now starters in the NFL vs 1 Michigan. Once Brady retires who will Michigan have?
I get it he's the GOAT and taking jabs is fun but that Michigan QB pipeline has gone dry since Henne.
October 21st, 2021 at 6:41 PM ^
Both McNamara and McCarthy may be playing in the pros before Brady retires.
October 21st, 2021 at 6:46 PM ^
Yes, he's talking about how many pro QB's over time came from anOSU vs. how many came from the mighty Wolverines.
October 21st, 2021 at 8:29 PM ^
Sorry, nice try counting Joe Burrows. How many games did he start at THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ohio??? He left so he could properly refine his passing game at LSU.
October 21st, 2021 at 9:12 PM ^
yeah and who claims the stats and awards for Tathan Martell?
October 22nd, 2021 at 6:23 AM ^
Kiki Passo?
October 22nd, 2021 at 6:28 AM ^
Rylee Martell?
October 21st, 2021 at 10:08 PM ^
Good catch. Good thing we have you here to right the wrongs. And with such evidence as "A guy that never took a snap at OSU and a guy just starting his career gives them a 2-1 advantage" wow amazing counterpoint.
October 21st, 2021 at 10:44 PM ^
That’s not entirely true. Burrow received a fair amount of playing time at OSU. 29/39 for 287 and 2 TDs. Obviously not enough to claim him after he goes pro, but he definitely played.
October 21st, 2021 at 11:12 PM ^
Living in Ohio I can assure you some buckeye fans do try to claim burrow as their own. I hate it here!!!!!!
October 21st, 2021 at 11:33 PM ^
Which is funny because if he'd stayed at OSU he'd likely have been at best an undrafted free agent. He wasn't even very good his first year at LSU.
They get no points for Burrow.
October 22nd, 2021 at 1:29 AM ^
Sorry i meant start. Fired up!!
October 21st, 2021 at 10:42 PM ^
Why, pray tell, would you count Burrow?
October 21st, 2021 at 11:28 PM ^
You can count Burrow for Ohio State. If you count Fields for Georgia. So now we are back to one current starter.
October 21st, 2021 at 11:29 PM ^
If you claim burrows than you can’t claim fields, mine as well call him a Georgia QB then.
October 21st, 2021 at 6:35 PM ^
Fields doesn't really count, IMO... he played one year there after truly developing at UGA and was never really an OSU recruit.
This means we couldn't really claim Ruddock either, but I feel that's also accurate.
October 21st, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
So by this logic OSU can claim Burrow, right?
October 21st, 2021 at 6:52 PM ^
Why not? They claim Lebron....or the other way around, I don't know.
October 21st, 2021 at 9:13 PM ^
It's a mutual touching of the tips
October 21st, 2021 at 9:52 PM ^
If LeBron was ever going to college I find it really hard to believe that he would’ve gone anywhere other than the usual suspects of Duke, UNC, Kentucky or Kansas.
If OSU tries to claim LeBron, a guy who never even went to the school, then there should be no eye rolling or scoffing by them against Michigan fans who still cling to Brady.
October 21st, 2021 at 10:09 PM ^
Fine we get Kevin Garnett
October 21st, 2021 at 11:36 PM ^
And Derek Jeter. And Eric Lindros.
October 22nd, 2021 at 6:42 AM ^
You do realize Derek Jeter actually went to Michigan as a student athlete, don’t you? I sat next to him at a men’s basketball game when we were both students. He left early in the start of his second semester. But he’s a real Wolverine, not a woulda-been.
October 22nd, 2021 at 10:30 PM ^
Cool. Thanks for the history lesson.
