Just really cool. Good for her.
December 12th, 2020 at 4:48 PM ^
gotta respect her. and the trailblazer that started it all
December 12th, 2020 at 4:51 PM ^
Kathy Ireland...??
December 12th, 2020 at 4:59 PM ^
I was thinking Katie Hnida.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:20 PM ^
That shower scene . . .
December 12th, 2020 at 4:50 PM ^
Outstanding!! I watched the special about her on Gameday last week.
Her soccer coach said she responded with "Fuck, yes!" when he asked if she wanted to kick. What an accomplishment.
December 12th, 2020 at 6:19 PM ^
After she got the extra point, she 'took a hit' of smelling salts to celebrate. She's bad ass.
December 12th, 2020 at 6:28 PM ^
Then she is one of my favorite college football players this year. The sport needs these kinds of stories in an otherwise grim season.
December 12th, 2020 at 4:51 PM ^
The guy who made a 39 yard FG wasn’t available to kick extra points?
December 12th, 2020 at 5:13 PM ^
Patronizing PR move. I'm sure the Aces of the world are thrilled though.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:16 PM ^
When your team sucks, you need all the publicity it can get.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:45 PM ^
Dude, it's Vanderbilt. This is not their preferred PR.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:29 PM ^
I'll bite...what's an Ace of the world? I know the reference. The substance I'm curious about.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:33 PM ^
One would probably reply to this post with "stop sea-lioning me, fascist"
December 12th, 2020 at 6:02 PM ^
The type of person whose response to a tweet saying that Cade is better than Milton during the Rutgers game is to call that person racist.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:44 PM ^
Pierson has zero accuracy at all on short kicks. Mason admitted as much earlier in the season.
December 12th, 2020 at 6:29 PM ^
He is 9/9 on extra points this year. Rooting for stories is ok, but don’t lie to yourself.
December 12th, 2020 at 8:30 PM ^
Backups play all the time in all sports. Usually not backup kickers, but if you need to recruit a walk-on mid-season for depth, you should reward them for their time investment if you don't want to be an asshole.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
I said short kicks. He's 1-3 from less than 30, missing from 22 and 29. Mason knew this was a problem all season.
December 12th, 2020 at 4:57 PM ^
I don't get why everyone is making such a big deal out of this and yet nobody said a word when Dizzy Flores threw a game winning touchdown.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:34 PM ^
Dizzy got a raw deal. She was too good for Johnny.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:36 PM ^
Too bad about that bug tho.
December 12th, 2020 at 7:38 PM ^
Speaking of shower scenes...
December 14th, 2020 at 11:05 AM ^
That woman is total smoke.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:00 PM ^
That's awesome! I hope there's more opportunities for women who want to play football in the future. Up until recently the highest institution was the Lingerie Football League.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:22 PM ^
I watched a girl kick in high school when I lived in SoCal. On one play, the kick got blocked, and there was a scramble for the ball. The female kicker was trying to tackle the player with the ball and she got annihilated doing so. It was a totally legal hit but damn she got de-cleated and never kicked again. As a result the league contemplated making it a penalty for hitting a female player too hard. Lol.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:00 PM ^
Hopefully her and Jackson He are Co-National Players of the Week
December 12th, 2020 at 5:13 PM ^
I don't know who Jackson is, but naming Fuller National PoW for kicking an extra point would be completely patronizing towards her.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:33 PM ^
It was patronizing giving her SEC player of the week a few weeks back?
December 12th, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
It was special teams POW.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:39 PM ^
IMHO, it is PR and patronizing having her play at all. If she were to be in a real play and got crushed just imagine the uproar.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
She's bigger than their other kickers.
And she's not some random co-ed. Goalkeepers traditionally have exceptionally strong legs, and she's no different in that regard.
December 12th, 2020 at 6:15 PM ^
Yeah, she's 6'2", 194 lbs; she's taller than Jake Moody and a couple pounds lighter than Nordin. I know there are physiological differences between men and women in terms of weight distribution but lot tough guys here are acting like she's the mite.
December 12th, 2020 at 11:48 PM ^
If a guy came in cold in the middle of the season, with no practice, no experience with hits, no preparation, and he got hit, he'd be in the same position.
December 12th, 2020 at 7:17 PM ^
They already named her special teams player of the week last week. Co-player
December 12th, 2020 at 5:11 PM ^
It is cool but she can barely make Extra points. Now if she was kicking 40 yard fgs I would see it being a big deal but one woman barely making XPs shows just how superior men are when it comes to football or basketball. Not trying to say what she is doing isn't a big deal and it is a cool story but to say a man on the Vandy men's soccer team doesn't have a better leg to kick then her is not facing reality. I am all for it if women are good enough for football it would be different and cool but say she tries a FG and it is blocked and a 300 lb lineman blocks her and hurts her it will be a different story. But I'm the end I am glad she got to kick an extra point and play football. After reading my post sounds like I am some male pig but I am far from it. I don't know if I could even kick an extra point this poi t in my life.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:19 PM ^
Also it is 2020 a woman kicking in a game should have happened years ago. I was I now way trying to act like it isn't a big deal but it is almost making a mockery of it now when she was named special teams player of the week last week for a squib kick.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:19 PM ^
They don't have men's soccer at Vandy.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:27 PM ^
Ok. Thanks I didn't know that I thought pretty much all power 5 conference schools have men's soccer. Did they ever ? Or has it been cancelled.
Edit
Simple search and Jason Whitlock came up as he didn't know Vandy cancelled their men's soccer In 2006. I upvoted you for that information because you taught me something today I didn't know. I am being serious also not trying to dick. I always find it cool to learn something new everyday.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:31 PM ^
It doesn't make anyone any money so it's a waste of time and effort and man power etc.
Signed,
The world we live in
December 12th, 2020 at 5:35 PM ^
No it doesn't as the Business of The NCAA which is selfish and corrupt. But it was a good marketing scheme by Vandy as it took away at how bad they been and also how bad Covid-19 affected their team. It seemed like a few years back Vandy was a decent team now they are just bad like Kansas bad. But they are one hell of a academic school.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
They don't have men's soccer at Vandy because of Title IX. They had to disband to equal out the scholarships between men's and women's sports. Because you know, sex discrimination or something.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:41 PM ^
....they don't have mens football at Vandy either.
December 12th, 2020 at 5:50 PM ^
Vanderbilt doesn't have a men's soccer team.
December 12th, 2020 at 6:33 PM ^
What about high school boys playing girl’s volleyball or softball? Most high schools don’t have boy’s volleyball or softball?
December 12th, 2020 at 5:52 PM ^
Any chance Michigan could get her in the transfer portal ?
December 12th, 2020 at 6:01 PM ^
Congrats to her.
LOL @ all the internet tough guys getting big mad over a woman kicking a ball.
December 12th, 2020 at 6:17 PM ^
It is depressing I immediately knew the vast majority of the 40-ish comments on this thread were going to be some discussion about the appropriateness of a woman kicking a football and how it was libtard conspiracy to rob hard-working male kickers of their right to kick an extra point at Vandy.
