OT: Dan Enos Is A POS
Guess he embodies a true Sparty though, so we shouldn’t expect anything different.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:42 PM ^
I was mostly laughing while reading the story.
January 17th, 2019 at 8:42 PM ^
He has Michigan envy.
January 17th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
Sparty is as Sparty does...

The word on Saban since his days in East Lansing is he treats the people around him like shit. I remember one story that when he got to Alabama he put the word out that he was not to be talked to as he walked around the football offices. The emperor didn't have time for anyone below him.
Great coach yes but but a truly bad human being.
January 17th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
I'm no Saban fan, but I think you missed the mark on Saban and Bama superfan Walt Gary. I thought Saban looked more human than in any other situation I've seen.
January 18th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
Hey man, this kind of shit is way out of bounds. seriously. It is way out of bounds to bring a kid who by all accounts just wants to be a part of something bigger than him and doesn't understand hate. Who gives a flying fuck if Saban is fake or acted fake. By criticizing Saban for how he acted you are basically saying he was patronizing the young man.
what the hell has this fan base become? I use to take pride in the fact that when I met others around the B1G from other teams compliment our fans for being classy, respectful, sportsmanlike.
Last night I was listening to B1G ten this morning and they posed who is the most hated team in college football, the only caller to the show said "Michigan" their fans are the most arrogant group of people and act like they are better than anyone. ( not exact quote but close). I'm all for taking a piss out of Saban but man dude.
January 18th, 2019 at 12:07 PM ^
All the way down to the athletic trainers from what I have heard from people on campus.
January 17th, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
Another example of Sparty on Sparty crime
January 17th, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
Should Saban have expected different from a guy he hired away after he spent a whopping 6 weeks at Michigan?
January 17th, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
6 weeks at Michigan??? Seemed like 6 minutes.
January 17th, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
I was thinking the same thing. Saban simply reaped what he sowed.
Also, it’s kinda funny and gratifying to see the top coach in college football get crapped on like that. Somehow makes me feel a bit better lol
January 18th, 2019 at 6:01 PM ^
Isn't it "reapt"? curious
January 17th, 2019 at 6:56 PM ^
It's like when your girlfriend cheated on her ex with you, and then you're shocked when you get the same treatment.
January 17th, 2019 at 7:16 PM ^
LOL at message board guy having a girlfriend...
January 17th, 2019 at 7:09 PM ^
So Gattis is a POS too for taking a better job hours after accepting the job at Maryland?
January 17th, 2019 at 7:47 PM ^
i guess i’ll respond in all lower case. no, he’s not because he’s our coach. we’re only going to be mad when he leaves and/or we don’t beat ohio..
January 17th, 2019 at 8:09 PM ^
Tried to make it small and did “heading 6” becuase that looked small on mobile.... don’t know why it did all caps.
January 17th, 2019 at 7:59 PM ^
Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.
Gattis ditched Maryland for us after spending even less time as their coach.
January 17th, 2019 at 8:29 PM ^
But did he really? I don't know all the details, but my understanding was that he was going to but wasn't final. And he hadn't actually started had he?
January 17th, 2019 at 9:51 PM ^
No. He jumped on a plane 5 hours after the agreement. He never even saw Dulles or Thurgood.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
Sounds like Saban is a POS to work for. That doesn’t absolve Enos, but ... meh.
January 17th, 2019 at 6:11 PM ^
Agreed. If I could rewrite thread title, I'd roll with something along the lines of...
"These 2 POS deserve each other"
January 17th, 2019 at 6:28 PM ^
I don't know. There are stories of him blowing up at recruits and belittling them when they tell him that they are going to a different school. He is apparently condescending to his coaches. If I worked for him I might avoid eye contact too if and when I took a job elsewhere.
January 17th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
I'd personally ask for a one one meeting in his huge office. Walk in and spit on his floor(because: classy /s) in front of him and walk double birds for having to put up with his bs.
But in RL, I wouldn't have the balls or class to do that.
January 17th, 2019 at 8:34 PM ^
Hey! Marcus Hall “flipped” sides and is now on the MGoBlog board!
January 17th, 2019 at 7:43 PM ^
This is a quote from Gattis:
“When Coach Harbaugh called, it kind of caught me off guard,” Gattis said. “I had just left a meeting with Nick Saban getting my butt chewed out for about 20 minutes telling him I was leaving and he was trying to keep me to stay. It did not go over well. So if there was any band-aid to the bruise or what he left on me it was that phone call. It was exciting to hear his voice and get the chance to talk to him personally.”
I have zero sympathy for Saban and can't get worked up about how Enos left.
January 17th, 2019 at 8:01 PM ^
Years ago, I remember Doug Karsch reading a story on the air about a recruit who called Saban to tell him he was going somewhere else (probably some other SEC school) and Saban cut him off and said something like "I'm gonna stop you right there. If you're choosing another school they must be paying you or something so we are better off without you." And hung up. Lol.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:43 PM ^
Meh. If Saban really is treating guys like shit when they want to leave, then he incentivizes this behavior.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:44 PM ^
Awwww I feel so bad for Saban
January 17th, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
You will never get this you will never get this lalalalalala
January 18th, 2019 at 9:45 AM ^
Nick Saban isva great person to work for pause not
January 17th, 2019 at 5:44 PM ^
Oh, I'd imagine there's enough sh*t to go around at his last whistle stop.
This old New Yorker piece, which tries to figure out what makes the guy tick, is worth a (re)read. It notes that when Saban left MSU LSU sent a plane to bring his assistants back to Baton Rouge; none of them wanted to follow Saban.
"College football is understood to hinge on the personality of the head coach, who must charm older (mostly white) men into trusting him with their millions, younger (often black) men into trusting him with their bodies, and sideline reporters of all kinds into trusting him with their airtime. And yet success in this field has accrued to a man with the public image of Satan’s dentist."

January 17th, 2019 at 5:59 PM ^
The guy still controls college football, as unlikeable as he may be he is successful and no one can take that away. He’s paid to win not be loved.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:44 PM ^
I don't feel bad for Saban, at all. Having said that, Enos certainly lacked professionalism and courtesy with how he handled it. Glad he isn't one of ours.
January 17th, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
I was thinking the same thing. At least Gattis sat and had the conversation...even if it was mostly one-sided.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:45 PM ^
Didn’t read but can confirm my agreement.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
Well Saban is a POS for poaching him from us, so I don’t feel sorry for him now.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:47 PM ^
IDK...
Granted, not having the integrity to be straight with a boss is something I would never do myself. But comparing big time college coaching to the cubeville etiquette we live and work in isn't a comparison I want to make. Lord only knows what goes on behind those closed doors.
But more and more everyday it sounds like Saban is a tyrant. Not saying it's right but I can understand why Enos peaced out.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:50 PM ^
I don't see the problem here. He found a better opportunity and he wasn't going to let Alabama know until he signed his new contract with a buyout. What am I missing in today's college football landscape? Oh, integrity and loyalty? Those are long gone.
Oh, Greg Mattison, is that you who left us hanging twice? A big F U from me to you.
January 17th, 2019 at 6:02 PM ^
Saw a pic of Mattison and Day visiting HS coach today.
SMH!
January 17th, 2019 at 6:30 PM ^
Not going to read the article, but if that's the deal, where he just didn't tell anyone until the contract is signed, that just smart business there. Deal isn't done until the ink is dry.
You don't owe your company anything but honest work for honest pay. Loyalty doesn't apply in business, and you are delusional if you think your loyalty up the food chain will be reciprocated down the food chain, on anything but a person to person level.
January 17th, 2019 at 5:51 PM ^
Revise to “Penos”
January 17th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
Get it?
January 17th, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
So Saban got enosed? Did he expect different after he poached the dude from Michigan after month on staff?
January 17th, 2019 at 5:56 PM ^
HAHA!
January 17th, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
you have a pretty low bar for declaring a person to be a piece of shit
January 17th, 2019 at 6:11 PM ^
Sounds like something a piece of shit would say.
January 17th, 2019 at 6:21 PM ^
I lol'd, I'm ashamed to say.
January 17th, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
I... uh... shit. How do I even respond to that? Well played.
