Yeah.
That one.

I'm a Ohio University fan also and thought of them when I heard he was transferring, but with their style of offense I'm not 100% sure he would fit there. Could go to Miami of Ohio or BGSU?

Good luck to him and hope he finds a great landing spot.

This was expected so no big deal. Good luck young man

I always thought this situation was strange. He went from starting and playing a few games at RT to being buried at the bottom of the depth chart almost overnight. He didn't play real well but they must have seen something in him to start him.

If you watched the games in which he started you wouldn't think his situation was strange. Kid seems fine (I don't know anything about him personally), but he just couldn't cut it as a starter against the competition level Michigan faces.

Last summer he had the experience over Stueber, Hudson, and others. That practice experience advantage erodes quickly. He was ahead of JBB because there were rumors JBB wasn't taking practice seriously enough. By midseason they made the switch to JBB and didn't look back.
Either way expected firm handshake here, best of luck to him, hopefully he finds a good landing spot.

Good luck Nolan.

Pretty sure this officially means that somewittyusername was unfortunately right about him. Just wasn't good enough to stay in the 2 deep.
Glad he got a crack at it though, & good luck the rest of the way to this young man.

somewittyname gets the last laugh.
thanks for the epic negbang, you cemented your legacy on Mount Negmore.

It was pretty shitty the way everyone piled on her. Lots of people still owe an apology.
January 14th, 2019 at 8:07 PM ^
I wouldn't go that far. Plenty of people have negative opinions and don't get neg banged like that. His issue, if I recall correctly, was that he was a giant ass in the way he voiced his opinion and responded to more optimistic posters.

It's weird he was a starter last year.

Have you ever noticed how 'fans' get all worked up about a highly rated recruit that leaves like Solomon but a low rated recruit who actually played more for UM doesn't get nearly the attention for leaving.
Potential vs. production. Ironic.

It's related to Backup QB Syndrome: the tantalizing unknown is always more attractive than the known.
January 14th, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
That’s where being logical comes in
January 14th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
Is that accurate? Ulizio played in 17 games over 4 years, with 6 games as a starter and the other 11 as a little used backup/special teamer.
Solomon played in 18 games over 2 years, and while he never started, backup defensive linemen rotate in a whole lot more than backup offensive linemen.
I don't have snap counts or anything, but to me the difference in their actual playing time is pretty insignificant - and Solomon played a lot more in both seasons than Ulizio did in his first two years on campus.
January 14th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
Let's leave off the starter label then. So basically these guys are equal in contributions but not on the blogs where the loss of Solomon is bemoaned much louder.

Backup QB syndrome

Which as we all know is in fact the complaint of the common man against the general unfairness of existence. Or at least of the myth of meritocracy.
January 14th, 2019 at 11:49 PM ^
Ulizio got passed on the depth chart and the options behind him/incoming at his position are many. Solomon was getting solid rotational minutes and fighting off injuries, and his position is one where we have very little depth. Your point is fair that we as fans should have similar feelings for any student athlete leaving the team in terms of gratitude for their contribution but the situations are not the same. Losing a backup tackle who was likely getting passed by everyone including incoming freshman at a position where you essentially hope the same guy plays every down is not the same as the expected starter at a position with little depth and experience where regular rotation is required to stay fresh.

I wonder about Quin Nordin.

another possibility

He gave it his best. Much appreciated, and good luck to him on his next stop.
January 14th, 2019 at 7:41 PM ^
Exactly. Thank you Nolan. Good luck always.
January 14th, 2019 at 7:23 PM ^
Wasn't it all the decision of Greg Frey that Ulizio was a starter?
January 14th, 2019 at 8:13 PM ^
Bet now maizen wishes he hadn't been such a dick to him.
January 14th, 2019 at 9:19 PM ^
Who was that poster that was neg banged? That was fun and all but darn it, they were right.
January 14th, 2019 at 9:20 PM ^
Old Dominion type player

I’m entering the transfer portal. I want to see where I’ll end up

Wish him luck. Made sense he was looking around; hopefully he'll find a solid spot.
