George Floyd was murdered …

George Floyd was murdered (3rd degree?). Bottom line no soul should have to endure that regardless of personal transgressions.

Now, you want to talk about the media running with a tragedy to push this broad based narrative that this is America in 1957 is not correct. Do some adjustments need to be made? Sure and I support reasonable changes in the police and prison reform among others. It's a complicated issue but don't tell that to the extremes in the media who want to sell you massive revolution.

I will read Whitlock shortly…

I will read Whitlock shortly. I actually enjoy his work. I digress. Look, it's simple. Corporations care about color...that is the color green. The NFL or NBA has a huge employee base of people of color. Makes sense to back the foundation of your business, or at least one of the pillars along with the viewers.

Corporations blow with the wind. If they could get rid of someone to save their bottom line then right or wrong...that individual is expendable.

Pretty simple. Double standards? Come on. Double money. Politics.

Side point.

There are a…

Side point.

There are a lot of young aspiring NFL players that just don't appreciate how hard it is to make an NFL gameday roster, especially at qb. Especially as a FA or a low round pick (Brady).

Speight and Patterson are just roster bodies coming out and never had the talent to have lasting power to be on an NFL team.

@ijohnb

We agree…

@ijohnb

We agree completely. I wanted to digress slightly.

This 'save a life' mindset. Every life is important. Then obviously America should disband the military or not give teenagers a license or go back to prohibition, etc. What are we talking about here...250,000 additional people over 5 years when almost 4 million babies are born a year? 2.4 million (or so) deaths per year in America.

It really does come across as throwing the baby out with the bath water. Do what you can to protect the vulnerable within reason. It's amazing how society is going to collapse if 'x' number of people die or somehow society will have blood on it's hands if it doesn't do everything possible, including shutting everything down, to save every life.

Utopia on earth. Human arrogance. Do people realize what 1,000,000 people are in the USA...less than .05% and most of them will be dead within 10 years (true actually).

Big fan of Mr. T.

He is…

Big fan of Mr. T.

He is going to get stronger but watch him play. He has great hands. Can move. They will work on the release but love the 3-4 year guys to build a program. Reminds of a poor man's Juwan Howard back in the day. Guy has a sense of how to play down low.

Great pickup. This is how you build a college basketball program.

What does this exactly mean?…

What does this exactly mean? Younger and healthier patients ending up in the hospital? Hmmm. You mean like young people who get some symptom and show up at the emergency room?

If they were in the ICU...ok, you got me but I don't believe that. What is healthy? 5'10 and 275 lbs? Is healthy 30 with asthma?

I am very skeptical of media reporting which has been wrong very often. Did you hear about all these false positives like supposedly Djokovic who had it and now doesn't have it? Not attacking you but lots of misinformation and paranoia out there.

Here's to more healthy people getting it. It's the only way to stop self destructive madness. There are a lot of mentally weak and scared people. I have met them. One guy who is probably in his mid 30's wearing a mask all the time where we had to talk him off the ledge. His girlfriend was Italian.

I know another girl (haven't seen her)...mid 20's acting like she is going to die. It's amazing how you can manipulate people when the facts are clear that if you are between 20-50 with no underlying conditions (good ht/weight, no asthma, non smoker) that your chances of dying are slim to none.

Tschetter is awesome. Needs…

Tschetter is awesome. Needs development on higher release point but really good athlete and physical down low. Good hands. Guy is going to be one heck of a college player. Reminds me a little of the kid from Iowa this past year down low.

You want 3-4 year guys as the foundation of a college program. I hope UM can land him over any 1 and done guy. The recent MSU commit? I'll take this guy every time or the recent decommits from UM this past year.

Guy is going to be a beast in college. Beast.

I am not fearful of Covid…

I am not fearful of Covid but I do wear a mask if I go into a store for the consideration of others. I digress.

I try and wear a mask as little as possible because from my limited understanding, we have lungs for a reason. A mouth and a nose.

If I had diabetes or asthma then my approach would be differently. Here is to more healthy people getting covid19 and doing their best to avoid unhealthy people who obviously have the burden of recognizing their vulnerability and making a proper risk assessment.

Bingo. Couldn't have said it…

Bingo. Couldn't have said it better myself CoverZero.

Great news. I am all for…

Great news. I am all for more testing to confirm that many people have it. The more the merrier. Isolate the vulnerable and lets move on back to normal for the majority of us.

Obviously, still way too…

Obviously, still way too early in the game to draw long term conclusions, but found it interesting given that many US states are about to go the route of Sweden whether they admit it or not.

I love that line. Bingo. The US Gov't overreacted. It will go down as an historic blunder. Some of us knew that in real time and others are coming around to that view. Better late than never. Just wait till people see the carnage manifest itself completely in a few months.

Bad times.are coming.

Here is a different…

Here is a different perspective. Do you want to beat OSU? Well, it's not quite as difficult as you think.

1. Get a rock solid balanced team. Check.

2. Get a qb who knows how to win. Scout better and develop. A great QB will make the difference.

3. Get a better defensive coordinator. Brown is arguably the biggest problem against high octane offenses because he plays them straight up which is sort of like playing MJ one on one.

1986 UM vs. IU

I got to admit where I am…

I got to admit where I am wrong, on the Pro side of the equation. He was only 6th man of the year once. My bad. You are right.

I saw both of these guys play. Webber was certainly flashier but Tarpley was a much better all around player. Wasn't Tarpley on two teams who won Big Ten titles?

In fact, here is something you will disagree with but Juwan Howard was the go to guy for offensive buckets. Webber was more raw and Howard more polished. If Webber had refined his skills like Howard earlier in his career he would have been one of the all time collegiate greats.

I am not saying Webber wasn't a fine college player but Tarpley was the man on the team. He stirred the drink. Webber benefited from Howard down low.

It's a close contest. I will backtrack somewhat. :)

Tarpley is criminally…

Tarpley is criminally underappreciated. Guy rebounded and blocked shots and scored. For goodness sakes...he was the NBA 6th man of the year....twice.

You will have a hard time convincing me that Webber was better in college than Tarpley. In fact, try and convince me Webber was better than Tarpley in the pro's.

Go ahead. Give it a shot.

I haven't looked at the list…

I haven't looked at the list but I can't almost assure you that Rudy T and Tarpley will be in top 10. I will be disappointed if Loy Vaught isn't in the top 20. He deserves it and was so overlooked and his NBA career proved he was a great UM player.

For the record, I said 40-65…

For the record, I said 40-65 with underlying conditions should consider isolating themselves.

In regards to people of color, I don't think race has anything to do with it unless diabetes is more susceptible to a particular race. I can also imagine being locked up in close proximity to others doesn't help or a bad diet for that matter.

I find in interesting that people are getting away from the core issue here which is impacts people with underlying conditions and now those with agendas want to scare the populace with it impacts younger and race variables. Being politicized to expand all sorts of interests. I just heard about the toddlers so the fear mongerers are really trying to scare people back into the closet.

Always an outlier which shouldn't go to waste in controlling people.

This article isn't really…

This article isn't really all that enlightening. What did it really tell me? Nothing to be honest.

Oh, it kills older people and it can kill between 45-54 more than you would think. Why? I can only assume because by then you are probably more likely to be obese and have underlying medical conditions.

The article did nothing for me. My personal article would be that if you are between 40 and older then you should think about getting in shape, taking vitamin C, losing weight and if you have underlying medical conditions then avoid people. There you go.

Some fans are missing the…

Some fans are missing the big picture here. If players are coming and going and college basketball is some de facto G league then it's going to lose many fans and it's popularity will erode.

There are some who want it all. Free movement with no restrictions and popularity. Always a tradeoff between competing interests. Why should I follow a sport where guys are only interested in the bottom line and not the university? Why wouldn't I just watch pro sports?

Better Call Saul is really…

Better Call Saul is really good but lets be honest, right now it's essentially a continuation or prelude to the Breaking Bad series. Is Better Call Saul a separate show from Breaking Bad? Saul was a major character of Breaking Bad. Mike is a major character on both shows. Gus. It's basically Breaking Bad plus Kim.

Another point is that Breaking Bad laid the foundation for Better Call Saul so they didn't have to do much character development other than Nacho or Lalo or Kim. There were plenty of complaints about BCS the first couple of years.

BCS is excellent. Breaking Bad was a masterpiece of a show. Were there some character changes with Skyler? Sure but again people change. Skyler is trying to save her family (new little girl), etc.

I'll go with The Wire because of it's importance and writing. I love the Breaking Bad story of Walter White reflecting the decline of a civilization (see America).

I just came across your…

I just came across your comment. Spot on. See my comment on this topic. The naïve nature of some in regards to politicians is astounding. Yeah...these politicians aren't interested in power and control their own agendas and only want to help us. Yeah. Lol.

I watched all The Wire,…

I watched all The Wire, Breaking Bad and 3 seasons of the Sopranos. I got bored with the Sopranos. Sorry.

My personal favorite is Breaking Bad. I absolutely loved it. The husband/wife dynamic and watching a person and his soul go dark was fascinating.

That being said, I have no problem with anyone going with The Wire as the best show of all time. It was so well done. Just loved how the show exposed the 'corruption' on every level.

I would highly recommend watching the series because you will get a better perspective on political motives and why you shouldn't put your trust in them. Has a lot of relevance to today and the virus.

I was among the first people…

I was among the first people who called Brown way overrated. This wasn't in regards to recruiting. This is absolutely true but I digress.

Brown is what I like to call an entertainer. He has a great shtick. He is sort of the RR of the defensive side of the ball. It's ironic that when I first started questioning Brown, I was widely attacked because people loved his routine and his aggressiveness. Very few people really wanted to see that his defense was basically shredded by better offenses because they had the personnel and the ability to execute and use their better player(s) and essentially isolate them. Use the aggressiveness of Brown against him.

Brown, for a lack of a better term, is a system DC. I think he has actually gotten a little better calling plays but it's clear that he looks for system players (quickness and speed/ability to rush/blitz).

The problem isn't necessarily he recruits the Northeast. The problem is recruits the same type of players to run his flawed system. He isn't going to change anymore than RR would change. Brown believes in his system like a Baptist preacher believes in the word. (Not religious by the way).

Harbaugh hired him so he is ultimately responsible for the results. RR was so successful at WVU. It was a perfect place. A lower level conference before they moved. Brown was so successful at Boston College. Notice any similarity between college and the level of conference at the time?

The only guy who took a system that worked at lower level at made it work against higher level competition was Beilein but again that was in basketball.

It's not whether they turn…

It's not whether they turn out to be great but what they add to the team. I saw where Todd was the #13 ranked guy on some list. As someone said above, this should be a learning experience for coach Howard. Let's be honest here, this is what drove Beilein to the pro's.

You play with fire, sometimes you get burned. Williamson is probably a bad example and again, other than publicity, did Williamson add anything to the Duke program on the achievement scale they couldn't have done without him?

Not to rub salt in the wound…

Not to rub salt in the wound but couldn't you see the Todd decommit coming a mile away? Well at least I somewhat did. The guy had 1 foot out the door. Read the tea leaves. They don't always show you the way but...

You get 'in' with these 1 and done guys...this is what you have to expect. Sure Christopher is a big loss but again it's just for 1 year. Not that big of a deal guys. A friend of mine always discuss this basketball recruiting and he has come to my way of thinking that you would rather have top 100 guy, maybe top 50-75 guy who needs a few years of development than the UK/Calipari style of recruitment. He is a UK fan.

Some of you are funny. It's…

Some of you are funny. It's amusing to listen to some of these statistical assumptions.

For instance, look at the death rate so far. Remove those who probably have had it or have not been tested. Just remove it all. Use common sense. The virus goes after the low hanging fruit and kills the 'weakest', so to speak, fast. People get it. The vulnerable realize what this virus is about and now they are in severe lockdown plus some other good policies are going to help. This virus isn't going to kill half a percent of the population.

Fear mongering at it's finest. Not saying 'we' should let anyone die but come on.

The equivalent would be Japan is winning the War against the US because of Pearl Harbor. How many Japanese died vs. US citizens after the Pearl Harbor attack? See where this is going?

By the way, I agree with…

By the way, I agree with your overall position. I took a front line stance against the overreaction of the government. I won't bore you with my argument but suffice it to say 'we' were taking the brunt of the criticism a few weeks ago.

I just wanted to say you have a supporter out here. More than you would appreciate. We just drowned out by the vocal segments of society.

Your son is going to be fine…

Your son is going to be fine. Unless your son is 85.

I have to leave now but I…

I have to leave now but I want a dissenting opinion from my own. Tell me about this 'magnitude' of the situation. Why as a healthy 54 year old should I be concerned. I am concerned about my unhealthy Mother.

Don't viruses kill the weak throughout history? Survival of the fittest. Why should society hole up when it's just a vulnerable segment.

Please present a counterpoint. Anyone. Why is the flu, I mean the coronavirus, something that should shut down an entire society. I had a cold, I mean human respiratory syncytial virus, and I survived. I am sure others haven't survived.

See how I can attach a scary medical term over something that occurs on a regular basis. It seems like the fear is because we don't have a vaccine yet or it's extremely contagious but I catch colds and the flu from others and vice versa.

Present a case that I am in denial. That I don't get it. The best thing that has happened recently was Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson getting this virus because people see that they get better and are okay. It's the guy/gal with emphysema that we should be concerned about and isolate.

So basically men are pigs?…

So basically men are pigs? Even men at a liberal institution of higher learning. That is what I take away from all this stuff. Not that UM is handling it better than MSU. The whole rivalry thing is just a smokescreen for maybe men abuse power and can't resist the seductive nature of women?

I know this isn't what you really want to discuss. Back to the morally superior argument of UM over MSU.

I do love the Fire Bakich…

I do love the Fire Bakich movement because the timing was just perfect. If I recall correctly, someone created a post right after UM blew a lead against Illinois in the Big Ten tourney 1st round?

I remember rolling my eyes because my recollection was UM was doing pretty well overall in baseball. It was trending upwards. It wasn't perfect but way better than it was before his arrival and that he is extremely competent. Arguably the greatest board post of all time because of how things have worked out.

I know there were people who were calling for JB to be fired but the Bakich firing call is sort of this boards Dewey beats Truman call.

Beilein would also have the…

Beilein would also have the one recruit who left although I think Howard has developed Davis to some extent.

I am happy with coach Howard because I like that UM is going to recruit higher level talent and the real important variable here is that coach Howard may not be as good with x's and o's but more importantly he is 25 years or so younger. It wasn't like Beilein left when he was 50 with 15 years left of coaching.

Beilein leaving this year would be like Belichick leaving this year for NE. His best years were already given to the organization.

It's pretty clear that…

It's pretty clear that Beilein was flirting with the Pistons because the college game has aspects that Beilein was frustrated with like Wilson leaving and always having to recruit which is his biggest weakness. His system usually demands guys who stick around to get stronger and learn how to play within his offense. I don't blame him. He had Burke luckily fall to him. He got better at recruiting over his tenure but anytime he got a more talented guy they were predisposed to leave because he did such a good job developing.

How many guys were leaving early in recent years? Wilson, Iggy, Poole. Not to mention Poole was quite the handful. Why stick around when it seems to be just about recruiting 24/7. This is what we have now in college. Recruiting guys, play them because they either leave or go into the transfer portal.

Seems like for someone like Beilein getting out of college was more than a reasonable approach. If coach Beilein wants to coach I would suggest going back to primarily an academic school that happens to play basketball.

I agree with this assertion…

I agree with this assertion. Northwestern gets a certain level player and Beilein would be a perfect fit for Northwestern. I hope he lands a great school. Somebody would be happy to have him represent their school. If coach Howard left tomorrow, I would hire JB back in a second.

I think Beilein left because…

I think Beilein left because of the whole leave for the NBA regardless of whether you are ready but whether you have potential. He got sick of it and also wanted a bigger challenge. I don't blame him at all. Sometimes things don't work out.

I just read something below…

I just read something below that I strongly disagree. I am happy Coach Howard is here and only wish coach Beilein the best. He doesn't deserve this NBA stuff and I don't have any problem with him pursuing the highest level and not wanting to deal with NCAA one and done garbage politics.

Now, just stop. Beilein did not leave UM in a bad place. Stop. He got to 2 NCAA finals. Won Big Ten championships. Anybody who was hired was inheriting a pretty full cupboard. The fact of the matter is that coach Howard is recruiting at a phenomenal level and UM is poised to continue it's high level basketball play and it's only because of the Livers injury that UM hit the skids.

UM is going to make the tourney so let's stop with the Beilein left UM in a bad position. You know who left UM in bad shape? Brian Ellerbe by having a roster in shambles when fired. Amaker left UM in a better position and Beilein raised it up even exponentially higher.

Great idea. I wish somebody…

Great idea. I wish somebody would have suggested his firing before this program collapsed in the World Series.

Good hire by MSU all things…

Good hire by MSU all things considered. He is a good recruiter and they could have done worse. Also hired a person of color which is good.

Give them credit for spending some cash to settle things down.

I have made a decision not…

I have made a decision not to turn the television off until they make a basket.

Wow. I think I am going to…

Wow. I think I am going to head out. Not feeling well and watching bad shooting doesn't help.

People are avoiding the real…

People are avoiding the real issue here. It's not UK or MSU. It's the fact that OSU has locked down the state of Ohio which has been a real key to their dominance. It would like UT locking down Texas for recruits and Oklahoma going elsewhere.

Are you saying I can't…

Are you saying I can't believe internet rumors and the quality sources that leak them?

Speaking of Nunez. He…

Speaking of Nunez. He reminds me a little of Poole in that they can get their shot off but I am now at that point where I expect it to miss. They shoot but deep down inside you know it's more than likely going to miss.

I have a little of the Stu Douglas vibe. Nice beautiful shot but for some reason it won't go in although Stu got better very late in his career. Some guys just can't make the shot the same way some guys can't close the sale.

Good point. I think GS was…

Good point. I think GS was looking long term with development but I think they are starting to see the inconsistency as a problem. They are getting the Jordan Poole experience. Probably should have talked more with coach Beilein.

Great point. What did GS see…

Great point. What did GS see in Poole that 'we' as UM fans saw? Well, they saw his range and his athleticism but decided that he would improve his consistency. That is on GS and Kerr.

Poole was never a college type player. He was born to play in a flashier type structure. I jest but Poole would have been fun to watch on the Harlem Globetrotters. Poole is a wanna be Jamal Crawford without the athleticism or shooting prowess.

Good for him. Somebody gave him a lifetime of riches. Good for him. Living his dream. I wish him well.

This is correct. He is a…

This is correct. He is a volume shooter with a low shooting percentage at every level. He looks the part but the consistency isn't there. As I have said many times before, he is a chucker. Sort of like Harden but not nearly as good. These chuckers will kill you in a game. A streaker shooter is hard to figure out when they are hot. One game 6-7 and the next 9 games 2-8. That won't get it done especially if you are a liability on defense. How do you figure out what game they are shooting well?

He reminds me a lot of Ron Coleman back in the day for UM. Much more talented but would brick up a storm most of the time. Do you know what the odds are of taking a guy who has historically been a mediocre 3 point shooter and now making him a great 3 point shooter? Highly unlikely. I think he can become a good 3 point shooter but will need to improve other areas of his game to stick around because he is never, ever, going to become Kerr or Curry. Ever. Not going to happen.

The same way Mo Wagner will not become Larry Bird.

Jordan Poole made the right…

Jordan Poole made the right decision to go Pro. It's not his fault the Warriors thought he was going to be a consistently good shooter.

Come on. Poole was inconsistent at best. If I understood that then some scout who looked at his film and the statistics clearly would understand that. Will Poole ever become a consistent shooter? I don't know. He was that guy in high school and beyond. I think he is going to have to be a well rounded scorer and not a spot up guy like Kerr. It's never who he was.

We will see.

Stay away from women as much…

Stay away from women as much as you can in any employment situation. It used to be that you could date the opposite sex but you can't anymore. I am not saying one way or another what occurred but just making an unpopular comment. Don't interact with women except to do your job.

I was in the grocery store…

I was in the grocery store yesterday evening as a matter of fact and I was in the soda aisle and here some many yelling from what to seem a couple of aisles away. It was about 10-15 seconds and it crossed my mind I hope this guy doesn't have a gun.

So I go down the aisle to the back of the store and he had come over there and was yelling to someone but not quite sure. A woman had her head down and the other guy was ignoring him and for all I know he was having some sort of breakdown. Looked like some mid to late 50's male. I made eye contact with him but went to the side and then figured it's time to get out of there. I told the store guys...hey, you got angry guy back there and two of them said it's being taken care of...I am assuming police were on the way.

I guess my point is that mental illness is around all of us...and you just hope that they don't have access to weapons.

Bane?

I wouldn't trust…

Bane?

I wouldn't trust him.
