He looks cool to me. I think it’s just bittersweet, he’s a coach and it probably hurts to give it up. I’m sure this is more of his family’s decision than his, but he’s knows it is best as well for his long-term health.
December 4th, 2018 at 2:44 PM ^
Odd school, odd press conference...not surprised!
December 4th, 2018 at 2:45 PM ^
Such a group of dickbags. So phoney.
December 4th, 2018 at 2:48 PM ^
What a shitshow.
December 4th, 2018 at 2:54 PM ^
Anyone that thinks this doesn't hurt their recruiting is high. Meyer had 3 NCs and a lot of gravitas.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:18 PM ^
Go through their target commits and see who was their recruiter........Ryan Day.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:30 PM ^
Maybe you should go through your underwear drawer & remove the ones with shit stains.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
Ewww! Why would you want him not to have any underwear?!
December 4th, 2018 at 4:01 PM ^
Only time will tell. Oregon State, TCU and Rutgers aren't exactly big games.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
Go through your phone and see all the 900 numbers!
December 4th, 2018 at 8:13 PM ^
Commits or future prison line up? Ryan Day is a douche bag....

December 4th, 2018 at 2:58 PM ^
he gots all those toofs and no toof brush.
December 4th, 2018 at 2:53 PM ^
I haven't heard so many lies since his last press conference.
December 4th, 2018 at 2:54 PM ^
So you have Dirty Jim and Urban Liar....whats Ryan Days name going to be?
December 4th, 2018 at 3:00 PM ^
Well, he's not a liar yet (unless that's a job requirement). Actually he hasn't been proven to be a lying piece of shit yet, so we will have to wait.
But to get a head start, how about: Go Away Day or You Did Say Day
December 4th, 2018 at 3:12 PM ^
After watching this press conference, I’m convinced it was staged and he’s not happy with it.
Lets see how much work he continues to do for OSU! He will be coaching within another year and Day better have a new strength coach because Urbs is going to yank Mickey!
December 4th, 2018 at 3:26 PM ^
Hopefully Cryin Ryan after next November
December 4th, 2018 at 3:27 PM ^
Day Day is his new name
December 4th, 2018 at 2:56 PM ^
Urban - "If you act right, do right". Is that code for "Don't get caught red handed"
December 4th, 2018 at 2:56 PM ^
More so, he seems like a guy with a big ego. If it was Bo handing off to Mo, he would be deflecting the conversation onto the new coach. Rather, the conversation was all about Urban.
Ryan Day barely spoke
December 4th, 2018 at 2:57 PM ^
If I were Michael Drake, I wouldn't go anywhere without a witness...... that dude might end up getting Kashoggi'd somewhere downtown Columbus.
Whatever the case, agreeing to 'retire' at the end of the season wasn't enough for the one trustee who resigned because he was embarrassed by the 'Gong show' investigation.
I suspect details will leak out eventually.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:19 PM ^
That's legit funny
December 4th, 2018 at 2:59 PM ^
NO NO NO... He was not fired because of $38 million dollars. If he walks away and retires he is owed nothing. But I have a feeling they still have him some of his contract to go away personally. They didn’t want to get in a pissing match.
Contract had lingo in it that if he was fired because of lack of control etc he would be owed $0 dollars. OSU just wanted it over IMO.... regardless I hate the fake ass dude, but a hellava coach
December 4th, 2018 at 2:59 PM ^
Whatever. He'll have to forgive me for not feeling bad for him. Go take your millions, enjoy retirement, and never coach a single down against Michigan ever again.
December 4th, 2018 at 2:59 PM ^
I think this decision was made during the investigation process in an attempt to save face for Urban. They wanted to fire him at the beginning of the year but knew they owed him an out otherwise their fans would've staged a mutiny. The headaches, retirement, family time, etc, it's been in the works since September. I think Day also knew he was auditioning for the job. My two cents which prob ain't worth either penny.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:27 PM ^
Agreed - this seems like it was all orchestrated back during the "investigation". Eventually it will become public what Urban's "retirement" package entails, but it is likely worth nearly $38 million on a PV basis thru a number of "retirement benefits" that will be hard to quantify by outsiders.
I have to say, Ryan Day seems like a genuine guy ... however, give him time in that armpit of an institution and they will warp his character. When Gene Smith referred to OSU as a "complex" place the word that jumped to my mind to replace complex was "criminal" ... does it get any sleazier than tOSU ?
December 4th, 2018 at 3:46 PM ^
He'll find, particularly when something goes wrong as it inevitably will, that OSU football is a snakepit. He might be able to handle it, but it's a lot easier when you are the biggest snake like Urbz was.
December 4th, 2018 at 8:09 PM ^
Smith actually said "Prison complex place." But the "Prison" was silent, out of respect for Maurice Clarett.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:00 PM ^
Where can you see his “speech” if you missed it live?
December 4th, 2018 at 3:21 PM ^
Youtube
December 4th, 2018 at 4:51 PM ^
It will take you longer to find it as he spoke for about 15 seconds.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:03 PM ^
Go Huskies!
December 4th, 2018 at 3:28 PM ^
Bow wow wow
December 4th, 2018 at 3:05 PM ^
Harbaugh should hire him (Urbz) as his juice-box guy ...or perhaps as RB coach
December 4th, 2018 at 3:13 PM ^
Harbaugh should just send him 1000 pizzas today.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:47 PM ^
Obligatory . . . you're a saint
December 4th, 2018 at 3:08 PM ^
My guess...we start to hear more about Z. Smith situation among others..just like Florida.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
That's the prediction from a Florida native I was talking to recently.
All of this does seem to have been planned in September.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:11 PM ^
This is the firing that never happened during the season.....
December 4th, 2018 at 3:23 PM ^
Ohio State will now be cursed. They sold their soul to the devil and now that Urban is gone, they will be cursed for the next 20 years and Michigan will go 18-2 against them starting next year.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:40 PM ^
If that were the case, the first karmic win would have been two weeks ago.
No, we are still in the inferno until proven otherwise ...
December 4th, 2018 at 3:47 PM ^
I wish there were karmic justice. But as Urban and others prove, bad guys finish first.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:31 PM ^
Ok I watched it. You guys are seeing things that aren’t there. He didn’t look pissed at all and certainly spoke for longer than 15 seconds and answered a lot of questions. I think there is some straw grasping here.
December 4th, 2018 at 5:25 PM ^
I didn’t see the pissed part either...he looked normal. Even joked and smiled at some of the questions from the media.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
This "Buckeye Nation" stuff is just... yeah.
December 4th, 2018 at 4:24 PM ^
Actually with you on this. Reminds me a lot of the “Douche Nation” stuff from Parks and Recreation.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:39 PM ^
So from what ppl are saying, I gather
- Meyer is angry at some OSU board members, maybe looking for payback
- Meyer might interested in proving his worth, that he's better than Day
- Meyer might not be as sick as claimed
And he's now... potentially free to interview for HC jobs? Interesting...
December 4th, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
That he'll be staying on in some capacity really has to be a downer for opposing fans.
Game plan not working? Need help with a recruit? Bring in the closer.
December 4th, 2018 at 3:56 PM ^
Makes it suck even worse that we couldn't hand him a loss on his way out the door. Now Buckeyes can lord his perfect record over our head forever.
